  1. IMDb: Detailed recap: celebdirtylaundry.com/2024/fbi-recap-04-09-24-season-6-episode-8-phantom
  2. Probably regional. I was living 30 miles north of Chicago when I used to drive past the Grainger property, and the clue was: William W. of this last name founded his eponymous "for the ones who get it done" industrial supply company in Chicago in 1927 Still, I didn't get it. But I did leave the area 3+ years ago and have an aging memory filled with other stuff — little of which seems to be FJ material. But, then again, I don't recall ever seeing or hearing that motto — just riding past their huge campus and wondering what kind of business it was. IIRC, there was a stop light at their entrance. Which station? I had canceled cable in 2009, so I use antenna, Hulu, etc.
  3. Kidding. Of course no guns. Double Phew!! It seems about once a year I am surprised/traumatized to learn someone has a gun, and it's been about a year.
  4. I used to drive by the big Grainger signs about once a week, and I didn't get it. I had wanted Andrew to win today, but after the heartwarming postgame, I was happy with the outcome. Plus, ditto on this:
  5. On my 2 Roku TVs (different ages and manufacturers, so look different and work differently in some ways), if I just turn off the TV without leaving the streaming app, when I turn it back on I am at the Roku home screen.
  6. Oh, I can explain the coats! 👋 Elsbeth came from Chicago!
  7. Heh, and now I really want them to introduce a ghost (maybe one Sam will encounter away from the Woodstone) who is played by some wonderful old comedian, being a ghost who did die of old age. 😉
  8. I'm glad you got to experience it, @AgathaC! Rochester NY is not a destination location either. I wonder if some of the out-of-staters drove for several hours yesterday to get out from under the clouds. I doubt I'll still be alive in 2045, and I'm not physically up for traveling much even now, but for those inspired by yesterday's celestial event, there will be a total solar eclipse in Mallorca Spain on August 12, 2026. It was sunny the day before and is sunny today, so kind of a let-down. But while I was just finishing up a double portrait watercolor for my daughter's in-laws, I listened to a local program, “Connections With Evan Dawson,” that was kind of an eclipse debriefing with astrophysicists and local folks chiming in. The podcast isn't up yet, but should be tomorrow, here: wxxinews.org/podcast/connections It provided an emotional release for me. I recommend it for anyone who had a lot of cloud cover yesterday and felt disappointed. _____ ETA: The podcast from the day after the eclipse is up now: wxxinews.org/show/connections/2024-04-09/reactions-to-the-total-solar-eclipse
  9. Thank you! I added links from these sites to Ep 3, outfits labeled 2 & 5 above.
  10. There is now a Wardrobe Thread. Of course, that does not mean Elsbeth’s wardrobe will not be mentioned in the episode threads. But having a dedicated thread should minimize our anyone's tendency to gush. Did I already say how much I coveted that polka dot blouse?😉
  11. I did too, but just for a moment because I was at work.
  12. Wow! Now I understand why folks on the streaming radio were talking about seeing "the diamond ring." Too cloudy here to see anything even though we had 3 minutes and 38 seconds of totality. It did get pitch dark indoors and quite dark outside. The birds did their evening tweeting right before it got dark. It got colder, but it was already cold, so not much different. I only have an iPhone 7, so this is only approximately what the sky looked like at totality: What was weird was that the sky looked lighter as the light got darker. My sister messaged from Ontario on Lake Huron. They had full sun and 88% totality.
  13. Episode 3 (cont.) Outfit 4: Outfit 5: See also: shopyourtv.com/elsbeth-season-1-episode-3-elsbeths-tapestry-jacket/ Outfit 6: Outfit 7: Outfit 8:
  14. I counted 8 outfits from episode 3, so I'll link the ones above interspersed in order of appearance with the others I've taken pictures of from my screen with my phone: Outfit 1: Elsbeth wears pins: Outfit 2: (I f'love the polka dot blouse, but oy! The price$$$$!) Outfit 3: (Outfits 4-8 in the following post)
  15. Cloudy here too.😕 But that’s supposed to mean total darkness in a little over half an hour from now. So hopefully all the out-of-towners can bond over that phenomenon.
