  1. I'm from the city that was mentioned in last night's monologue where Trump had a "shout and spray" and told folks that he wouldn't have come here except COVID made him need to. And they cheered. As Stephen said, this state has been busy, especially my corner of it. It will be really interesting to see what Stephen's show will be like if the election goes against Trump. He has been the show's focus since Stephen started in 2015. While I doubt it will vanish all at once, Trump has become like a second character on his show (you know he's going to be discussed nightly) and what do you need when it's not there anymore? Whether people think that's for better or for worse, I think it will be a bit of a different show.
  2. This is so weird. I don't blame her, but at this point it's definitely unexpected. I like Anna Faris but I agree that I'm surprised she'd give up this paycheck, even if she didn't love what the character was doing (which is only just a guess on why she's leaving). Admittedly, there could be many other totally reasonable factors, but she's not really blowing up in the movies or anything (not that there are any movies at the moment. But still.). I didn't love what they did with her character BUT I do find her and Bonnie to be the heart of the show and Anna's quips are usually pretty good and I liked her working towards becoming a lawyer, though it is definitely a different show than it was in the beginning. Well. We'll see what happens!
  3. I think the bromance may be over (or at least for now). I think Stephen was even surprised by Christie's stance when it wasn't the stance he had before. When Christie was on other times (when it wasn't election season) I found him actually reasonable (not that I agreed with everything, but it was "reasonable"), much as I assume Stephen did. He was critical of Trump to the point that I figured he would never support him. So now...it's election time and "well, I prefer the republican stuff over the democrat stuff" was just so weak. It almost makes me wonder if someone has photos of Christie and his wife and the pool boy like Falwell...
  4. Like Stephen, there are times when I don't (or didn't) hate Chris Christie, and then he reminds me that he is a slimy, weaselly guy. And last night just proved it, I think once and for all. I'm not saying he had to be pro-Biden, but to still want to help Trump? Ick. And he pooh-poohed all of the legit criticisms and I don't think any of his defenses about what republicans want vs. what democrats want hold any water, especially when Trump is NOT doing those things he claims republicans defend. So. Whatever Chris Christie. I hope you're not invited on again for a good long while.
  5. So Variety has ranked the top 25 Golden Girls episodes. Now, I don't remember every episode to compare in my head, but my initial response is that I'm surprised The Case of the Libertine Belle is only 16th and that Brother, Can You Spare that Jacket is on the list at all. What say you all?
  6. I don't know the order of every episode (I mean, know an early season episode from a late season episode but overall, it's all a jumble) but at one point the girls do become co-owners of Blanche's house (well, their house), though I can't remember if this is before or after one of the ladies or the other moves out. (Also, as we all know, this show's continuity was crap and they were probably never expecting it to be rerun daily 30 years later).
  7. Argh, the ol' Dish guide marked the last few episodes as not new so it didn't record any of them. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's always with this show. I don't get it. So PSA for any other Dish Network folks, you may have missed the last few episodes.
  8. So I just got through this season and I'm not great remembering past plot points, so could someone remind me why Villanelle is not arrested on sight? Was something said or done in previous seasons that allows her to show up at their office and...nothing. Just curious staring. Is it to have an idea what The Twelve is doing? Is it because of Eve? Is it because the storyline necessitates Villanelle being out and about?
  9. Mary Pat Gleason who played the Mary that died in this episode, just died. It's probably easier to name all the shows she wasn't in.
  10. I was like, 11 when I picked my AOL screenname and though I don't use AOL to dial up to the internet anymore, I also still have my original email address! I do have a gmail account for more professional endeavors, but yeah, my AOL account is still my main one. This thread suddenly has me wondering what would happen if they went out of business! That address has been in use for 25+ years now. I'd be sad to lose it (and a little embarrassed about being sad to lose it).
  11. So all these posts about how they should include COVID-19 next season reminded me...this show started out being a few years behind us, right? I am certain I read that this was the case. Harris was born in 1996 but was obviously not over 20 when the show started. At what point did they say "the hell with that!"? They had Mark watching the debate for 2020 candidates live so that is the one instance I can think of where they just sped up time. Is anyone in the know about when they decided to just drop the whole few years behind thing? Or did they just forget they were even doing that?
