  1. I’m so late to the party but this shit is too stupid for life. Has no connection to the first season and has suddenly become an after-school special with a few pesky zombies and a mind-numbingly repetitive message.
  2. Such a pet peeve of mine when shows act like Black folks are so generic and monolithic that any shade of Black actor can be cast to replace any other Black actor. Wtf is Liam suddenly 3 shades darker? It’s so distracting, every scene with new Liam takes me completely out of the show.
  3. A whole episode of just Molly—ugh! Love the actress; don’t love the character or her story line.
  4. This really can’t be said enough. Just no. NO!
  5. Feel like I must have missed something. They specifically didn’t do anything to protect her or avenge her. Isn’t that why she’s all pissed?
  6. I know but he’s gone now. I just think it’s sad she didn’t pursue her dream once his negativity was out of the way. Also, can’t believe there was no discussion here of Marty taking the FBI deal. That seems HUGE! But I guess everyone is just binge-watching at this point—no breaks for discussion 🙂
  7. Except he literally did. He knew Del worked for the cartel and he made a conscious decision to work for them pre-Ozark even though he had serious misgivings. He was living in a state of denial if he thought he could ever easily extricate himself from a life of crime. Unrelated: why doesn’t Ruth upgrade her living situation?! She’s making over $100k a year.
  8. I might be the only one, but I actually liked Daniel and thought he was nice to Issa. (None of Houston boys flakiness—I cant remember his name). Could have been a perfectly good rebound relationship, even if not long-term. I was hoping she was going to call him for help and give us a few episodes of their great chemistry together.
  9. It’s a super food packed with protein and calories and helps you feel sated for a long period of time. That’s why Tyson bought it inn EoE to give himself a performance advantage. It’s the perfect Survivor food.
  10. This is the only returning players concept I could totally get behind. The hunger to win and redeem themselves is exactly what’s missing this season. This is a sound theory but i still hate the idea of the jury picking the least offensive or most likable player. This is Survivor, dammit—I always want the player who has actively worked hardest to outwit and outlast to win, even if they aren’t the player I like most. Case in point: Russel’s first season. Not my favorite person/personality but he was bold and had game-play we hadn’t previously seen on the show. It was unforgivably rude. I was a big fan of her Sandra blindside and have been looking forward to another bold move from her but that was super dismissive and specific. Another great idea I’d like to see happen. It would reveal what people really think without being swayed by overly-influential personalities. One of the things I liked in the early Survivor days—you didn’t always know how TC would turn out, or what people were thinking. I kind of hate when 6 people already know who’s going out and we’re just tuning in to see the vote outcome. I’d enjoy a season or at least an episode of players also not knowing how the vote is going to pan out.
  11. Tony finally made the play I’ve been yelling at the screen for about 10 years— make a big, unexpected move; late in the day; with a trusted few. I was worried Jeremy was going to wuss out! It was so satisfying to watch it succeed. I’ve previously found Tony exhausting to listen to but he’s capable of the wily, enthusiastic game play I want in a Survivor winner. He’s won me over— in a season where I had no clear preference going in. I’ll be happy if he or Denise win, or if Natalie makes it back in somehow and gets to the end.
  12. Hated every minute of the protracted family visit and I agree with the poster who said this was the most-boring/least-satisfying épisode in twenty years of Survivor! Usually, the only value of the family visit is the drama that takes place back at camp because someone is inevitably butt hurt they weren’t chosen to go on the reward—every now and then that results in alliance discord and in unexpected vote. But this was just a half episode of UGH. At least make it a 90-minute episode if you’re going to add 30 minutes of time-wasting.
