  1. 1) People use work email for personal things. That's part of Hillary Clinton's problem right now -- allegedly, nobody knew how to set her up with a State Department email AND a personal email. 2) I'm surprised at how many politicians don't get the pay cut that they'll receive if elected. Utah's last 2 AGs are facing a criminal trial involving many things, but the root of part of it was making money on a "side business" to supplement their government pay. Senator mike Lee had to short-sell his house (to a friend who then rents it back to him -- nothing fishy there) because he just can't live on a Senator's salary. 3) It's quite natural for a politician's bodyperson (Marissa's job during the election) to become some sort of executive assistant, especially in the time between election day and the swearing in.
  2. -Does the Governor of Illinois have a huge security team like the President does? I know that my Governor's motorcade is one SUV -- the one he's in. A couple of security guys in the vehicle with him, and a couple of uniformed officers at the venue when he arrived. The only time they use the lights/siren is in an emergency. -I've seen so many people that have firm beliefs on "big" political topics like abortion whose argument comes down to nothing better than "Well, it's legal, OK!" -The Florrick Victory Party would not have been at campaign HQ, especially if it was a campaign as monumentally huge as they made this race out to be. You have that type of thing at a hotel ballroom so that the top campaign people can hole up in HQ all day without dodging party people. I've worked on several campaigns where we transformed a couple of hotel rooms into campaign HQ on election day.
  3. 1) My Grandma still obsesses about things she sees on the Nightly News. 2) I remember seeing some "dirty" movie at a friend's house at a sleepover when I was 11. The movie? Parenthood (yes, with Steve Martin). 3) My mom got me a subscription to SI for my 15th birthday. First issue I got was the 1994 Swimsuit Issue. That was harder than anything I had been exposed to. 4) My sexual harassment training at work last month went about as well as the mom's training did. Painfully funny.
  4. I've worked/volunteered in several campaigns over the years. I've been in Johnny's shoes before -- when the campaign consultant that brought me in has to try to protect another client's best interests against my candidate's best interests. It's difficult enough, without the added twist that the two candidates are married. Oh, and I would love to hire Eli's daughter to work on one of my campaigns. Sees through the politics BS while also standing up for the personal interests of the candidate. It's exactly what you need in a bodyperson. Overall, I find the campaign scenes a little too real.
