  1. As soon as the piano rang out the first chords, I audibly yelled "Nooooooo". Almost 3 years ago, I sang "Lullabye" to my daughter in a dark, almost empty room in the NICU at 2am. My wife was recovering from the emergency c section and couldn't even hold our first child. I was relaying updates as best I could, not knowing who to spend my time with, and going crazy running around the hospital. (We're all happy and healthy now, fwiw) I was exhausted, scared, and pacing the floor when the lone nurse said "Sing to her. She knows your voice". So I sang this song. I am a half decent singer and even though I wasn't at my best, I think it calmed daddy and baby down, but left the nurse in tears. She apologized, saying she lost her dad the previous year and he sang it to her all the time. I used a lot of words here to say that I cried a lot watching them do this song.
  2. I had one major issue with this episode. Several minor ones, but one I just can't get over. After they rescue the schizophrenic from the gas leak and the whole apartment building goes up in a giant fireball. JUD JUST FREAKING STOOD THERE SMIRKING. Would a guy with severe PTSD who just lost his whole company to a huge explosion have ZERO reaction to a huge explosion involving his new company? The show missed a huge opportunity to show his reaction to another group of firefighters in imminent danger of exploding. Instead, they showed him over the captain's shoulder, looking bemused at the giant scary explosion he just witnessed more firefighters running and barely escaping from. That's not how you show a character with supposed PTSD react to an explosion. It was all I could think about for the rest of the show. That and checking for the strings that hold Liv Tyler up. Yeesh.
  3. After they showed the 1998 college prep book, my wife asked me if the props department got luka from 1998 "ER" as well for this ep. The man didn't age.
  4. I thought they were setting up Susana for a win, since they kept her 2 weeks over someone else when her cake was judged more harshly (editing, I guess), but I liked Jane. I think it might be the boozy-floozy thing (IMO, She's really pretty and I'm a 40yo man) but I always enjoyed her vignettes where she'd burst out laughing. She also had dazzling teeth so I liked seeing her laugh and smile. Susana never connected with me. Dunno why. Put me in the "I wanted Dan to get his shop" camp, too.
  5. I admit, I laughed out loud more than once during this show. I may be in the minority, but Norm MacDonald's delivery cracks me up. I'm all in on this show.
