  1. I still love show too LadyMustang, although the critiques here are interesting to read. But especially wanted to go back to this: Eww, no he wasn't at all! I remember thinking how nasty and paunchy his body looked shirtless, and being pretty disgusted with Andrea at the time. Like, maybe if he had at least had a handsome face or a good personality it wouldn't have mattered as much, but his stomach and chest were really yucky, and I literally gagged at the idea of sex with him during those scenes, although I (unlike Andrea) could have suppressed that to take one for the team and kill his ass. Back to the current episode; I rewatched the battle because I found it pretty confusing as a bunch of people have noted. So this is what I think I worked out. Once Negan had Carl and Rick walking into the clearing and kneeling, the shots that panned around showed most of the Alexandrians being disarmed and made to kneel. So once Shiva led the way, the rest of the Kingdom people (who already knew Negan had the numbers and was likely to be winning) came in and started shooting at anyone they saw that was standing. Then by the time the Alexandrians were starting to stand up and fight back again, and as the Hilltop people came on the scene, Saviors and GPK were making a pretty obvious retreat. I mean, yeah this is far from foolproof, but I can see it if I try to put myself in Ezekial or Maggie's place as to who to shoot at. The point made about how Ezekial knew the Saviors had allies still stands though ... that line was kind of clunky, unless/until we find out how he got this intelligence, because THAT is something that cannot be explained by his just looking at them. ETA: Oh also wanted to agree with the posters that stated that Andrew Lincoln seemed under par this episode, but JDM's close up scenes with Rick were the best acting he's done thus far. There was a whole lot of complexity in just his eyes, he's a good actor really, it's too bad that many of the problems viewers have with him at what his bosses are telling him to do.
  2. When the Heath Ledger lookalike was dying, did he ask Morgan to teach his little brother how to use the sticks, or was it some total other thing? My middle aged hearing could be better, but I watched this with a bunch of college kids, and I have to admit I was too vain to ask them to back it up and use the CC for me.
  3. Like a lot of you I was excited by the casting of delicious-AF-Rufus Sewell. I loved Pillars of the Earth-book and show- and Tom Builder was my favorite character and casting. On the Pillars note, David Oakes shows up in the cast about midway through (I've seen the whole first season) and he is a damn good actor. I was totally repelled at the first site of him -William Hamleigh icks- but I started to really like him by the end of the season. Impressive since he had made such a detestable villian prior.
  4. Wow, what a sad life for two children! Brandi and Candi's story was really moving to me, their caring for each other and practically raising one another since their babyhood was so poignant. I was so glad that they have a loving and supportive grandmother. You could really feel the weight of her guilt in not having known enough to have snatched them up and raised them herself despite her husband's health problems. My younger brother Phil and his wife Teresa are the owners of the Crossfit that was featured and I admit I was proud of Philip, because wysiwyg ... he is just that warm and friendly. Without doing a big derail, they didn't pay to get onto the show, and what was filmed is actually very typical of what they do at their location. Safety and Form are their biggest priorities. They enjoy the prestige their competitive members bring to the gym, of course, and Teresa (never shown) is very big in that part of Crossfit herself, but their real passion honestly is the teaching part, and meeting people where they already are by assessing their needs then scaling and personalizing the WODs. Without generalizing too much, I think the reason this class looks like mostly young male hardbodies (no complaints on the viewing side there!) is because their earlier 5 and 6 am classes are where more of their 'just folks' members attend, like moms trying to drop baby weight, seniors, people who are trying to get fit with pre-existing health or injury issues, and older sisters who have never done anything athletic but are trying something new after quitting a 17 year smoking habit :). It looked like Brandi and Candi went to a later class to me, and those tend towards the more typical gym crowd. Anyway, 29 is still awful young. I really hope they are able to drop the weight, because they have a lot of good years left to lead more normal and happier lives, and to hopefully discover how many other things there are to enjoy in life besides food.
  5. There are two things I am interested in hearing other people's thoughts on. First is Bronn. Who do we think he will end up committing his loyalty to of the Lannister brothers? The whole family is broke, so while I know money will play the biggest factor for practical Bronn, he basically needs to end up weighing the Crown's gold (which he knows is borrowed) vs the unknown quantity of Dany's resources. Or does anyone else think he might be the means of bringing Jamie and Tyrion together? I ask because he is such a consummate mercenary, but the uncertainty of who will pay best is really high here, so it's intriguing to think of whether and how much his actual feelings for each of them will play a role. The second is Dany's fertility in a Jon x Dany end game. So if she believes herself to be infertile, then of course that is not confirmed to be medically sound, but it is de facto infertility for her right up until the point when she is unexpectedly pregnant. For the sake of planning, she is presumably working off of that belief when she considers marital alliances and the line of succession. So what you end up with between the two of them afai can see is a woman who has to have a surprise pregnancy to even know she can be pregnant, and a man who has spent most of his life determined never to give any woman a surprise pregnancy. Okay, Ygritte, but I think that's clearly an aberration to a woman in his own society with similar values ... interested in disagreement here too though. So how does this go down? Will they be so overcome with love/lust that they have sex and Jon just says yolo and takes no precautions? Will Daenerys consult with an archmaester gyno and find out she actually has the spiffiest little womb in Westeros after all? Or will there be some delicious angst with her telling him what she believes to be the truth, and then them trying to figure out where to go from there? Will they just get together after the BfD and not address this at all, kind of leaving it open? There's a million variations here, but we know Dany thinks she cannot have kids and Jon does want kids, so again ... how do we mesh up all these beliefs? That Westeros will need an heir to whatever part of it comes under Dany's rule by the end is pretty obvious, I think leaving it an open question would be a cop out, personally. I just see a lot of willful denial about this in fandom from people with strong feelings on this union. Anti DJ forces want to insist that Daenerys' belief in her infertility is a medical certainty, and its not; whereas pro DJ forces want to insist that her belief makes no difference at all to her behavior, and that's equally illogical.