  13. Right but missing from the entire long, drawn out episode. There was just no reprieve from the tedious new story with at least well-liked characters. The setting of the park could have provided endless story possibilities, eventually leading to the uprising. Rather they hurried that up and tore us right out of the park into a completely new setting and story line. We could have been perfectly entertained for several seasons by the back stories and experiences of the individual hosts like they did with Aketcha. And I would have loved a philosophical exploration of what it means to be a person—at what point should we consider an AI to have become a sentient being, if ever. Instead after the time and expense of all the world building, we’re left with some basic bad-guys-in-business show set in the future while Man in the High Castle-West World edition takes place back on the island. They are going to have to do some SERIOUS explaining for it to make any sense that Maeve would ever be the least bit satisfied or cooperative going back to being a parkbot playing make believe.
  14. I found it utterly boring and painful because it seemed like I was just watching some random show i knew nothing about and didn’t care to. With the exception of 3 familiar faces, this show had no relationship to the two seasons I already invested in of a very particular show. Also, are the writers clueless? Are they unaware of the popularity of Maeve and company? No mention of them whatsoever. I may sit out future episodes unless some of the discussion here indicates they might be worth it can’t believe this is what we waited almost 2 years for.
  15. Why did the Mr Phillips clone freeze to death and where did he go to that was just a rope’s length away? Is Veidt trapped on Mars on a short leash within a tiny habitable biosphere created for him?
  16. Loved the pilot. Have zero knowledge of any of the source material and don’t want to. I know there’s a separate “Book Talk” area for posts and nothing here counts as that but honestly, if there are going to continue to be countless casual references to things learned in the graphic novel or movie, it’s just going to diminish the universe-building us newbies are getting to experience in the series. It already has. From the few comments here I already have insights into the squids, importance of Rorschach tests, some connection to Mars, etc. It would suck to have to skip the forum for the duration of what looks like a show with lots to discuss.
  17. I think he thinks there’s more honor in being taken down by one of his own than by an outsider.
  18. So I re-watched the finale and seeing it with the knowledge of how it ends, I have a totally new perspective. I now agree Logan spent the entire episode testing his potential successors, which included goading Ken to turn on him because he (and only he) understood the board would only accept him (Logan) as the sacrifice. Going around the table getting everyone’s input and nudging people to throw others under the bus was part of the test. Shiv initially seems like she has the killer instinct he so admired but in the end when she asks for Tom to be spared, she fails the ‘killer’ test. They even have a scene of a cartoonish Logan getting right up in her face saying the decision to sacrifice Tom is just the kind of thing a worthy successor would be able to do. Roman excludes himself by protecting Gerry, and general show of weakness just targeting low level Frank and Greg. And so for the last half of the episode you see Logan mercilessly provoking Ken: he dismisses Naomi out of the blue even though Ken says he was previously ok with it; he out of the blue ask Ken to set up a meeting with Stewy, even though earlier in the episode he won’t consider it. He knows it will involve Ken having to grovel and swallow what’s left of his pride. Add to that, at the actual meeting, without warning, his offer to Stewy includes cutting out Ken. Then when he finally announces to Ken he will in fact have to be the sacrifice, he takes the opportunity to tell him once again what a loser he is, withholds the fatherly approval he know Ken seeks so badly and, mocks him for not having any killer instinct. I say his entire plan was to find a way to have himself removed from the board in way that didn’t look like giving up so he could look like an unflinching titan until the end. Any of his kids would have suited him but Ken was the only one to pass his various ‘feats of strength’. Just because it was his plan though, doesn’t mean he’ll necessarily love the results (and hates that the board wanted him gone in the first place) and I’m so looking forward to the Season 3 power struggles, betrayals of loyalty and general mind fucks.
  19. The city of Rome is named after Romulus. I’m pretty sure his name is just Roman and he’s making a play on the notion of the City of Romulus.
