  1. Yeah...compared to what I was hearing all over the 'Net, the episode was...anticlimactic. The only beloved character I saw "die" was...the Darksabre? And couldn't/shouldn't Bo-Katan build her own/rebuild it herself? It looked to me like the outside was broken, but did the kybercrystals survive? (BTW, I have not seen any of Rebels or Clone Wars so I don't know if making the Darksabre was a different process than the usual creation of a lightsabre.) If anyone thinks Moff Gideon is really dead they got another thing coming. Did we see a body? Would F&F get rid of a great character like that being played by a revered and beloved actor like Mr. Esposito? Unless he's asked for his character to be killed off not likely. And I'd love it if, when we see him again, he had half his face blown off. I realize that we're supposed to see in future episodes but still...I think Moff Gideon is still waiting in the wings ready to stir up more trouble. Way to go Din Grogu being his own awesome self! And we got to see Appa again! And all hail the return of IG-11! That's all for now.
  2. I can see the conversation now: Favreau: "Jack! Would you like to--" Jack Black: "YES!" Is Lizzo a SW fan? She and Jack Black did make the cutest couple. I don't trust Jack Black's character OR Christopher Lloyd's. I know this theory has a name but I can't remember it right off-hand...maybe someone can help me with it. I don't see anyone taking actors like C. Lloyd and J. Black and putting them in only one episode. Not even just because Black and Lloyd are SW fans. Besides, the whole C. Lloyd's character capitulating so quickly looked staged to me. But maybe I'm wrong. And having C. Lloyd's character be a droid all along would mirror "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (I realize the spoiler bar probably isn't necessary, but just in case....) All in all I'm enjoying this season. I understand ratings have dipped, but I really think it's because people are waiting for the whole season to drop so they can binge it.
  3. My thoughts on this episode: 1. All hail The Armorer, the New Mother of Dragons! 2. I thought one of the extra Mandos had a lot of red on his armor, so it crossed my mind that he might be the one who dies during the mission. 3. Poor Grogu having flashbacks while watching The Armorer...just like his daddy. His sad little face broke my heart. 4. Do we know the Jedi who rescued Grogu or is he a new character? He wasn't on the screen much, but I liked him. That's all for now.
  4. Hi! Read everyone's comments and appreciate all of them. Some of my own: 1. ITA that this show has become less and less of "Book of Boba Fett" and more "Star Wars: Tatooine" and yes, maybe that would've worked better as a title. But the way I see it, I'm on board and strapped in for the whole Favreau/Feloni-verse, so I really don't care what they call it. I'm also wondering exactly how much losing Gina Carano in the middle of planning all of this affected the flow of things. (Please, let's not go into the whys and wherefores...I'm just commenting on the end result.) 2. Having not watched Clone Wars or Rebels, I only had a passing familiarity with Cad Bane, but his reveal was still impressive. (I've heard some say he reminded them of Lee Van Cleef...I can totally see that.) Also, I love both the character Cobb Vanth and Timothy Olyphant (yummy!) so I hope it was only a flesh wound (sorry, couldn't leave it sitting there). 3. If the Jennifer Beals character is dead, what a waste! (BTW, does she ever age? Her and Ming-Na Wen, can I just look half that good when I'm that old? I realize TV and makeup, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.) 4. I realize I'm speaking Star Wars blasphemy, but the way things sit right now, IMO Luke is being a total dickwad. Din left the Beskar chain mail tunic as a gift and Luke is using it to be a manipulative bitch. (BTW, to whomever mentioned it above no, you aren't the only one who thought of Bilbo's/Frodo's mithril silver undershirt when you saw it. That was the first thing I thought of and after watching several reaction videos, most everyone else said so too. Wouldn't be surprised at all if that was an intentional homage by Favreau/Feloni.) 5. If Grogu has had, as some have speculated, 20 years of training in the ways of the Jedi, doesn't that mean he's had far and away more training than Luke? Maybe that's what was intended when Ahsoka said "sometimes the pupil guides the teacher" or something like that. Maybe it's Grogu who should be training Luke, not vice versa. Of course YMMV. 6. At this point, the only thing I'll say in Luke's defense is that when he did the Vulcan Mind Meld (tell me I'm not the only one who thought that) with Grogu, he had no idea he was going to stir up a memory that traumatic. But I'm sure the "sometimes I think he's remembering rather than me teaching" line was put in there for a purpose, I just can't think of what it might be. 7. I can't wait to find out who rescued Grogu from Order 66. I'm thinking it might have been Yoda and that Grogu is, indeed, his son. In which case, when Yoda tells Obi-Wan in ESB that Luke was "the last hope", then either he didn't remember Grogu (unlikely) or someone else rescued Grogu (Mace Windu perhaps?) and neither Yoda nor Obi-Wan were aware of it. Lots more to unpack, but I'll stop here. Thanks!
