  1. If they keep going in this direction, there will eventually be a scene where he grabs her, pushes his lips against hers while she struggles, then she melts into his arms and kisses him back. I hate when shows do that.
  2. That scene bugged me more that it should. I actually re-winded it to make sure that it really didn't make sense and that it didn't just seem that way because I misunderstood something. It didn't make sense. Dan makes everyone move because Harris bumped Jackie and some veggies landed in Dan's plate, but Harris and Jackie are both right-handed. Dan was the only one who is left-handed (Not sure about Darlene). Then once they move, no one moves back but everything is fine - no more bumping. Gah! Okay, I will try to let this go... It is annoying how the writers will spontaneously give a character a completely different personality. Maybe DJ's wife joined them? Perhaps they are going to hang out with Jackie's son while they are wherever they are.
  3. I wonder if we will ever find out how much the remodel cost the Butlers. Tina said the insurance covered most of it. But that is what people say when they don't want their spouse to know how much they spent. In the real California, you buy Earthquake insurance through California Earthquake Authority and the deductible ranges from 5-25% (most people choose a 10-20% deductible). Plus, insurance doesn't pay for upgrades, only to replace what was damaged. However, if the insurance estimated how much everything would cost, subtracted the deductible, then wrote them a check, then they would likely have some extra to spend since they didn't have to pay anything to stay with their sons. Coverage for "loss of use" ranges from $1,500 to $100,000 depending on the policy chosen. This closes my insurance lesson for today. Tomorrow's topic will be "Life Insurance: How To Get the Most from Your Policy By Dying Young" (just kidding, I won't bore you more than I already have).
  4. If the hats sell, they will only be a fad. They came out saying something about being part of some big sporting event (I don't remember which one) which made it sound like they had sold them at that event, but it turns out that they just brought a bunch of hats in a garbage bag to the event. I get the feeling they only started this company so they could write-off tickets to games as promotion. Yes he does point that out quite often, yet he invested in bras for women who need a very large cup and no mention of how it wouldn't appeal to a wide market. That segment was just odd, and not just because he didn't talk about the size of the market and he doesn't usually invest in clothing. The bra lady didn't try to get an offer from anyone else. She seemed to really believe that the best/only shark for her was the man who doesn't usually invest in clothing.
  5. And Cauliflower is better roasted with a little olive oil and garlic.
  6. There is a third choice - Drew comes back with his new girlfriend/wife and they drag out this game of "will they or won't they" with two people who have no chemistry. It isn't a better choice. I am rooting for oblivion. What I wish could root for, but has no chance of happening, is that Drew stays in Alaska and Gina ends up selling Valley Hills and she and Norma take a road trip in the van. They could stop at various towns and improve the lives of strangers. Maybe hit a karaoke bar once in a while so Gina could sing. I'd be okay with them stopping in Alaska for closure, but no more than one episode there. This could become the show where every season has a different premise.
  7. Chuck Lorre is one of the producers so CBS is more likely to renew it than a non-Chuck-Lorre show.
  8. I think you are right, that she is supposed around 11-13. The actress who plays her turned 16 last October.
  9. Not just comedies. It was on an episode of The Resident not too long ago. Sneaker culture has been around a while. Makes me wonder if there was some news story I missed that made all these writers decide to make it a storyline. What really bugged me was when the woman in front of Kat acted like Kat took cuts. It wouldn't affect that woman's place in line.
  10. This one seemed to be the longest one yet. Eventually, there will be a short opening scene, a short closing scene, and 18 minutes of the show's theme song. He isn't much of a counselor if he hasn't figured out that he might only think he is love with Gina because she saved his life.
  11. Last season I said that the show is becoming a re-hash of the original, with Darlene as the new Roseanne, Becky as the new Jackie, etc.. After seeing Darlene at the theater, I thought - I guess Darlene is the new (wacky) Jackie now I turned to me husband and said, "I bet the writers were thinking that viewers will be rooting for Ben and Darlene to get back together and they will tease us that they are split up for good. But, in reality, the viewers are probably happy that the relationship is finally over." I do think that the plan is for them to get back together, unfortunately. Darlene seems to have forgotten that she cheated on Ben twice (the second guy was supposedly a platonic relationship, but it was at least emotional cheating). And then there was Roseanne's addiction to pain killers. I guess the writers think substance abuse is hilarious.
  12. The Hiccaway people need to come up with some sort of disposable cover so that schools can have one in the office - then that one kid with hiccups doesn't distract the whole class. Ring guy was likable, but I think he was milking his sob story - My dad almost died, then my mom had cancer, and I decided right then and there that I would take care of them for the rest of their lives so I stole my sister's camera and traveled around the world. Then again, maybe taking pictures while you are thousands of miles away from your parents is how you take care of them.
  13. I forgot about Kripke, but I remembered his as the Dad, Jimmy DiMeo, on Speechless.
  14. I don't remember the details, but I thought Norma had basically cut off her daughter, so it seemed strange that Norma would take that view.