  20. Ha! Showing your age a bit there, but I love it and I’m right there with you! They kept the camera on Logan’s face so long, I was waiting for a little smirk to prove this was the plan all along but since his expression never changed, while I agree it was a look of pride, I don’t think it was Logan’s master plan. I think it started earlier: I feel like maybe sending Naomi away so unceremoniously, having to grovel with Stewy yet again, and then being denied his Dad’s approved for the gazillionth time might have just been too much and he finally cracked. That, or this has been an excellent season-long-con (on Ken’s part). Actually, in the previous finale, I actually got the tiny feeling Logan did in fact care for him when he thought his son’s life would be ruined over the waiter’s death. Even though he exploited it for his own uses, I did get the feeling it was also done out of concern for him. Actually, pretty early on, Ken acknowledges Greg’s prowess in keeping the copies (though I don’t think he knows the details—just that Greg has made some shrewd move. I think it was in season 1 maybe). I think that’s at least somewhat related to why he gets Greg the snazzy apartment in his building. Their connection has been cultivating over quite some time. He and Ken have been bonding over time: watching over Ken, confiding in him, getting him drugs, being gifted the apartment by Ken, etc. Overall, a great finale, great season. And it was the cherry on top to have Tom finally verbalize the fucked-up-ness of Shiv proposing an open relationship on their wedding day. I feel like no lose ends left dangling as a viewer. If only all my shows could be this satisfying.

I loved it. I feel like maybe sending Naomi away so unceremoniously, having to grovel with Stu yet again, and then being denied his Dad’s approved for the gazillionth time might have just been too much and he finally cracked. That, or this has been an excellent season-long-con. Unrelated, but it was also satisfying to have Tom finally verbalize the fucked-up-ness of proposing an open relationship on their wedding day moments after confessing to cheating.
  22. Just binged this in 3 days. Total wreck of what started as arguably the most thought-provoking show out there. If the writers' goal was that at the end I would be mostly bored by a totally improbable escape and practically praying for the demise of the show's star (whose character I've come to despise), then well done, show. Only 2 highlights of this entire episode: Serena being arrested and the few nanoseconds, I hoped the show would do something shocking and June's limp body would turn out to be dead. I could totally get on board for a June-less Season 4--otherwise, count me out. What a steaming pile of shit this entire season was. I mean, the entire conceit of June's master plan is so basically flawed: why would children be excited and willing to leave the only home they know, love, and remember? Who has ever kept 52 children under the age of 13 silently cooperative for hours at a time, much less stumbling around in the dark, tired and probably cranky? Why wasn't there a complete shut-down of Gilead as wives became aware children have been missing for hours? As with the rest of the Season 3, where the fuck are Commander Lawrence's guards? What power does gun-toting June really have? She can't really discharge that weapon anywhere in the house without inviting the attention of neighbors (or Lawrence's fucking MIA guards). Why does Lawrence give in when he says he wants the whole thing put on hold? Because June said no in a really creepy voice? Why does that scare him into submission? Canadians apparently know all about the plane's arriving stowaway but Gilead has no clue? All the hours this season wasted on long, slow close-ups of June's face could have been better spent actually developing stories that helped the plot make any fucking sense at all and show us how any of these things make any sense. Why have the little girl that was reunited with her father, state clearly 15 minutes before the reunion scene that she has no memory of life before Gilead? It's like a workshop in terrible writing. I'm almost finished with Atwood's follow-up book in less than 3 days. These half-wits responsible for Season 3, really should have just waited for the actual writer in the room to show them how to develop a plausible and engaging continuation of the original story. Season 3 has been such a disservice to a compelling and politically relevant thought experiment that will now be more remembered as this cut-rate-dystopian-Lifetime-movie-sopa-opera.
  23. I'm convinced these writers must be some repressed and deluded incels with no concept of how women think or act. It's the only reasonable explanation for why they've managed to re-write the hero of their story as someone we all reasonably detest and who is compelled to act completely illogically and with zero sense of self-preservation at every step.
  24. That was its real power & impact, and now all this shit writing has gotten this message lost. I view this as the biggest loss--reducing such a powerful political forbearance to cheap, poorly written, dystopian soap opera.
  25. Bless you! I bask in all your contempt & bitterness and share 100% in your objection to this shit writing and the ruination of a horribly perfect universe we were introduced to in Seasons 1 and 2. It requires a complete suspension of all belief and common sense to view the June in this episode as capable of any successful rebellion on rallying.