  5. So I found out one of my co-workers at another campus (we communicate via MS Teams) speaks French, so I suggested this show to her. She is watching it while she works & she's sending me little updates. It's hysterical!
  6. First of all, thanks for the info re: watching European shows on streaming services. Did you just watch the first episode or the first two/first storyline? It's kinda hard to know how to group them together since every storyline comprises two episodes. And yes, I even described the first 4 episodes/first 2 storylines as a little clunky. Frankly, But you can still get a 7-day free trial of MHZ if you want to try it again, binge & bail.
  7. Sorry...my bad. Hope you enjoy it! Looking forward to hearing y'all's thoughts & opinions!
  8. Not to sound snarky, but the information y'all were seeking is in the third-to-last paragraph of my entry. And I feel both of y'all on the premium subscription thing. If I hadn't already purged 5 subs I wasn't using I'd've binged & bailed, too, but I found a bunch of stuff on MHz that intrigued me, so I hung onto it & killed Showtime & Cinemax. And Season 5 is in post-production and will be released in France in December, so Lord knows when MHz will get it. (Season 5 will only be 2 ninety-minute episodes. I believe it was heavily truncated thanks to Covid.)
  9. Bonjour! Si vous plait, allow me give y'all a more informative synopsis of this series. Capt. Antoine Verlay is a rough-around-the-edges police officer in Paris. Good news: he's good at his job. Bad news: he's managed to piss off almost every superior officer in the force except one, the head of the Art Crimes Division, where he winds up. More bad news: he knows next to nothing about art. So instead of pairing him up with another cop, his new partner is an art historian. Florence Chassagne is an art historian working at The Louvre. She has followed in her father's footsteps, so art history and interpretation comes second nature and still has the power to thrill her. She's a little quirky (she rides a bike everywhere) but professional (she doesn't dress over-the-top boho). Most importantly, she's smart as a whip and, as the series progresses, she develops a knack for police work. Suffice it to say, both Antoine and Florence are in their mid-to-late 30s, attractive, and (at least newly so in his case) single. And they couldn't be any more different. And they start out by annoying the merde out of each other. He describes her as a "bookworm" & a "champion pain in the ass." She describes him as "an uneducated cowboy who thinks Botticelli is a brand of pasta." This ain't y'all's first rodeo...you know where this is headed. Mix in a great supporting cast, snappy dialogue, a heaping helping of daddy issues, and incomparable artwork (they film in both the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay) and you have a show that is, in my opinion, worthy of your time. There are currently four seasons (Seasons 1 & 2 have six approximately 1-hour episodes, Seasons 3 & 4 have four), so it's an easy weekend binge. Each storyline comprises 2 episodes and is based on the works of at least one famous artist. (They start us out easy with da Vinci.) All of them are available on MHz, which is a premium service you tack onto your Amazon Prime. It's rated TV-14. (Yes, the double standards surrounding nudes in paintings being art but no one can have sex is replete.) If you decide to give this show a chance, please go ahead and watch all of Season 1 before you make any decisions. The first 4 episodes are a little clunky (thankfully, they decided early to kill one of Florence's big idiosyncrasies) but by the last two the show has pretty much found its stride. If you like a good crime procedural with plenty of humor, wit, and building sexual tension (and you understand French or don't mind subtitles), then give this show a chance.
  10. I'm late to this party, but I must toss this in. Jeremy Northam is way hotter than Anthony Eden. He also played Thomas More in "The Tudors" and I had to go to Confession for drooling over a saint!
