  1. I wonder who gets cast in the Brando role. BELLAAAA!!! BELLAAA!!
  2. I feel giddy with excitement! This is the most I've ever enjoyed this show. I think production has hit on a winning formula: figure out who the viewers hate the most, then arrange for them to walk out the gate.
  3. One part of me is excited that the CKC are leaving in droves. I have my fingers crossed that they don't let either Bri or Mike come back. But then I remember that production gave us wonderful "pioneers" like Kristen, Katie and Cal as replacement utopians. What hope do we have that they will recruit anyone better? I don't know how Ernesto got recruited; so far I'm not aware of him doing anything cruel or sleazy (don't disappoint me, Ernesto).
  4. And to think that I once believed that Bachelor Pad was the ultimate in STD cesspools . . .
  5. It's even worse than that analogy, because the producers have set it up so that subsistence and self-sufficiency projects are costs that are charged to the community, while events involving outsiders are almost cost-free. They are charged for animal feed, vet visits, equipment for garden and animal care, but I haven't heard anything about charges for bringing in dozens of outsiders who are peculiarly eager to pay for admission and buy their "art." I can't help but believe that production is recruiting most of the visitors and giving them an allowance to spend at the events. That, or the TV show has produced at least some fans . . . No, it's probably production.
  6. I missed bits and pieces of the show tonight, but I got the impression that the edit was set up to make Bri and (maybe) Bella look better, and Red look worse. I certainly saw a lot of shots of Bri looking like a sad little girl and being hugged by people. The scenes with Chris were hard to follow, but it looked like he treated her like trash for no reason. Did they show any of her bad behavior, lies, etc.? Red does have a lot of outbursts, but it seemed like they didn't show the people who provoked him or were being as angry as him. I don't think I'm going to have much more patience for the way the show is edited to try to make things look so much sweeter than the reality. It just makes for a show that is boring and confusing because you never get the story behind the things they do show. I don't understand why you would cast a bunch of crazies, kooks and criminals, and then fail to show the quite dramatic things that they actually do. I wish they would give us the show that Turtle described above, except I wish they wouldn't cast so many bad people. I don't know the answer to the question about the nominations. My guess is that they would have had a tie-breaker between Red and Bri, so Red could have stayed nominated. If Bri was the nominee, then I guess we would have gotten the next person the viewers voted for.
  7. This must be the most horrible reality show cast ever assembled. Before this, I thought Evil Dick from BB was the worst ever. Here, half the cast is on or below his level.
  8. Mike lists his age as 33 (though I think he looks more late 30's). If he went straight through law school, that would put him 7 or 8 years out of law school. Many law firms have an "up or out" policy, in which associates either make partner or have to leave after 6 or 7 years. It doesn't mean you're necessarily a bad lawyer if you wash out, because there aren't that many partner slots. But from what we've seen of Mike's "work ethic" and "honesty," it would be more surprising if a law firm kept him than if they let him go. Bottom line, I doubt he has a job to go back to.
  9. It would explain a lot of things if Fox executives are in fact Kraken, Cthulu and/or Zuul-Americans.
  10. I think Bri is probably an impossible person to work with. If you are blunt with her, she will get all sulky and stabby. If you try to make the criticism kind and supportive, she will take it as validation that she has been right all along.
  11. This is exactly how I feel. I don't really even like the broadcast show of Big Brother, but following the show behind the show is addictive to me, especially when I get to discuss it with perceptive, intelligent people like you all. I'll be following Survivor and Amazing Race (and maybe Utopia), so looking forward to seeing some of youse in those forums.
  12. At this point it seems that there are only one or two people who are altruistic in the slightest (Hex and maybe Nikki?) and only a few more who are community-minded (Josh, Rob, sometimes Mike, sometimes Red, maybe Taylor?). I'm sure that the casting meant to ensure maximum drama, but I wonder if even production is surprised at how quickly this is devolving into a Lord of the Flies scenario.
  13. Does anyone know what foods they are planting? Starting in September, a lot of things would be iffy, even in southern California. Being a practical person, I would be thinking about what crops could be grown quickly to provide the most food value this time of year. I would also be thinking about what can be kept long-term in a root cellar, and what can be preserved. Do they have canning equipment, or has anyone put that on their wish list?
  14. I think the show ought to hire Zahdii as an episode editor, because these daily recaps turn this train wreck into one of the most entertaining and funny reality shows I've ever known. If only the real show was close to this good, it might have the potential to last a while. I have a feeling it's going to crumble when they realize that they've spent all their money in the first week or two, and have no way to actually survive. Yoga lessons aren't going to support this whole operation.
