  1. I don't get it...we've had a lot of ex-Bachelor/Bachelorette stars on the show before and while they'll always at least make it half-way through the competition I feel like that fanbase has never had this much control before. Especially when you consider how low Joe's scores have been (maybe the lowest among the Bachelor stars) and he's STILL here. Is it just that he's more well-liked among the fanbase than any other past star that has done the show? Or is the regular DWTS fanbase just tuned out and not voting this season?
  2. I'm trying to remember if they've ever had a model on the show other than Val's very first partner (whose name escapes me at the moment). I don't think they normally go for models because they usually have insane schedules if they are semi-well known and can come off as un-relatable to the general audience I think. We'll see though (assuming it's true).
  3. Eh, I remember Giles being fairly unlikable all on his own during All-Stars. Now it's true he didn't come off that way during his original season, but I think maybe almost winning and then being among other great celeb dancers made him a little fanatical. To be honest, I can't remember that many of Peta and Giles' actual dances...just that I really wasn't a fan of his personality the second time around.
  4. I thought I saw something about the producers asked Mel to do it but she couldn't because of a conflict??? I can't really remember for sure now. I actually think she even tweeted at Maks when they announced the All-Star season to get ready or something along those lines. I think with a lot of DWTS partnerships it just naturally fizzled out. Their season was over 10 years ago at this point. People just get busy with their own lives. I'm sure they are fine with another...they just don't make the time/effort to see one another.
  5. Part of me actually thinks Jenna might be the one to end it this time. Maybe this new attention/fame will go to her head and make her realize there is more out there for her. Like a lot of younger women in Hollywood who get into relationships with older men in the biz and idolize them, I could see her wanting to test the waters more. Keep in mind, she's only like 23 or 24. Another part of me thinks they will go through a farce of an engagement since everyone else connected to DWTS is getting married right now.
  6. I watched part of the first episode of this "season" and tuned out for the rest. It was actually nice to have a break from the drama and anxiety that can surround DWTS during a regular season. Who has a ringer, who is getting screwed over, fans arguing online, pros being shady, etc. Next season I may just try and stay completely offline and watch the show for what it is and just enjoy it. Part of the reason I didn't watch this season was because I am not a fan of Jenna's. Like, AT ALL. I know there is a lot of talk about her right now and I do think she's a polarizing pro. I will give her credit for having potential as a choreographer and putting in her dues but I think I would have more respect for her if she didn't center her world around Val and actually tried to build her own identity. Since she showed up in S18 she's pretty much been following him around begging for attention. I thought she finally broke the habit when he was dating Amber and she started her blog (and talked about their unhealthy relationship and how it made her feel bad about herself) but she started dating him again about a week after he broke up with Amber. Part of me does feel bad for her because I think she's a fairly insecure person at heart but she isn't doing much to break her bad habits. I know this shouldn't effect my opinions of her as a pro/dancer, but, let's face it, the pros are the real celebs of the show.
  7. Do we know if they'll start doing two dances a night in say week 3 and 4? I'm just hoping there is some way we see more dances from the celebs. Now that I've seen the celebs dance, I think the all athlete idea is really great and I'm surprised they haven't thought of it sooner, but it just bums me out we only have these celebs for four weeks. Imagine the journey of someone like Chris who has no rhythmic background at all or Jennie who seems very invested and stepping out of her comfort zone? These celebs understand body movement if nothing else and I just think it would be great to see a full season with them. I actually really hope someone other than Mirai and Adam win if I'm being honest...
  8. One more time because it can't be said enough....THE.WINNER.IS.NOT.THE.BEST.DANCER. This show is about who the is able to combine dance skill with likability. Just because Normani was the best dancer this season doesn't mean she should have automatically won. She didn't get the votes, plain and simple. People can be upset Normani didn't win but please don't pretend that was she robbed.
