  1. As usual when there's anything on about our veterans I am a complete blubbering mess!! I visited Juno Beach centre exactly 1 year prior to filming, the statue of the soldiers emerging from the waves where the soldier received the poppy is so evocative and I walked down on the beach taking the same route as the racers with the same solemnity and gravitas befitting the site. We had also visited the Menin gate and the magnificent Vimy Ridge as well as the World War I cemetery Tyne Cott which unfortunately dwarves that at Beny-sur-mer. It is truly a worthwhile trip if you are remotely interested in history and the ability to pay your respects for those who died to allow us to enjoy our freedom today is immeasurable. Just bring loads of tissues! Thanks veterans and Amazing Race Canada.
