  1. Sexy and classy, yes. Also, why should the Devil have a boring American accent? He would definitely want to stand out in LA!
  2. If any show begs for a Christmas episode, this one does. The way they cut that last scene, I'm betting the implied kiss doesn't happen. It's too obvious a route to go, and the writers have been clever enough with how they've structured the show that I would be disappointed if they do go there. And once Lucifer finds out that Chloe has been placed in his path by Dad . . . well, he may not blame her, but he's too much of a rebel for that to go down easily. I think there will be fireworks that get in the way of any romance. This is by far my favorite show on TV right now. The character interactions, the funny bits mixed with deeper emotional beats, the mix of visual humor (Amendiel holding the steering wheel) and verbal quips (and really, how many TV shows manage to work in a Nietzsche reference), the deeper questions about God and faith and divine plans--there's just so much more to this show than was suggested by the "Devil helps solve crimes" premise. I don't often re-watch episodes, but I have been re-watching these, and finding them just as enjoyable the second time around.
  3. I wonder if they are setting up Mr. Boss as the counterpoint to Viv's plans. He said something like "I own this town," while she wants to make it the capital of Zombie Nation. So, you have murderous thugs up against potentially murderous zombies in that scenario. (I'm assuming that zombies will still be on the QT for a while, that Viv isn't ready to make her move yet, and Liv and Team Z won't want to go to the authorities themselves.) And you could do a lot with Liv and the rest becoming reluctant allies with Mr. Boss in order to take down Viv. I don't think the opposite would happen, since I can't ever see Liv getting onboard with a plan to embrace being a zombie.
  4. I think where Alexander went wrong with his dress was that he made it sleeveless. The neckline itself wasn't all that different from some actual Baroque dresses, like this one: https://www.google.com/#tbm=isch&q=baroquedress museum&imgrc=HJV22C-e-Gu8uM%3A. But removing the sleeves, combined with making it all black (which hid the corset effect), made it read much more modern.
  5. Well, I was sad to see Jaxon go. Not that I thought he could or should win, but for me, he was the underdog of the season. He comes from a tiny town in Kansas and learned to sew from his grandma and 4H, while some of the kids come from backgrounds that have given them a lot more advantages. Of all of them, he probably had the most opportunity to learn and grow from the experience.
  6. There were so many problems with this episode, as others have pointed out. No ear protection when dealing with a sonic threat? Why not just ice the screamer guy and everybody else, rather than let Kyle Machlachlan blather on and on? Razor blade lady says she's not powerful and then manages to give Bobbi a heck of a fight? Blech. The diner scene made me roll my eyes. Where in this country can a guy in a muzzle sit in a diner and not get a second glance from the other customers? Or did I miss them giving an explanation to the folks in the diner? "Hey, it's the new trend in extreme dieting. That muzzle really keeps him from overeating!"
  7. I really didn't see this as referencing the abortion debate or environmentalists, either. There have been a lot of Who episodes where the human response to a strange or alien species has been to want to destroy it (the Silurians, for example). The Doctor has generally tried to interevene. So I thought it was an interesing idea for him to basically throw it back to the humans this time. Of course, it wasn't executed well. Here, in typical fashion for the Moffat era, the stakes have been upped to such a high level, with the fate of entire planet hanging in the balance, that to a lot of adults, it would seem ridiculous not to kill the baby. A kid might have a different response, more like Courtney. It would have made a lot more sense for her to have impulsively aborted the countdown, hoping that everything turned out okay. But because this is now the Clara show, it had to be her to make the choice. And then it set up her meltdown at the end, which felt a little over the top to me, but of course, we had to have a reason for her to "break up" with the Doctor. The gentler, wearily sad good-bye of Tegan doesn't fit in with the Moffat style of storytelling. Oh, and the baby laying a new moon egg was ridiculous.
  8. I'm with everybody else on Amanda's outfit being on top. It wasn't an interesting design, nor was it well put together. What qualified it as a top look, I have no idea. Here's Nick Verreous's take on his blog: It did look very much like a housecoat.
  9. I was so irritated at Zack placing fourth that I tuned out for most of the rest of the show, although I'm glad I managed to carch the group routine. That was good. I'm not completely shocked that Valerie placed as well as she did, since she was clearly popular. But I was kind of shocked at Jessica getting third. Who was voting for her? She just lacked spark to me.
  10. I loved this episode! We get to see why the judges are judges--all of their work was great. And this show really emphasized how important teamwork is in their profession, because they all were clearly experienced at working as team leaders to get their best of their people. Anybody who hopes to work in the industry should really take note of that. And all of the judges just seem like really nice people, too. I think Neville may have won in part because his work was so unexpected. The other looks were awesome (loved Ve's beauty makeup) but more traditional in scope. Neville really thought out of the box. The voters on the other teams might have been responding to that. Anybody who loves their kitties (and as a man, isn't afraid to say so--the whole "manly men don't like cats" stereiotype is so tiresome) is OK with me. As you might guess from the picture attached to this post.
  11. For my money, Zack's the most deserving of the win. To me , he's got the edge in terms of picking up the different styles and emoting while dancing. And he's got great musicality, too. That tap solo was pretty awesome. I'd have been on my feet if I was in the audience. I think the voting will be between him and Ricky. I'd like someone with hip hop experience to weigh in on the dance where they went head to head. Did either out dance the other?
  12. That is Moffat to a T--flashy cleverness is his thing. And major plot arcs are really not. I've been disappointed with the execution of the season long arcs under his tenure. As well as the idea that every young female companion who travels with the Doctor has to be some sort of extra super special person. Getting back to this episode, Missy was intriguing. But given Moffat's track record with plot arcs, I'm somewhat doubtful that I'm going to appreciate how it turns out.
  13. I liked Capaldi's Doctor; I think he's got the talent to be a fine Doctor if he's given good material to work with. That final scene with Clara and the vulnerability he showed worked really well. Count me as another one who's heartily sick of Moffat. He's always so busy being clever that he forgets to be consistent in terms of plot and character. And so we get Clara, who knows the Doctor regenerates, suddenly being absolutely unable to deal with his regeneration because that suits the story he wants to tell today.
  14. Ricky was much better than I expected. However, I wasn't impressed with Jessica's jazz. She seemed slow, and her movements weren't sharp enough, I think.
  15. Hooray! No more Rudy. I am so glad to be wrong. But boo to Tanisha leaving. She wasn't my favorite at the beginning, but she was a really amazing dancer. I threw all my votes to Zack. I really think he deserves to be in final four.
