  1. I clarified the street rhythms several pages back during the team competition but the rhythm choices included “hip hop, jazz, reggae, reggaeton, blues, funk, swing, krump, popping, or disco.” The midnight blues pattern itself needed to be to music that was 86-90 bpm so it needed to be slower.
  2. From WADA’s official statement: “WADA is therefore disappointed by today’s ruling of the CAS Ad Hoc Division. While WADA has not received the reasoned award, it appears that the CAS panel decided not to apply the terms of the Code, which does not allow for specific exceptions to be made in relation to mandatory provisional suspensions for 'protected persons', including minors. Concerning the analysis of the athlete's sample, WADA always expects Anti-Doping Organizations to liaise with the laboratories in order to ensure they expedite the analysis of samples so that the results are received prior to athletes traveling to or competing in a major event, such as the Olympic or Paralympic Games and, where applicable, conduct results management of the cases related to such athletes. According to information received by WADA, the sample in this case was not flagged by RUSADA as being a priority sample when it was received by the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm, Sweden. This meant the laboratory did not know to fast-track the analysis of this sample. As previously announced, under the terms of the Code, when a minor is involved in an anti-doping case, there is a requirement to investigate that athlete’s support personnel. RUSADA has already indicated it has begun that process. In addition, WADA’s independent Intelligence and Investigations Department will look into it.”
  3. Christine has since reported that the US is pushing heavily to have a medal ceremony in the next couple of days just getting the silver so the athletes can at least have their moment.
  4. Officially, no team medal ceremony at all. If Valieva is on the podium, no medial ceremony for the ladies event either. So heartbreaking for the US and Japanese teams who earned their medals and won’t get their moment and the Canadians who would likely move up. Swedish lab is testing sample B. Russia can’t because they lost their accreditation.
  5. From the official document: 1) It has affirmed the jurisdiction of the CAS Ad Hoc Division in this matter and has overruled the preliminary objections raised by the Athlete and the ROC in this regard; Tribunal Arbitral du Sport Court of Arbitration for Sport 2) On the basis of the very limited facts of this case, and after consideration of the relevant legal issues, it has determined that no provisional suspension should be imposed on the Athlete due to the following exceptional circumstances: a) The Athlete is a “Protected Person” under the World Anti-Doping Code (WADC); b) The RUSADA Anti-Doping Rules and the WADC are silent with respect to provisional suspension imposed on protected persons, while these rules have specific provisions for different standards of evidence and for lower sanctions in the case of protected persons; c) The Panel considered fundamental principles of fairness, proportionality, irreparable harm, and the relative balance of interests as between the Applicants and the Athlete, who did not test positive during the Olympic Games in Beijing and is still subject to a disciplinary procedure on the merits following the positive anti-doping test undertaken in December 2021; in particular, the Panel considered that preventing the Athlete from competing at the Olympic Games would cause her irreparable harm in these circumstances; d) The CAS Panel also emphasized that there were serious issues of untimely notification of the results of the Athlete’s anti-doping test that was performed in December 2021 which impinged upon the Athlete’s ability to establish certain legal requirements for her benefit, while such late notification was not her fault, in the middle of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. 3) In conclusion, the Panel determined that permitting the provisional suspension to remain lifted was appropriate.
  6. Disgusted. No reason given as to why the ban lift was upheld just that the petitions from ISU and IOC were dismissed.
  7. Maybe not S/K since they didn’t even make the Olympic team but this has definitely been the three main teams the last quad with C/B always threatening but never able to get there. I, too, hope the next quad will be more exciting and I think it will be.
  8. I never cared for P/C free dance but I’m glad they won.
  9. The announcement about Kamila decision will be at 2pm local time in Beijing. 1am ET, so about an hour or so after the conclusion of the free dance.
  10. Just clarifying the switch was made for the rhythm dance not free dance. They switched from Sade to Billie Eilish about a month before the first competition.
  11. It’s always been my understanding that pairing Madi & Evan together was Marina Zoueva’s idea. She coached both teams and thought they would be a better match. Partner switching/changing isn’t that uncommon especially in the Soviet system where Marina originated and even when partnerships have been successful. Just look at some of the top teams here, V/K partnered after he split with Ilinyk. H/D partnered after Hubbell stopped skating with her brother. FB/S, S/D, G/P to name a few more. Some people never find the right partner.
  12. There’s a good chance (I might even say highly likely) that P/C and S/K skip worlds so we could get an American showdown for gold at worlds next month. Hopefully, Madi & Evan can bring their best and ride off into the sunset.
  13. I’ve heard they said on their podcast they plan to continue. I’m sure not for another quad, though. Maybe like Bourne/Kratz, Dubreil/Lauzon, Delobel/Shoenfelder, Weaver/Poje, or Denkova/Staviski. They all stuck around for 1-2 years after Olympics and won some competitions and then retired.
  14. No, he got a level 4, Madi got a level 3, she messed up
  15. I think they’ll sit in 4th. They need to skate lights out again. I think they can overtake S/K again in the free. They’re not making up four points. Unless Madi & Zach mess up they’re done.
  16. No…was hoping for a replica of nationals but not to be.
  17. Laurence’s body in that dress…I mean come on 🔥
  18. Japanese team won’t make the free dance, at least they got to participate in the team event. But had they sent Kana & Daisuke they definitely would’ve made the free dance (and gotten Japan a silver which could’ve become gold with all this mess). I know you can’t always compare scores across international competitions but Green/Parsons got a 80.62 in their rhythm dance at Four Continents (compare to H/B 74.58). G/P are actually only one of eight dance teams to score over 200 points this season.
  19. I still don’t think going for the quad axel was a good idea. I will die on that hill.
  20. 5’11” but he always looks like he’s 6’2”
  21. Fine skate by Jason but I can’t say that I’m excited by it.
