  1. I didn't either! I didn't recognize him at all until I noticed his name in the credits. He's definitely changed a lot from his Almost Famous and Without Limits days. I guess you can't really count The Watchmen since he was mostly blue for that.
  2. I just started watching. I'm only a couple of episodes in, but I definitely think Jean is a danger to herself, her family and maybe her patients most of all. It could be that I've just been in therapy too long (with functional therapists) but if my therapist started acting the way Jean does, I would definitely cut and run and seek out someone new. Her relationship with her patients seems so weird to me and I can't believe the others in her practice aren't picking up on it more, even just from what little she's sharing in their debriefs. Of course, I guess there wouldn't be a show if they nipped her unethical behavior in the bud. I'm definitely hooked and in for the rest of the series!
  3. But wouldn't the bulk of the money go to Sir George's next male heir? We know they didn't have a child. Maybe I've just been watching too much Downton Abbey, but I wouldn't think the money would just go to the wife. It seems so unlikely. Perhaps a small allowance. Of course if her family is well off, they could help her any way they choose. I'm sure she's glad to be free of Sir George regardless! The resolutions might have been a bit too tidy (getting Harriet's children back was really just too easy), but I loved the story lines set up for a possible second season. Overall I was really pleased with this finale!
  4. I can't wait to see how this wraps up! Is it Wednesday yet? :)
  5. Margaret has all the same excuses, if not more. Sold by her mother at 10 to Lydia Quigley? We all know how Lydia treats her girls. We may not know all of Margaret's back story, but I'm sure there was plenty of abuse and rape along the way. Frankly, I'm surprised Margaret is capable of having any maternal feelings or emotions at all! I honestly think Margaret is doing the best she can. Yes, her best is falling woefully short for everyone in her life, but given her upbringing, I find it hard to sit in judgement of her for her bad choices. I think they would all be happier if they hadn't moved to Greek street, but there would be no juicy story for us. :) All the Wells women have made huge mistakes at this point, but it's very easy to understand why they've done what they've done. Charlotte should have stayed far away from her mother's house, but she needed to check on her sister. Lucy should never have stabbed Sir George, but she was being raped. She also shouldn't have turned in Marney, but she thought she was helping her sister. Margaret shouldn't have killed Sir George or given up Emily's location, but she was terrified for her own daughter. Haxby remains a bit of a mystery. He may not think Charlotte killed Sir George, but I do think he absolutely blames her for what happened. Given the time period, I'm not sure all of Lady Caroline's problems are over. Wouldn't George's money (and Caroline's too) go to George's closest male heir? We know they didn't have children.
  6. Ooo - GREAT point! I hadn't thought about it that way, but it makes total sense. Maybe he was looking to use Charlotte for her money (that he assumed she had and doesn't) all along. Hmm...
  7. Marney just started whoring himself out. He hasn't had time to build up savings. If Charlotte had a similar arrangement to the one that was offered Lucy, she should have been making a good bit of money. I'm assuming her expenses were paid for, plus she would have the jewelry George had given her as gifts (we've only seen a ring, but there must be more?). I'm not sure how old Charlotte is supposed to be or how long she's been with George, but it doesn't seem unreasonable for her to have a couple hundred pounds or so stashed away (or for Marney to *think* she might have that much). Of course, we do know she has a gambling problem so maybe she never saved any money always assuming there would be more? I actually really liked the love scene between them where Charlotte said she didn't know how to be real and he said there was no money in the room. I do think he cares for her, I just don't think he's very smart or a good planner. Running away to America is kind of a pipe dream with no resources, but I'm sure lots of folks did it anyway. Speaking of jewelry, I feel like the rings Nancy took from George are eventually going to play a bigger part in either getting caught or shifting the blame onto someone else.
  8. Killing George has set up an interesting choice for Margaret. It's clear that Charlotte is going to be implicated. When it comes down to protecting her girls, I think Margaret has always favored Lucy. I wonder if she'll continue to do so at the expense of Charlotte? Lucy has always been annoying, but the character I'm most disappointed in at the moment is Charlotte. She was presented at first as the shrewd harlot, masterful at manipulating men to get what she wanted, a complete foil to her naive, ineffectual little sister. First she has sex with Haxby (which still barely makes sense), then she publicly humiliated George (not that he didn't deserve it, but that scene surely won't help her get another rich keeper), and now she's thrown in her lot with a penniless Irish man? Charlotte isn't supposed to be the one to let her emotions run away with her. Even if she does escape the hangman's noose for George's murder, I'm not sure what her prospects could be now. She's ruined her reputation as a harlot and she has no money to start over in America. What's the end game for her character? I will say this episode totally surprised me. I didn't expect George to die or Lydia to get her hands on Emily again so quickly!
  9. I watched the sneak peak on Hulu a half dozen times trying to figure out who gets slapped and what the hell was going on in the last few seconds!
  10. How old do we think Charlotte is? If Lucy is 18, Charlotte must be at least 20? 22? She seems even older to me, but that's probably because of the age of the actress, not her character. And she's been out since she was 12! So while she may be young, she's certainly not a new face on the scene and has been a harlot for many years now. I think it might be harder for her to move on than she might think. I wonder what her plan is for the future or if she's even given it any thought? She doesn't seem to want to run a house like her mom.
  11. So what do we think is wrong with Mr. Osborne? I was terribly disappointed that we didn't learn more about him! Very curious to see how Emily handles him. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out she's fine with whatever it is about him that bothers the other girls.
  12. Interesting! I had assumed the kidnapping charges were for Margaret herself, but this angle makes more sense. I can't wait to find out the backstory there, as there's definitely more to their relationship than we've learned so far.
  13. I love Rita Ora, but I don't know if I can watch this show without Tyra's special blend of crazy keeping it popping.
  14. This is horrifying. SHE'S THIRTY. She talks about herself like she's 13. And she's been taking pregnancy tests for FIFTEEN YEARS. EVERY MONTH? Who does that? Surely condoms are cheaper than 180 pregnancy tests? If she's doing this to trap Nev into marriage and/or child support, she's an idiot and should have set her sights higher. But honestly, I think she's just an idiot. WT actual F? Nev's entire career is built on being naive and gullible. I can't believe these people are going to be parents.