  16. Expand Your response got me thinking…🤔💭🙇‍♀️💬 In addition to likely being a bit "classist," the person who used the term "scruffy" was 84-years-old. He also said he avoided taking cabs, but didn't explain why. You also thought he might be "prejudiced," which kind of comes with the territory at age 84 today, but perhaps at 84 he himself had experienced frightening prejudice as a possibly gay man? Regardless, I had "fun" looking up the history of NYC cabs, but could not find much regarding dress-codes then and now. But TAXI: A History of the New York Taxi Cab does have a couple of great 19th century images and an amusing comment that is a bit of family lore, so might be embellished:
  17. I think the writers are just purposely making Carol a temporary main character who we will be happy to see leave when Sheila's maternity leave is over.
  18. Today's NY Times' Metropolitan Diary section included a bit of an antidote to our collective nervousness about potentially violent encounters these days:
  19. Will do! I'll be eclipse-focused from about 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. ET today. Yesterday the parking lots by the Lake Ontario beach were nearly full with smiley tourists out for a pre-eclipse stroll. Motels have been booked to capacity since the eclipse dates opened a year ago. Wegman's stores are closing for an hour to give their employees an opportunity to experience the eclipse. Our garbage was picked up early so the garbage men could have the afternoon off. Here's my eclipse-inspired Wordle post of the day: (in a spoiler tag for now so no one clicks on the link who has not yet done their Wordling for the day) Let me know if you hit a pay-wall, and I'll post the text and emojis of the comment too. Comments don't have "gift" links, but I don't think they're behind the paywall since their content is not copyrighted. Here's an eclipse photo someone else posted from 2017. It shows leaf shadows: And here is mine from Aug 21, 2017, 30 miles north of Chicago: Unfortunately there are no tree leaves here now in Rochester, NY.
  20. Yes, but still "abrupt," or even "abbreviated." We can cobble together what happened, but these days writers seem to think it's better to leave quite a bit open to speculation.
  21. The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is cool. Here in Rochester NY the Strong Museum of Play has a small but very cool aquarium with weird looking fish that my little grandson loves. According to my local weather person here in Rochester: Eclipse: 2:07 to 4:33 p.m. Totality / Darkness Timing: 3:20 to 3:24 p.m. (3 minutes and 38 seconds) — when it "should" be safe to look at the corona without safety glasses. I'm 99% sure I'm skipping that part. I don't trust myself to get it right. Yes! I had a photo of the crescent leaf shadows from 2017. But that was in August. Our trees have no leaves yet. Maybe twig shadows? But I'll be viewing from my apartment balcony without any tree shadows.
  22. I agree with your entire post. I am currently only able to watch the episodes without interruption (pixelation) on my laptop on CBS the day after. (Antennas, and Rokus, and streaming passwords, oh my!) So imagine my dismay when I thought I had perfect screen captures of at least 5 of Elsbeth's wardrobe changes in this episode to share here, only to see they were plain black rectangles. There are a couple here. But nothing on WornOnTV.net yet. I may go back and take pictures of my laptop with my phone later. Unless someone else wants to. LOL. If nothing else, it might be "fun" to note how many wardrobe changes she had. But likely all that will come out in an interview later.
  23. As they were arresting her we have this bit of dialog from arguably 2 unreliable narrators in the fraught situation: [ISOBEL] Marina Kostova, you're under arrest. You can't do this to me. I'm a diplomat. Watch me. I doubt we'll revisit this and get closure, but that seems to be par for the TV course these days. I think diplomatic immunity goes away if there's a murder — based upon my case studies at L&O's Hudson U, — or was that something Adrian Monk said, and so only applies in California? Or, maybe this will be her kid so we don't have to hear about IVF?
