  1. Speaking of A Crime to Remember -- is its season finished? I don't remember seeing the most recent episode being advertised as the season finale, but the DVR didn't pick up anything this week.
  2. Thanks to the TCM app, yesterday I streamed "Funny Girl" and "A Star Is Born" (the Judy Garland version) while working -- such lush singing! I also loved having the chance to drool over Barbra Streisand's fabulous costumes (with amazing hats).
  3. I had never heard of the case profiled on A Crime to Remember last night -- so bizarre!! That poor girl.
  4. Given the forensics (e.g., no gunpowder residue on Blake), I've always thought he hired someone to do it. From things I've read and other shows I've seen, AS actually glossed over some of Bonny's scamming -- it's surprising no one had killed her sooner.
  5. YES. Dead eyes, monotone responses. Sure, he's an adult who could (in theory) choose to leave the situation, but let's be honest -- his molester is never, ever going to let him go. He's been groomed for this. And it's unfortunate that his family didn't have the means to take the opportunity to MOVE THE HELL AWAY AND BREAK ALL TIES with MK when she was stuck in prison. I think it's the only way he could have had any chance of a normal life.
  6. The potential jurors' photos and *home addresses* being in the newspaper -- OMG! Just insane. Very interesting episode all around!
  7. That was a great episode of American Experience! (And I think it's on Netflix now.) My husband was watching it recently and I got completely sucked in despite myself. I'm curious to see how the Sheppard case is covered -- is this the first crime covered on the show that has pop culture ties (i.e., inspired a popular TV series and then a movie decades later)?
  8. Nope, you're not alone -- I like her show, too.
  9. I recently stumbled onto the MFTV movie "Judgment Day" on YouTube, starring Robert Blake as John List. I think it did a better job of explaining List's mind-set and what an effed-up relationship he had with his mother, which then tainted everything that followed (not excusing his actions, of course). Jean Harris -- I knew very little about this case because of my age (39), but man, was she unsympathetic. I kept wondering why Barbara was so drawn to her.
  10. Re: the surrogacy show -- I could barely focus on the main issue(s) because I was so fascinated by the (not)surrogate's teeth! They looked like they were carved from white hard candy or something. I've never seen veneers (or dentures?) like them. Also, if I'm about to be convicted of multiple felonies and did not act alone, I am bringing my cohorts down with me. Holy crap, what a bizarro story all around.
  11. I went to a small liberal arts college in southern Indiana. Years later, I found out that Sam Shephard was also an alum. Being a true crime fanatic, I enjoy having this random odd connection to a case like that. :) (And I also think he was innocent.) A Crime to Remember: I always appreciate this show's attention to casting, when it shows the actors at the end and then photos of their real-life counterparts. And I'm interested in the "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" case, not knowing much about the story behind the movie.
  12. I want to know how much these people were expecting for their consigned kids' clothes and gear. Stores around here are not generous enough to warrant this type of response!
  13. The Skylar Neese case has also been covered on episodes of Dateline and 20/20 (both of which are on YouTube). For those girls to leave those poor parents hanging like that for so long...unbelievable.
  14. This was a repeat with some updates of a 48 Hours episode -- I remember watching it the first time, and it went into more detail about the weirdness of finding the incriminating items in the trashcan (coincidental emptying of the can because of some unusual city ordinance or something). Very good point. And I'm sure it's preferable to think of your mother as a decent, fun person rather than someone loathed by so many, even if that's the reality.
  15. <off to look for the Dateline episode on this case for some clarification> Seriously -- and I hope the daughter's grief over losing a parent is the only reason she said that even if they hadn't been related, they would have been best friends, because Nancy didn't seem like the kind of "friend" who would reflect well on others in her orbit.