  12. Yes, that really made me roll my eyes. You don't get back together with someone you don't love because won't you think of the children!?! Co-parent in a calm, rational, non-hateful way. Get that kid a different therapist. I realize it must be plot-driven so their hands were tied, but it was dumb. They could have made it that her relationship with Nolan made her miss all the red flags her son was giving and she needed to break up to be there for her kid, who comes first. That would have made more sense (at least to me), especially during an episode with juvenile delinquents who could probably also use more parental guidance! Full circle and all that. Blergh.
  13. Well, that confirms that--last night's episode *was* new. My Dish DVR didn't record a new episode last night (though it has been). Damn it, Dish, you had one job.
  14. I am fairly certain that was Thomas Lennon. I was getting ready for the day while I was watching this morning and wasn't paying complete attention, and wondered if that was the real guy as well (since I've never watched it. I thought it was weird he would be able to communicate if he was in fact in jail), but when the guy started to sing, I was like "that sounds exactly like Thomas Lennon", so that's my final answer. I didn't see your post until after I posted--but it's so funny that it's the singing that did it for me too. Up until then I was unsure then, bam, nope, that's Thomas Lennon! Edit: My bad! I read your post and immediately commented and forgot to read other posts first so it seems this was asked and answered! But I'll leave it up anyway because I have weaponized narcissism (seriously, that guy was very interesting).
  15. It was a parody song of Flo Rida's "My House" with a social distancing twist (and I think the song's chorus is quite catchy, anyway). But that wasn't a "real song" of hers (well, it is now, but you know what I mean). I was actually surprised about it but thought it was funny once I realized what she was doing.
  16. I hope you DTMFA. He sounds awful. Why would anyone want to be with someone who can't just be honest that they like you and/or puts the onus of the relationship on you? Nope on out of there. Do you think they changed it because of the Coronavirus? "Hot Zone" may have sounded alarming at the time or something. And seriously, why are they being so terrible to Christy? There are plenty of non-relationship story lines for her, like her internship or school or her kids, or Marie Kondo-ing the apartment, or watching TV, or reading a book. Literally anything else would be less painful than her current story lines.
  17. I live for Jim Anchorton segments. "In your professional cosmetology opinion, what color is Trump's face?" "The president has made a vow he's going to win every single African American vote in 2020...is he going to get your vote?" "He's not going to get my vote--" "Are you calling the president a liar?" "Oh yeah, most definitely!"
  18. My sister bought me a bag once from...Big Lots. Yes, really.
  19. Those of us who have a clue about the greater world out there and see how much better other countries have it do find it astounding. But there are still many people out there who rail against it. "You chose to have a baby! Why should I have to support you!" and bullshit like that.
  20. I just want to know what Janet could possibly not know that Alexa does!
  21. The one guy who has conversations with himself mentioned probably the one designer I've recognized on the show in a while--Gordon Gartrelle! "Maybe if you tuck it in a little..." "It's tucked into my socks!"
  22. They probably sent it Express and didn't use the Yokel service.
  23. I really enjoyed Jim Anchorton trying to find Trump's new African American (I recognize these are not normal words to write). "Can I look at it (Trump's cutout) any way I want?" <stares hard> "You couldn't pay me enough!" "This is an unpaid position. "That's a deal breaker." Same ya'll. Same.
  24. Also not a quote, but I always enjoy the moment when the girls are sitting and looking at the Christmas tree and Rose sings the first line of The First Noel and Blanche and Dorothy are just about to join it when Rose starts off with another story. Just them taking a breath to join in the singing and then getting Story Blocked always amuses me even though it's such a small thing.
  25. I generally avoid Erie for all fests (just because of traffic, people, etc.), but that food did look good and I may have to revisit this in the future. I have not eaten at the restaurant, but I have colleagues who have and they said the food was really good. The prices seemed really good (for example, $9 for a pulled pork sandwich and side--good portions). They were overall very pleased. I will report back if I end up going.