  6. It's kind of funny to imagine this playing out as a real leak getting busted too though ... D&D: You disappoint us Assistant A. Assistant A: Why, I'm your loyal servant! D&D: So loyal that you posted the spoilers we talked about with you to reddit. Assistant A: No, never, it's a falsehood; it wasn't me! It was Assistant B ... yes Assistant B, the traitor ... D&D: We told Assistant B that Jon would be having sex with Cersei when the Wall fell. We told Assistant C that he would be having sex with Sansa when the Wall fell. We told no one that he would be having sex with Daenerys. No one but you.
  7. Dude I really hope your broken clock theory turns out to be correct here. I mean, it'll be whatever it'll be, but that shit on reddit just reads as so fucking amateurish ... From the link: The Wall will fall at the end of the season, while Jon and Dany have sex. Oh FFS! So Jon is literally dicking around when the war he's spent two seasons trying to prepare for begins? What a crock! ETA: Hey, wasn't there a report recently from one of the 'fallen' that HBO does stage some of the supposed GoT leaks themselves? Maybe they're planting fake spoilers too?
  8. Look dudes, I enjoy being right about as much as anyone else in the world--except maybe on politics and public policies where I'd admittedly rather be wrong-but this is not that level of seriousness. All y'all can take it for granted that for me, it's just guessing and trying to pass this long ass year by without having to do anything so drastic as going out and getting a real life. If I were really serious to me, I wouldn't be stroking my ego about it; I'd be putting money on it. So here goes. Eyes High, if Sansa is dead by the end of s07e03, your first drink that night is on me, homie. Til then, we guess and GRRM laughs ... ETA: I chose e03 because with a 7 episode season that's the definite end of the beginning, and the phrase "early on" seemed kind of vague. I'm amenable to reworking the wording if anyone disagrees with that reasoning though.
  9. I can't see Sansa being dead before LF on the show. Either she takes him down or he takes her down with him, imo.
  10. Well they don't necessarily shoot sequentially so it's worth keeping in mind that this could be a battle scene from the end of the season. Still doesn't quite satisfy me as an explanation why Jon would have headed south but it is a factor worth considering.
  11. And see I took it as embarrassment on Brianne part that Arya would prefer the protection of the Hound - and later no one at all - to what Brianne was offering. Just one more opinion to mix things up!
  12. Ah, gotcha. Yep, "ruling" is the word my eye persistently skipped over, even when I rechecked before posting. Funny how your mind can do that. Thanks for answering me in the same good faith I asked, because I did feel sincerely stupid about it. Okay, so I go back and forth on this in my head. We're all thinking in terms of historical monarchal paradigms, in which, yes, an heir would be really important. And of course, we think this because GRRM draws on such a wealth of real historical events, and because its been important on the show thus far. But isn't this assuming Danerys to be a hypocrite? She said she was going to 'break the wheel.' In fact, she said it specifically after mentioning just how damaging all those years of passing nobility along the family lines had already been for most of the population of the Seven Kingdoms. If she instantly starts wheeling and dealing marriage alliances and breeding and heirs, isn't she basically making 'break the wheel' into 'doing things the exact same way they always were done before, except its different now because it's me?' I have some more thoughts on this that I can't quite articulate right now due to lack of time re: her supporting the Greyjoys, self determination, and institutional memory. But I would really like to hear some other opinions on Danerys' 'break the wheel' speech and what others believe she meant when she said that. Because again, it seems kind of bullshitty if she doesn't intend to enact some sort of dramatic changes in Westeros.
  13. I'm not sure I've read what you posted correctly. Can you please unpack for me why a Jon/Dany pairing would in anyway preclude the possibility of a Tyrion/Sansa pairing or vice versa? This isn't shipping partisanship, I really just don't think I understand you properly in the above paragraphs. Do you know, I actually got the feeling that Jon was kind of tempted by Melisandre in a few different ways and sent her away for that reason. I think he recognized the easiness of slipping into that Stannis mindset ... what is one person against the whole of humanity after all? And that sending her away for him was like a preemptive move for his conscience. Not that I agree he would ever actually get far enough as to accept her sacrificing someone for a victory, but I felt like what was important was that he thought he might. He's certainly already exerpienced how compelling she can be. Either way I agree it wasn't a dumb move on his part.
  14. Deleted! Nverffingmind! It is so irritating that this board won't let you use manual UBB code ... the " button leaves so much extra junk you have to trim off ...
