  1. Or… they knew it had been leaked (as is common these days) and decided to own it? But I hope it’s like when:
  2. I think my daughter with the kids and her husband mentioned in passing the concept of both parents not flying on the same plane (but they do fly together). But I do think it's one of those memes that made its way into this episode plot. Do neither Scola nor Nina have any remaining parents or siblings or close aunts or cousins? I know it makes it easier to not have to cast them, but maybe they're going to need at least one godparent who doesn't get shot at every week because they are seemingly the only crime fighters in the city, and who are not on call 24/7/365.
  3. If there's an award for Best Glass Half Full Post, this one gets it!👏🙌 And now, on a darker note: I had forgotten about Hetty's mother being institutionalized — for "hysteria," right? In the 1930s, Rosemary Kennedy was lobotomized (nps.gov/articles/000/rosemary-kennedy-the-eldest-kennedy-daughter.htm, 🫣 → wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosemary_Kennedy#Lobotomy). That would be Alberta's era, right? Hetty's story stressed that she killed herself to save her son. But it was also seemingly out of a sense of duty to preserving the status of the family, right? And failure to do so had serious consequences, so it wasn't just a "keeping up appearances" kind of thing. I guess many wealthy have realized throughout history that they're just a coup away from the gallows or homelessness. But Hetty's was a more personal motive.
  4. Was this Aurora Colorado? Or…? This episode was like all of those shows I don't watch with the creepy creepsters. Now I'm really annoyed that this show was renewed but So Help Me Todd was cancelled. Sorry. </rant>
  5. I posted inquiries about @walnutqueen in a few places. I'll let all y'all know if I hear anything.
  6. The title of this episode is so meta: "Holes Are Bad." Yes, it's Thor's speech pattern, but it also is a universal fact referring to the Holes of depression that lead to self harm. ++++++++++++++++++++ Which specifies: Current Season Courtesy: Do not reveal spoilers for upcoming episodes or later parts of the current season in threads dedicated to a specific episode. Upthread 2 of us have posted the link to the next episode's thread. Here it is again: forums.primetimer.com/topic/145599-s03e09-the-travelling-agent/ It's understandable that people reading spoilers here might conclude this is the place to discuss them if they just aren't reading that it's a problem, or even noticing that this is an episode thread. And posters who are apologizing may not be knowledgeable about how to edit their spoilery posts. I think it varies slightly with settings and browsers, but, for me, the edit feature is revealed by clicking on the three dots (…) in the top right of my post: The top right is the last place English readers look. The "Edit" feature was not always hidden. So it's understandable people might not know they can edit the spoilers out of their posts. The nuclear option is to report the spoiler posts, hopefully using non-accusatory text about them containing spoilers. To do this, at the lower left of the post (on my settings and browser) click on the triangle with the exclamation point:
  7. OMG. I just saw Match Game 73 (Episode 75) (October 26, 1973) in which Gene Rayburn has (may I say it?) "Met his Match" in contestant Nancy Cox, who steps out from behind the contestant desk in hot pants so short I wasn't sure if it was a mini skirt or…? LOL:
  8. I f'loved that scene, but I'm also partial to the song and the original movie. Still, that would've made a great series finale. 😭
  9. Here's the link to the next episode discussion:
  10. Been there; done that. Lather, rinse, repeat. And then there's getting to the final interview and finding out they lost funding for the position. I'm 70. Maybe imagine me as your elderly aunt to giving you an "atta-girl!" or maybe "Whoo-hoo!" would be the current way to express it. I was going to post something else, but instead copied and pasted it into a text file for the next time I talk to my therapist. Or I might go find the family problems thread.
  11. Yes, Linda Lavin is 86. I'm "only" 70 and I'd need to have a trailer on set for naps if it was more than a walk-on part, LOL. But, looking at Linda Lavin's IMDb page, it looks like she may have been just too busy for a bigger part.
  12. A hat, a puffy jacket, and possibly 4" Doc Martens would explain the failure of the stoned eye witness to identify the killer as a woman.
  13. This dress Elbeth wore in Episode:1x04 - "Love Knocked Off," from Neiman Marcus is "sold out." Shucks! It would look so perfect on me to wear to my imaginary interview on late night TV. I think I'd want a long cigarette holder (fitted with a candie cigarette) to have something to do with my hands.