  9. I think a lot of fans then -- and still now -- vote based on the freestyle. Especially if its a final were there are multiple celebs who are good dancers. I think Zendaya and Kelly were both good dancers, likable, and had popular pros so a lot of people that season went off the freestyle and Val blew Z's freestyle and Derek gave Kelly a great one. I personally think Zendaya was ten times the performer/dancer as Kelly but I don't think her win was unworthy (though the technical issue with voting that year still bothers me). Same goes for Mel B; Maks bombed on her freestyle and while Helio's won't go down in history it was fun and him and enjoyable to watch. So yes, I do think it depends on who is participating, but I do still think the freestyle is the determining factor for a lot of fans.
  10. I never understand when fans say someone was "robbed" after an elimination. If their was a technical issue with voting or the judges completely screwed them with scores by gives 2s then yes, I think a star is robbed. This show has been on for 10+ years and people still don't seem to realize that being a good dancer does not mean you automatically stick around. She didn't get the votes, plain and simple. As someone else mentioned, she had at least 4 points on Bonner and I think 5 on David from the previous week -- she should be able to cover that spread.
  11. I always just accept that TV Theme Night creates some odd dances as they need to work with whatever the theme song is. I do think almost everyone improved though from last week which is good. I do feel like a bit of a kill joy as no celeb is really grabbing me. I did like James, Calvin, Babyface, and Vanilla Ice is surprising me. Am I bad person for not jumping up and down about Laurie? She's definitely the most skilled dancer and she looks good out there (and I think it's almost a guarantee she's winning) but I just think the gymnast storyline is a bit outplayed on the show. The rest of the season feels fairly predictable to me but I'm hoping I get more into it as the weeks go on. I think either Jake or Maureen will go tonight. I thought Maureen improved SO much from last week so I hope she sticks it out a little bit longer.
  12. I ended up liking last night's episode a lot more than I thought I would. Really loved Andy's dance -- Jazz/Contemp are why Allison is on this show. She struggles with the ballroom obviously but she's incredible when in her speciality. Might buy him another week or so. Bindi was another top performance for me tonight. Loved her rehearsal package with Derek. You can just see how at ease he is this season and how much fun he's having. This was probably my favorite Nick routine of the season so not sure what CAI is talking about! I thought he did great and really pulled off the Travolta-esque dance moves. I'm the odd man out though as I really didn't think Tamar's performance was anything mindblowing. She did well with it and I don't really disagree with the score when you consider the other perfect scores for the night, but it was just "eh" for me. I don't feel the need to rewatch it for example.
  13. I honestly have no idea who is going home tonight. I'm actually a little worried about Noah has he had an only okay night. I also wonder if the audience might be growing tired of him. I would prefer Chris going home over Robert but I need at least one of them to go home. I think both Riker and Rumer were overscored. I'm a huge Riker fan but not sure his VW deserved a 39, that being said, I thought he did deserve a 40 on his Jazz so I guess it evens out. I just can't get excited about Rumer (shrugs). I recognize she's a great dancer but it just doens't feel genuine to me. I also think Val is overdoing it and it all just feels forced. She had a good Rumba (though I didn't see much Rumba) but thought she wasn't nearly as fierce as she had to be in the Paso. She seemed tense throughout it.
  14. This week felt like a bit of a let down compared to last. No one really stood out to me. I guess I liked Riker the most but didn't think the 10s were deserved. I am worried he's a goner next week though. Or at the very least doens't make the finals. BUT I thought both team dances were great! Clean, full of energy, flashy... I think saying "Bootylicious" was a difficult song to do a Jazz routine to is a cop out. There have been many many songs/dances over the seasons that didn't fit together and the pro just has to suck it up and figure it out. There were many ways they could have performed a Jazz routine without making it raunchy. At the end of the day, I just didn't think it was a good routine. The choreography was juvenile for Rumer and her movement quality wasn't that strong. She's a great dancer but she just doesn't do anything for me. I feel like I haven't seen anything new from her since week 1. No idea who will go home next week. I guess Robert but not sure about the 2nd person.
  15. Gotta love Disney night! So many incredible and creative productions. As far as theatrical piece I thought Mark did a really incredible job. I understand what the judges were saying about Willow's technique but Mark is just so damn creative. Didn't really feel Rumer's dance…didn't feel like a Samba at all and I actually think I saw her out of synch once or twice. Dance of the night Julianne? Nope sorry.
