I have never thought of Paul Wesley looking like Jim Carey, ever. lol I don't know who the other guy is, so I can't comment on that. PW is a good actor though and I don't mind him as Kirk. I never really cared about or even liked Kirk all that much, so I'm not holding him to any kind of "bar" that might be there for others.
I have been told that not liking Kirk means I'm not a real Trek fan, and I definitely disagree. I liked all of the other TOS cast. Trek is not about one person. Not even Spock, even if he is the universe's special snowflake.

If Franco wasn't killed and Liz had this breakdown story, she would have been just as missing for months while Franco would have been shown trying to manage raising the boys by himself, helping Cam regarding Joss, Trina and Spencer, and maybe going undercover at the company that supplied Liz with sleeping aid that made her all wacky.
And except for that last bit of hijinks, I would have enjoyed watching that more than whatever the hell is going on now. But I liked Franco and I don't really care about Finn.

Let me be clear, I didn't say Finn's behavior was ok, I said it was typical of him. He has, and has always had, serious boundary issues.

I think that's just how Finn is in a relationship. Like, with Hayden and with Anna he was all the hell in.

See, this is why you don't ship kids off to boarding school "for their safety". A) they turn into Spencer or B) They get kidnapped where you aren't there to respond quickly/prevent it.

Yeah, except I think that older Pike implied (when he should have just outright said so) that he was himself visited from the future, and he changed something, but it didn't work. Like it hadn't worked before, and probably there were several iterations of it before this Pike got the "just don't" message. He also said the monks were 'bout ready to come beat his ass to make him stop.
Frankly I think that the timeline is fixed, and that this visitation is part of that fixedness.

I like this show. I like this episode. I like the casting for Kirk.
I am annoyed by the general idea that Pike was ever realistically going to change his future, when the whole thing with seeing it in the first place was that there was no changing it. That was part of the deal. I don't get why Chris seems to be blanking on that part of it.

The whole "oh, my dad died at this age so I'm obviously going to die that age too" reasoning is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard in my life.
I get idolizing your dad and not being able to see yourself exceeding him in any way. I know a few people who were quite shocked to outlive their dads for various reasons. But Anthony's absolute devotion to the idea made him seem so ridiculous that I didn't like him as much as I could have. I'm very happy they left that out.

I don't think it was changed exactly, just added to. Ms. was just Miss, so not married, but at some point Ms. came to be also Miz, which is more ambiguous. I wanna say maybe the 60's, maybe 70's? My brain wants to put the distinction with the rise of feminism and women not wanting to be defined by their marital status. I also don't know if that's just an American thing or not.
It's been around longer than me, that's all I know.

Aisha's death, what I expected, how Kamala interacted with the past, not what I expected. Mom finding out, not expected!! Bruno and Kamran not AT ALL expected!!
I hope poor Kamran can find comfort in the fact that his mom, obsessed as she was with getting home, sacrificed herself to keep him safe in the end.

I imagine that the rapid breeding and fight to the death thing is why they have nursery planets. Drop off some eggs and food, come back a set time later and scoop up the survivors. Send them to Gorn High and repeat. You get only the strongest and smartest mofos.

See, I don't have as much of an issue with how Chapel and Uhura are portrayed because in TOS they are dealing with entirely different work environments. McCoy is not M'Benga and Kirk is no Pike. Also, most of the character work with those characters is taking place outside work or with characters who aren't part of the TOS command, so we aren't seeing different so much as new.
Spock is definitely different, but I think that is intentional.
Obviously they are getting some details wrong, and I get the frustration, but as someone who grew up watching soap operas daily, I have mostly adapted to that kind of thing.

Yeah, the drugs are not about the baby really. I firmly believe that Sasha would have gone back to the drugs even if Liam had been born perfectly healthy. Like, she never really took the time to deal with her addiction, she was hospitalized for the heart attack and then she got pregnant. Sure, being pregnant helped her stay off the drugs temporarily, but unless and until someone actually deals with things properly, they ain't going away.

I think Journalism and it's biases and objectivity are pretty important to history, as a lot of history has had to be "rediscovered" due to skewed reporting and being "written by the winners" as they say.
