  1. As an older person (66!), I watch this and think how glad I am I don’t have to do the club scene anymore.  (Not that I loved it that much in my 20’s, either! 😂).   It looks exhausting, and I hate having to shout to be heard.  lol

I really felt for the cheftestants working out there in the steamy heat of a cornfield, mostly unshaded.  The growing cornstalks give off an extra boost of humidity to an already humid (July?) day.  I noticed the judges had a shade umbrella over their table.

There were several guest tables with umbrellas.  I, too,  was concerned that the chefs didn’t have shades over their tables.

That was Charlie Berens, you should check out his YouTube stuff, he's really very funny.  He plays into the Wisconsin/upper Midwest tropes, like being super polite, hating people from Illinois (like me) and shopping for every occasion at Farm and Fleet.  However, he disappointed me here, he seemed really out of his element.  Maybe he was just there for the beer, although based on his videos I'd say he was more of a Leinenkugel's guy.

I love Charlie’s videos, too!  I wonder if they filmed more of him but edited it out?  I was hoping to see more of him, too.

The guy whose farm provided the hops for the competition had a Viewing Party at his brewpub.  My sister went to it; was also hoping they’d show more of him.  He’s near the teeny tiny town of Paoli, WI.

Way to royally fuck up in memoriam.  The camera was too far back at first making it impossible to see who the actor was on the screen.  Loose the dancers and singers!!!!

Simply.have the orchestral  play while the screen is filled with  the actor, possibly showing a scene of their work. Honor their memory.

And don’t we say this every year?????

    So aggravating!

  5. I didn’t like the In Memorium segment.  It was confusing and detracted from seeing the photos of those being remembered.  They could have done all the tribute performances separately, which would have been entertaining.  Then do the memorials in a more somber, respectful way.

    Google is your friend.

Sally's not middle-aged; she's 30ish, tops. Maybe she seems older because of the time she was on B&B before she moved over to Y&R. However, I think she's barely the same character anymore even if she does mention her Spectra relatives occasionally.

This is the Sally I remember!

I see that she died in 2007.  Current Sally is her grand-niece evidently.

  7. I posted this over on the Canadian thread, but it applies here, too!  Really enjoying your comments! 😁

“I just happened upon Y&R after many years away.  A few characters I recognize, many I don’t know, and a few ( Lauren?) who seem to have had a lot  face work done.  Victor and Nikki are still around!!!!!

I see Phyllis is up to her same old tricks.

I may keep watching just for your commentary here!”

The need for a dramedy category goes back to the 80s. Moonlighting was considered a drama because it was an hour show.  The Wonder Years was a comedy only because it was 30 minutes.  This is so stupid and short-sighted.

    Emmy questions that I have:

     - Where the heck was Christopher Storer on his show's big night?
     - Why were Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers standing so far apart from each other, quite awkwardly?

I wondered the same bout Rob and Sally.  It looks so strange.
