  1. I went to school in Southern California and we were not allowed to wear hats ever. Why does Marcus wear hats all the time? Is it just supposed to be a kooky trait of his or what?
  2. I know that people want Rayna and Deacon back together again but yeesh, Deacon is just so lovesick/mopey all the time. Yes, they were in love for a really long time but move on already! I'm not even sure they would live happily ever after together anyway - it's like what Deacon said about road life not being the same as real life. The two of them in a secret relationship in their 20s & 30s, isn't going to be the same as them in a public relationship in their 40s & 50s. They were very different people back when they were together. I see Micah getting sick /diagnosed with something where it will be revealed that Gunnar is not his father.
  3. I absolutely adore this show! When I read a summary of it (back in the spring, I think?), I thought it would be lame But I watched the pilot since I wasn't watching anything else on Tuesday at 8pm and I was instantly hooked. I think the two leads have major chemistry and the supporting cast is also great. So sad it was cancelled but I hope we get to see all 13 episodes (even if they only stream the rest online).
  4. People on this show are just so shrill (Gloria, Claire, Cam) - it's exhausting. And the separate storylines felt very disjointed.
  5. I don't know if this is universal, but at our university, Adjunct Profs don't teach and they don't get paid (it's more like a courtesy title). Unless the person is asked to teach a course, in which that person would also have the title of Lecturer. I'm not sure why the university would want to keep Sheldon so much. Yes, he's a genius and I assume he's made some breakthroughs in his field (I vaguely remember him winning an award in an earlier season?) - but he's a bit of a jerk and he doesn't seem to be this superstar scientist that he thinks he is. I get the feeling that he needs to stay at the university more than they need to keep him (can you imagine him at a job interview?). I liked how both Penny and the interviewer were both terrified of Bernadette :)
  6. I thought the challenge scores, along with the judges scores, and the social media scores, determines who goes home? So they do count, albeit maybe only a little? Ben's wig looked really bad because it was blond and his hair is brown - I think everyone else had wigs that matched their hair color (Shei not withstanding). I disagree with what Yu Tsai said about crying. If you want to be in the modeling industry, you need to learn not to walk off set crying. This is no different than Denzel(?) who tossed the bike aside and walk off in a huff during the optical illusion shoot.
  7. The whole junior professor thing bothered me. As others have mentioned: there's no "junior professor" position (just junior faculty, which usually describes assistant or associate professors early in their careers). No way a researcher (regardless of how brilliant) would just get promoted to a professor position. You'd at least have to apply. with an enrollment of zero, that class would have been cancelled after the 1st class (if not earlier) no way they would allow someone who has absolutely no interest in teaching teach a course - not with the cost of tuition these days. Unless he is the only person available/willing. But that's not even a required course (I assume), so why would they ask him to teach it? and regarding reporting Howard's spitballs - that would be more of a Dean of Student Affairs issue than an HR issue, since Howard was technically a student. I don't know how it works at private universities like Caltech, but our researchers work on projects where there is funding. If Sheldon doesn't want to work on string theory, fine, but then he needs to bring in some grants for the new research that he wants to do (or charm some donors into giving him some gift money). That would be a more realistic storyline, and one that could be funny in its own way. Or have them ask Sheldon to be a lecturer which essentially the same storyline as the one here - professors aren't the only ones who teach. Also, I don't think it's possible for Howard to just enroll in some courses to get his doctorate. It almost sounded like he was in a doctoral program but just didn't finish - if that's the case, I assume it's the research/dissertation part that he didn't finish. You usually get the few courses you need to take out of the way right off the bat. Besides, what does Howard need a doctorate for? He has a job (presumably good enough) and he's gone to space!
  8. Gillian Jacobs was so adorbs on this - it was kind of odd seeing her all girly-girl since Britta is so not a girly-girl and Community is the only thing I've seen her in. I admit that I thought she wasn't going to be very good but she was very quick and bright. I can't believe Jerome didn't get motorcycle. And that the Pittsburgh team didn't get Mad Men! I don't even watch the show and I could have guessed it. The Pittsburgh team really did not do well on TVID, but it was funny during the last clue where Gillian was debating if it was Gossip Girl or Veronica Mars and Joe said something like "Jerome and I don't watch those shows".
  9. Sid seemed willing, though reluctantly, to be a radio operator in the Pacific, but I think once he realized Frank sold him out in exchange for keeping their group together, he was out for revenge. Immediately after Frank left, Sid asked the army guard to get Toby Ziegler back because he was ready to talk (presumably about Frank). Edit - I assumed Sid was on his way to kill Frank (trying to break into the place)... but apparently he was trying to break out? Well, I read that scene wrong!
  10. I didn't see this episode when it first aired and I actually didn't mind it too much. Reading the message boards, it was pretty clear Martin Short was going to be too much, but I just kind of tuned him out. I still think Leah Remini was way over the top (although I haven't seen the Michael Weatherly episode). The civilian guy (Eugene?) seemed pretty clueless so even if he somehow made it to the bonus round, I was sure he would have done poorly. The guys were pretty bad at some of the games. And for the smash the buzzer game, Jason Alexander & Eugene should have booted the civilian girl (can't remember her name) and left the girl from 2 Broke Girls in the game - I think she would have been easier to beat. Julie Bowen reminded me of her character on Modern Family - crazy competitive and a little scary. As for the bonus round, it was crazy! The civilian got Justin Bieber out of something along the lines of "he doesn't have to be a bad boy". Valerie Bertinelli gave really good clues.
  11. The clue for Glee that I thought of was "Regionals!" but I'm not sure if anyone else would have gotten it. Seth spent way too much time on Christopher Walken. And mixing up Kate Upton with Kate Middleton... that's almost as bad as Zachary Levi with his Kris Jenner goof.
