  1. When a reporter asked Ringo Starr why he always looked so sad, doesn't the story go, he said, "It's just me face." I think Mei just naturally looks a bit severe, though she does exhibit a bit of arrogance sometimes. She's intense, but now that I've seen her for a while, I don't think she's overly arrogant. She seems like she just knows what she can do and has a lot of confidence, and she doesn't deal in any of the false modesty or self-deprecation or insecurities a lot of people throw out. And when she messes up, she knows and admits and definitely doesn't like it. But it's all cut and dried and plain with her.

    S05.E05: Self Help

I enjoyed the episode for the most part. I could see everything just fine. They were playing with chiaroscuro effect in the scene between Maggie and Glen and the sex scene, and they did the silhouette thing with Abraham and Glen, but that was all deliberate. The zombie horde scene was bright on my screen. Had no trouble making them out. Did you guys accidentally select the non-HD version? I do that all the time to my husband's annoyance. ;) But, oh my word, did I want someone to gank Abraham when he was bellowing in the middle of the road. The enormous zombie horde isn't THAT far away, moron. Sound carries.
  3. I watched this several months ago on Youtube. I kept skipping over parts that bored me, but I I did enjoy it overall. I kind of hated the casting of Elizabeth and was meh on Darcy. But what I really hated was how Colonel F. came across. It just feels like their relationship with him is totally screwed now. Maybe it's a holdover from P&P fanfic, but he's almost always a staunch ally, and it makes me sad! :) I think Wickham and Lydia were well-cast. It was kind of jarring to see Georgiana get all shirty with Elizabeth in the one scene when they were talking marriage stuff. But I suppose that was her Darcy coming through.
  4. I am utterly grateful they didn't recreate the comic version of Michonne's time with the Governor. I hated reading it. On the screen it would have been unbearable, and it's lazy writing, that idea that the way to make a woman interesting/relatable is to rape her. It's lazy writing for any character, but it's exactly what happens all the time. Oh, this man's wife and kids died horribly, Protagonist is so deep and angsty and compelling now! Degrade this woman, oh she's suffered, now I find her to be a sympathetic character. It's so gross.
  5. Did anyone else get a bit skeptical when Tyrese told Carol he killed the guy who threatened Judith, and he stopped her from going inside a little too quickly? I think he may have left him alive, and it will come back and haunt them later. I'm especially suspicious because he told the guy Judith's name. I'm worried that somehow, it's going to cause problems at some point.