  11. I have read and appreciated everyone's opinions. I wanted to throw in a few of my own. 1. For what must be the first time in a long time, I have no complaints about anyone in the cast. Some performances I enjoyed more than others, but I thought all of them were spot on. 2. The character I loved to hate the most was Mr. Boleyn. As mentioned by someone else above, I felt a little bit sorry for Anne both when he celebrated her recovery from The Sweats with, "It will be just like before!" & later, when he left The Tower, saw Anne in the window, and turned his back to her. I haven't wanted to throw something at a TV that badly since Jax drugged Wendy. And I love the way Superman tried to knock some sense into him with, "Your son was beheaded yesterday. Your daughter will be tomorrow. And your big concern is 'I get to keep my earldom'?" 3. I am a big fan of Thomas More. How big? When I converted to Catholicism, I chose Thomas as my confirmation name...and I'm a girl. So before I started watching this, I had to know who was playing him first. When I saw it was Jeremy Northam, I was relieved. He did not disappoint. The two scenes that both tear (as in rip) and tear (as in make my eyes water) me up are when he offers his resignation as Chancellor and when his wife & daughter come visit him in The Tower. To me, the resignation scene has all the elements of a break-up-of-a-long-marriage scene: Henry being the one who wants out & Thomas being the one who badly wants to reconcile. The only difference being Henry is the one who cheated. With the visit of his family scene, the way he begs them not to abandon him because he would then feel all the more alone just shatters my heart into a million pieces. And the way he tries so desperately to comfort his wife when she admits she's just scared...😢 And yes, I cried during his execution scene. Henry could've stopped it; he was just being an ass. I gotta admit, the show jumps the shark for me after Season 2. Catherine's dead, More's dead, and Anne's finally out of the picture. Who cares about the rest of them? But I guess I should at least watch Cromwell's execution. (A brief wade into the shallow end...I should probably go to confession for all the times I caught myself lusting after a saint because he was being played by Jeremy Northam.)
  12. Yes, my mom said my niece is thrilled and can't wait! But I have both sisters and nibblings (the collective term for nieces and nephews) that are going to want one, so I'll be crocheting all summer. Not that I mind. (BTW, TPTB at Disney, you didn't see this message at all and if you did, I'm giving them away, not selling them. I wouldn't want to rain down the Wrath of the Mouse House upon me.) And yes, I'm wondering if, now that they are a Clan of Two, if this means Din can now remove his helmet in front of The Child. You'd think so, but.... <shrug>
  13. Why thank you! I appreciate that! I don't know about y'all, but fandom for this show has officially reached 3 generations of my family. My mother, who is walking IMDB on all TV/Movie Westerns, is savoring every episode. She was watching the first two episodes while she was babysitting my 5-year-old niece. My niece told her, "Grandma, I've already watched all of these with my daddy. Baby Yoda is so cute!" (Then my mother let the cat out of the bag and told her I'd started crocheting Baby Yodas...thanks Mom, that's supposed to be her birthday present.) And remember, we may see Din Djarin's face more often even if the other characters don't, which would be great because Pedro Pascal is a snacky snack.
  14. Okay...my bad. I must have missed something. I'll have to go back and watch it again. Oh darn! As for The Armorer:
  15. First things first, this show is my new obsession. The only thing that will keep me from going nuts before October will be 1. I'm crocheting Baby Yodas and 2. What We Do In the Shadows 2nd Season starts 4/15. (Apparently I have a thing for Taika Watiti.) As for the show, some random musings, in no particular order: 1. I don't think they would bother to cast a high-caliber actor like P. Pascal unless they intended to show his face a little more often. A couple of stunt men and a cheaper voice-over actor would work just as well if that was the case. 2. I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I don't trust The Armorer/Blacksmith. Mando trusts no one, but trusts her implicitly. That doesn't sit well with me. For example, she told everyone that the other Mandos were dead. Well, did they really die in that battle in Ep. 3 or did she kill them all later? If they had all died in that battle, how come Apollo Greef didn't seem to know anything about it? You'd've thought word would have gotten to him by then. 3. I am convinced that we will see Fennic again. Again, she's too big/good an actress to waste on one episode. (But then, look what they did to Mark Boone, Jr. SOA treated him better.) 4. Step aside Miss Omera, I'm shipping Mando and Cara hard. (I believe the official name of the ship is Caralorian.) I need this to happen; it will help soothe my post-TROS wounded feelings. 5. Very few people can exude menace like Giancarlo Esposito...and I didn't even watch Breaking Bad. I would like to know how he came to possess the Darksabre. Is he a wayward Mando or did he steal it in the Great Purge? Either way, his end needs to be slow, epic, and at Mando's hands. That's all for now--may edit to add more later. Oh, and Baby Yoda melts my cold, middle-aged heart every time I see him. ETA: This, which I'm putting in Spoilers cover in case someone hasn't seen TROS yet:
