  1. Y’all. This episode. I can see why they saved this part of the story for almost last. They’ve taken seven episodes to ease into this fucked up part of the “curriculum” because if they had started with this I’d really just think Mark and Sarah (et. al.) were idiots. That they bought this bullshit shows me how much they had drunk the Kool-Aid at that point. Like how Scientology doesn’t start with Xenu and thetans, you have to get psychobabbled to death first. What a LOAD of MISOGYNISTIC BULLSHIT. Jesus.
  2. “I won’t take less than 1.5k” Currently unsold and listed at 1.425. After a year. 🤣
  3. Steven was barefoot in a hospital. Barefoot. In a hospital. I’m not sure why that seems worse than being barefoot in all the other places. I hate them so much it’s not even fun anymore. There’s nothing redeeming about them.
  4. Silky read the word “colonel” so she could read it—she didn’t know how to pronounce it. That’s not an eyesight thing. That’s an ignorance thing.
  5. Those dogs looked related to each other. What do you want to bet that they’re not spayed/neutered? Jeanne is just a nasty person. I’m trying to think of her as I would a drug addict deep into addiction but it’s so hard when she’s so unsympathetic (like a drug addict).
  6. If I was a neighbor I absolutely would not have helped. It would have been better for everyone involved—especially the dogs!—if the city had razed the whole fucking thing and put those nasty old selfish assholes away somewhere. The daughter never had a chance. I feel sorry for her. The dogs, though. Damn, that broke my heart that they got them back. Even if it was clean in that house (and it damn well wouldn’t be) there is NO way those two could or would keep those dogs walked, vetted and groomed. GRRRRRRRR.
  7. The episode last night made me crazy. I’m glad someone else pointed out that that expensive-ass door surround would be ruined in no time. There was no way that thing would survive without heavy protection. And the ornate door door surround and fancy doorknobs with the boxy style of the new house…?! Dude. She obviously views herself as an artist and isn’t interested in actually making money OR making a house that someone else would love. The client (who was offering full price!!!!) dared to question AV’s aesthetic or have an opinion of her own was just treated like shit. If you’re in the business to make money redoing houses that’s not how you do that. If you’re trying to do a design show disguised as a flipping business then that makes sense. When is Restored coming back to DIY? I need a show where “saving historical elements” isn’t complete and utter bullshit.
  8. The front of the 1700 house is hideous. None of the windows go together and that offset door is bizarre. It looks like a face that’s been punched.
  9. One reason the $220K house was so cheap was that it was in Conyers. That’s not even metro Atlanta anymore. That’s waaaay out.
  10. To be fair about the apartment, she said “subsidized housing.” I had a friend who was post-grad at Columbia and rented a HUGE apartment owned by the school at way below market rates. So, as a working TA I can see that as a not-too-out-there bit of plot.
  11. I like the audiobooks as well. I didn’t remember the boy either, so between the two of us I think we can agree he’s an add. :) I think that another reason the kid was added was to give Joe another murder with the evil stepdad. Here’s my prediction: evil stepdad dead by midseason.
  12. Someone should start a group home for all these morbidly obese people. It could have a strict schedule of life skills, nutrition classes and cooking, and group and private therapy. Similar model as rehabs, with graduation to halfway houses as skill and weight improves. And why does no one ever mention OA?!?
