I've either seen too many seasons, or this crew is particularly annoying (Serious), but I care considerably less than I usually do. Agreed that the stupid obstacle courses in the beginning are the worst part. I like the demonstrations from the chefs and then the tasting at the end. I'd like the show much more if it only lasted an hour.

A few takeaways from watching Gold Rush yesterday: That bad guy was obviously a bad guy because he had dark hair and a mustache. What the hell was up with his wife? That Italian family couldn't be more stereotyped. Zachariah (Uncle Jed, St. Peter, the guy who almost buys the farm) really overacts in his last scene!

I think the really big acts that have Vegas shows are just there to promote their acts.

For me, the first one is at least watchable. The second one wasn't.