  15. When Nick talked to Darlene privately in the diner, I hoped he was going to tell her that she is acting like a b!tch. Then, either dump her or tell her she needs to think about her actions and the role she played in the breakup as part of her "spiritual growth." Then maybe Darlene could eventually be less annoying. But, no, they had to go with the "Ben and Darlene are still in love" trope. Meanwhile Jackie can hire two masseuses, so she must be doing well. Oh wait, she still has to do her laundry at the Conners, so I guess not. I keep watching because the show is getting bad enough that it will be fun to come on to this forum and make fun of how bad it is. Except Dan burned the bedroom furniture last episode. What has he been sleeping on? And last episode, Dan said that since she used up her money on the wedding, he should pay for the bedroom set.
  16. I thought it was strange that so many didn't know what a bobby is, but I think the prize for biggest "derp!" moment was the two guys who spent an extra 30 minutes looking for the clue after they already found the clue, because they decided it was too easy to find the clue and didn't trust the other guy who told them it was the clue.
  17. The last thing I remember about that character was that he and his husband adopted a little girl who spoke little English and had some sort of medical condition (heart?). I don't remember why he left the hospital. Three years seems like a really long paternity leave ;-)
  18. Then there was the time that Bell's stepson was a doctor at Chastain too.
  19. I am guessing that, in addition to be the only surgeon left in the main cast, they realized that they don't have a lot use for a neurosurgeon, given that we rarely saw Kit's surgical skills being an integral part of a storyline.
  20. Anyone remember where this show is supposed to be located? If it isn't in Iowa, New Jersey, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, or Maryland, Gina wouldn't have to pay tax on the money she inherited. They are the only states that charge an inheritance tax. The federal government does not tax an inheritance. An estate of that value would have had to play Estate Tax (on the federal level and maybe also at the state level), but that would happen before any money was handed to Gina (which would not have happened so soon after he died). Furthermore, the highest inheritance tax rate is 18% (Nebraska), so she wouldn't lose half the money to taxes. With all the money Chuck Lorre has, I would think he could afford to have a quick conversation with an estate lawyer. I get the feeling that they planned to have Gina win the lottery (in which case the taxes and the timing would make a lot more sense (also the taxes would be taken out before thy gave her the check), but, for whatever reason, decided to go with inheritance instead, but didn't want to bother re-writing anything. That was another thing that irked me this episode - He was so in love with her that he was planning to go to Europe (Switzerland?) to have his transplant so they could be together. And now it is like she never existed. I am hoping that he eventually talks to her and realizes that his feelings for Gina are just misplaced gratitude. Too bad he didn't decide to go and the show could be about Gina, her work, and the dialysis group, with no Drew. . (Note: I have only watched half the episode).
  21. I thought the stand-in looked pretty good, but I am surprised that she didn't have some cuts and bruises, maybe some swelling. It would have helped hide the fact that it wasn't EVC, and it would have made more sense. I would think that it is pretty rare to have enough brain trauma to die, yet have no external injuries. I was hoping they would have her decide to stay home with the baby, then the show centers around the hospital and not Conrad's home life. Added bonus - we avoid the baby storylines, since adding a baby is rarely a good thing for a tv show.
  22. I recall a lot of scenes with Conrad and Nic making out in the hospital in earlier seasons. And it was a blind patient too. And it looks like she will go to live with her father's brother - they better check his heart and maybe fit him with a pacemaker before he and the girl go home.
  23. It has been weeks since the show aired, so I decided to look at the "Super Potty Trainer" reviews on Amazon and it wasn't there. There were many potty seats that go on top of the regular seat that have a back to them, which would be much ore practical than having to lift up and down the toilet seat and then have to get the Super Potty back in the right spot. I wish one of the sharks would have brought up how cumbersome that potty was, but I suppose they can all afford designated potty training bathrooms that no one but toddlers use. I also wish they would have asked the potty people jsut how their seat makes the potty training process any faster. The seat doesn't teach kids to understand when they need to go.
  24. Daniel Dae Kim's character had a rushed introduction last season because the season was cut short due to the pandemic. Then he barely appeared on this season. What was the point of having him on the show at all? And what was the point of having Sharpe's niece come to America? Seems like the only reason to add that character (who only lasted a few episodes and didn't have any major stories) was to have Sharpe have a (ridiculous) reason to break up with Daniel Dae Kim's character, who also had no reason to be there (and who also only lasted a few episodes and didn't have any major stories). Neither character caused any sort of change/growth/revelation in Sharpe. Max was tolerable those last 5 minutes, but I thought it was because he wasn't talking. After the ring was found, I expected some sort of explanation of how it ended up in his lab coat - like maybe he removed it while he was leaving Helen the flirty voicemail. Instead, he starts talking about how taking it off what some sort of message he was sending himself and seemed about to have an epiphany, then the ring is found and Max completely drops that idea. Maybe they will explain everything next season, but they are asking a lot of their viewers if they expect us to remember these details when they can't even seem to remember Daniel Dae Kim was part of their cast.
  25. I like the episode and am glad that Art stuck up for Al and no one in the family held it against Al for losing the job. I also appreciate that the house that Al's sister was in looked like a regular house and wasn't some dark, concrete hovel like homes in Afghanistan usually look like on TV.
