  1. I keep thinking that all the letters from the handmaids foreshadows the show becoming a spy underground procedural. Every week, a new handmaid gets saved! Haha, just joking... I think. But, yes, mixed feelings about the prospect of so many seasons. One season was kind of perfect. Also: I just realized that they aired a different edit than this still. I wonder how different the scene was originally?
  2. Quite a lot of questions were definitively answered by Elisabeth Moss in this article: http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/elisabeth-moss-the-handmaids-tale-finale-1202468602/
  3. I am pretty much expecting that, but I can't seem to guess what will happen to Nick. Also, I'd be surprised if Offred's escape is completely successful, because then how will the other characters fit into the story next season? I am a little nervous that something tragic will happen in the finale but, then again, would the producers really kill off any of their main characters and lose one of these great actors?
  4. Yeah, I actually enjoyed the last 2 episodes. Feels like we are at an odd place to stop. For example, are all the feuding couples getting back together over the course of the final 40 minutes? Do they plan to keep hanging threads in to entice a streaming service? It seems hard to imaging that some of these talented actors would be willing to keep doing this show. Thanks for that link. I like that she said that it had one of the best network pilots ever. I agree.
  5. Too bad, this is one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud regularly. I wonder if any streaming sites are interested. "But what if it isn't?" has been repeated today on other sites, but it is such a funny line and applies here.
  6. Hmm, I might have to agree with this. I loved the episode right before that. Rayna sang Pour Me Something Stronger, Sam got to do some acting, and Scarlett & Gunnar got together. Then again, I pretty much continued to enjoy the show after that without feeling much conflict - right up until the ridiculous Car Accident.
  7. I can't believe that for a brief time during season 1, this was my favorite network show! It is now one of the worst examples I know of where characters have frustratingly little consistency from week to week. For example, in no way do I believe that Deacon would allow a dumb fight like that to happen. That dreadful interview with Scarlett & Gunnar just felt like some writing room decision of "hey, I know how to kill a bunch of time in this episode- let's just rehash absolutely everything that has happened with these characters." Their storyline is feeling so repetitive, especially considering last week's awkward insertion of the great song "If I Didn't Know Better." Maybe the writers have been directed to pander to casual or new audience members? For the longtime viewer, it's extremely unsatisfying. Nashville, I wish I could quit you, but I enjoy the actors so much that I keep tuning in.
  8. Haha, thanks for sharing that clip! I had never heard of this actor before, but I may check out Spy. He is great in this series- The twin thing is fun to watch, and I found myself pulled in by wanting to know what happens to his characters.
  9. Yes, and I guess that the S1 pilot was a fake-out because that is what I thought it was going to be! I had a lot of fun watching this episode- I cheered for Will and got shivers during the Scarlett/Gunnar duet. The cliche writing on this show is so frustrating, but the cast keeps bringing me back. The leads are so charismatic - Hayden & Jonathan for their wonderfully soapy acting, Clare & Sam for their amazing singing, and Charles & Connie for, well, just being the fabulous Chip & Connie.
  10. One thing that I am glad to see is that this topic is bringing up the awkwardness of how "single-camera" type shows are filmed. I recently read up about the whole multi-camera vs single-camera setup (usually discussed with comedies). I was surprised to read that actors in single-camera are generally not even talking to each other and that they are filmed separately. Ever since reading about this, I have found many TV shows distracting because it is now often obvious to me that the actors aren't reacting to each other and it feels stilted. The scene with Kalinda & Alicia was a prime example of this. This ties in with how exhausting the actors have said shooting the Good Wife can be. In fact, isn't that why Josh Charles left? I am inclined to think that this "feud" is about working styles in the face of extremely long hours. (Isn't there a post somewhere about how Archie is meticulous, while Juliana prefers efficiency on set?)
  11. Me too - I was wondering if others felt this way. The Scarlett/Gunnar and Rayna/Deacon vocal duets are the best part this show and I am glad to see them finally return.
  12. This episode gave me the feels for the first time in quite a while on this show. The final scene was pretty heartbreaking. I didn't miss Juliette tonight! Hayden is a great actor (I am still annoyed that she hasn't received much recognition via awards for this show), but there are so many characters already that it is nice when they pare some of the storylines down. Also, I generally get more interested in the stories about the musician characters that are more obscure or up & coming as opposed the the lives of the big stars. One quibble that I have is how Nashville handles last minute concerts- the characters always decide the night before that they are going to do a big concert appearance the next day. Like no one ever seems to need to rehearse? I don't care how great Rayna & Deacon are supposed to be - if they sing a harmonized duet that they haven't done together in many years, I would think that they would need to practice a bit first. And Maddie & Daphne can get ready for their Opry debut in one day? There are many more examples, but this always takes me out of the show for a minute because I start thinking about it too much. Also, Scarlet's boring doctor boyfriend = Deacon's boring vet girlfriend.
  13. I have been wondering why Will Chase, who is an experienced music theater performer, sings country with such a weak (low & quiet) voice. I assume that it's a character choice or maybe just a mixing choice, but it makes it hard for me to believe that he would be a big star that way. Compare it to Chris Carmack's stronger style that comes across much better, in my opinion. While watching the show, I was pretty convinced that their "solution" was going to be to release Deacon from the tour and let him take care of Maddie. Also, right after they informed Maddie about the nanny, the show cut to Scarlett walking along. Hmmm.
  14. I'm with you. I never thought I'd say this, but I think Deacon deserves better at this point. I was up for defending Rayna's choices all through seasons 1-2, but this Wheels Up nonsense is reaching a repellent stage. On the other point- Juliette seeking advice from Rayna: I interpreted it as Juliette just needing to talk with someone who sympathizes. I am feeling like Juliette doesn't really need advice- she's going to keep the baby. She just needs to tell someone who might understand what she's going through to help deal with some of the stress. I am looking forward to next week to see the conversation between Juliette & Rayna.
  15. I loved this episode. This show is about musicians again! I was skeptical of the Patsy Cline storyline, but it's actually proving to be interesting because Hayden is such a fantastic actress that you can believe that the producers would pick her to play the part even though her voice is not similar to Patsy's. I agree. This seems like a mis-step on the showrunners part. It adds such a nice contrast when at least one partnership is working. I would enjoy watching drama that happens to them, but not always between them. My favorite scenes are when people are writing songs together. They could have one of the couples doing this every week and I would be happy. Did anyone catch the hilarious line about Avery being a love child of Johnny Depp and Johnny Cash? I laughed out loud at that one.