  14. Great points,☝︎ @wknt3! Regarding: I think there's *some* truth in this, but it's not being executed very well. I watch a lot of old shows that I didn't see in their first runs and notice that the earliest shows seem influenced by the old radio dramas in that they do literally tell the story (like Perry Mason). But as TV production came into its own, and as screen resolution improved, car chases, action scenes with fights, and scenes without dialog due to stealth or romance became the norm. Now, as a viewer who is guilty of multitasking while a show is on, being able to hear lines describing the plot are helpful. *However*, if it's a show I really like, I'm not going to multitask other than during commercials. Still, having writers give the characters lines that recap or repeat important plot points is a good idea, if it's done well, and and especially if the plot is complex (like this episode). However, it seems like they're rushing through the story recapping lines as a necessary evil rather than as a storytelling tool, expecting good ol' shapeshifter et al. to repost the lines here (4 posts above👆) if the viewers didn't catch them, and, even then, they tend to be as clear as mud.💩
  15. Yes, Elsbeth sees things others miss, but she's not a luddite either. We've seen her use her cell phone as a distraction and a recording device. And, of course, she identified the killer in the earlier episode by his 2 spaces after periods. I identify with Elsbeth's ability to see what others miss, but, whereas I think she only pretends to miss what others see, I really do miss a lot. 🙃 In contrast to Elsbeth's just not needing to rely on technology, yesterday I caught most of the rerun of "Mr. Monk and the Really, Really Dead Guy," which first aired in 2007. Monk was called "a dinosaur" because he was woefully behind the times WRT technology, but what really dated the 2007 episode was how Captain Stottlemeyer disses the "new" technology too. It's a bit of a time capsule of a script.
  16. I get them with my $35-$70 Mohu Leaf antennas, taped onto the wall facing the broadcast signal, adjacent to the ceiling: store.gomohu.com/leaf-antennas.html Yes. He was a superior MC on that reboot. Such a shame.
  17. But doesn't the CW have mostly B-list actors? Sorry if I'm wrong about that.
  18. But assuming the gf's intent was not malicious or for her own financial gain, maybe Brenda the DA can get her to flip on her supplier of blackmarket ED drugs in exchange for probation and community service.
  19. @BetyBee, I like watching the Match Game (1973 -1982) and Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour (1983) and Tattletales (1974-1977) on BUZZR. It's fun to guess what the popular answer would be for those times. And I like looking up the stars to see what became of them, although it's sad that a lot of them died of diseases that would not be so fatal today. However, a lot of the humor is a cringe fest. I should probably swap out some of that time listening to uplifting podcasts, like Hidden Brain, or just my local public radio. But the nice thing about the game shows is that you can go answer a phone call and come back and it doesn't matter. And you can just listen to it while doing other stuff. If you don't get BUZZR on your TV, it's free at buzzrtv.com/watch In the last couple of years I've been watching the original Perry Mason and Matlock, but I'm nearing the end of that obsession.
  20. I’m reaching the Acceptance stage of mourning this show. This show will likely appear on lists of “Shows Cancelled Too Soon.” BrainDead (2016) is the show that comes to my mind as the prime example of a show that should have continued. Like So Help Me Todd, it had A-listers in its cast. I suppose the Writers Strike didn’t help So Help Me Todd either.
  21. A bunch of former mods decided to post on Reddit and/or a new site. So they’re as well as they were before. But I think there was a lot of burnout, etc.
  22. 🤣🥰 I’d offer you half of the zucchini muffin I brought home from my daughter’s house yesterday, but it’s long gone. It disappeared before I even thought about taking a picture to share.
  23. @Simba122504, the mad face I used to respond to your post is just for fun. I've never used it before. I'm just kidding along with you that your VCR status got the show canceled. 🥰 And I'm pretty sure they said the ratings were good.
  24. The PrimeTimer(?) interview with Rebecca Wisocky about this episode is pretty great: primetimer.com/interviews/ghosts-hetty-death-revealed-flower-rebecca-wisocky-cbs In the flashback at the beginning of the episode, Hetty's lawyer George says: "They'll take your money, your homes..." Did the actor misspeak? Or did Hetty have "homes" plural, as in more than one? Perhaps a neighboring home that the ghosts might be "permitted" to inhabit? Maybe that's where Prudence is? Yes. I think having no rights as a woman probably made her depressed and anxious. And, yes, everything she's ever said about opium made it sound like it was her "medicine" for when she was unhappy.
  25. I seem to recall from an exam at Hudson U's School of Law & Order that it's all about intent. 😉 The coach intended harm, the gf did not. So maybe the coach gets whatever the sentence is for Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, and the gf gets off?
