  1. Was this meant to be a joke?? I call myself a craft person, but have never heard of a project such as this - totally goes right over my head.
  2. @Walnutqueen, I admire your efforts for the feral cat. I'm a cat lover but have seen the unrest feeding feral cats can raise with other people who don't feel the same way.
  3. I tried but got an error msg that you 'can't receive messages' ? Duh, never mind, was typing in the wrong username
  4. oh.my.gosh, I totally agree and I'm no better - I totally get sucked in and then hate myself for how I sound. Lately, I've been remembering something that Jen Coffey posted and it really stayed with me. "You can't hang out with negative people and expect to live a positive life". The ignore feature does work and depending on how you feel that particular day, you can always read what you've hidden. I do that, because I have days I can tolerate and then there are days I can't. And another thing that bums me out is I seriously think there's a clique mentality that exists and if you don't participate well - who cares about you. But like everything else it ebbs and flows. Hang in there - you are not alone.
  5. me too!!! my fondest memory of a pharmaceutical company I worked for was their cafeteria's hot meatloaf sandwich - white bread, meatloaf and slathered with gravy - my mouth waters just thinking about it.
  6. Well, thanks to you ladies here, me who NEVER goes braless outside, went braless outside today. Go figure. You can probably imagine I don't have much up top to worry about flinging thisaway or thataway. I just happened to never put one on this morning (a bra that is) because I had no errands to run and just went outside and did my thing.... plus I was wearing a looser top. Nothing like the power of suggestion..... I think I could be hypnotized pretty easily too.... lol!!
  7. I was wondering about her too.... she seemed to really take the 'someone reporting that picture' she posted really hard. Please come back @OBS - we need you to check in. :-)
  8. My Mom went sort of suddenly (stroke) and she never woke up but I think she knew what she was doing because she left us on HER Mother's date of death. Her mom probably walked her out of this world. No way is a good way and I think you're never prepared ever no matter how much you think you are or what the circumstances are. Hugs to those of you dealing with this decidedly difficult aspect of life.
  9. yeah - what is it about clutter?? - it's sooo pervasive. I try and try and try to not let it accumulate, but it always does. But I think if I lived with someone I'd be better at it - living alone I just let it go and hope and pray no one will just drop by. lol!!
  10. This made me laugh because I can't tell you how many times I've seen the neighbor behind me watering her garden in what look like juice can size rollers. Hee! I usually have a headful of larger Velcro rollers myself, but I've only ever gone as far as my front door and stuck my head out to get the paper.
  11. This!! He made her look ridiculous and small and petty.
  12. I buy Wholly Guacamole minis (4 to a box) specifically for the reason you mention - it's readily available, but I do prefer to make my own because I have a serious sensitivity to spicy anything and the pre-made ones or store made usually kill me. Making it myself I can put what I know I can eat in it.
  13. interesting choice of words..... ;-) Exactly! anytime I do make it I always wind up freezing half or more than half. I do prefer brown gravy rather than the ketchup.
  14. True confessions: I find it sad to have reached this age in my life and I don't have a favorite meatloaf recipe. Isn't that kind of pathetic? Everyone makes meatloaf and I do love it, but I swear anytime I do make it (which is rarely) I always have to look for a recipe. I have no cooking instincts whatsoever.
  15. sounds yummy to me - thanks for sharing :-)
  16. Why Why Why when we've just had a long weekend do people have to cut their grass, run their blowers to high heaven on Memorial Day??? Ticks me off. I just stored a half without the pit but with lemon juice and wrapped in plastic wrap. It didn't brown up too badly but I'm going to buy those smaller ones from now on. I've seen them. I had my avocado with lime juice (don't recall who suggested that) but it was yummy!! plus I put salsa on it too. Loved it.
  17. LOL! I can't help it but my weight watchers training sets in.....
  18. Wow! Good on you! that's something I've never done. It's always looked intimidating to me. My luck I'd cut a finger off. I just eat it off the cobb and just never look anyone in the face saving them the godawful image of seeing me with corn stuck in every tooth.!! lol!
  19. I have one of those pull chopper thingys from QVC and ever since I got it I never do it by hand anymore - works great!
  20. Thanks for the avocado tips. I'm such a nerd about not wanting to eat the same thing two days in a row, but I guess when it comes to avocado, I'm going to have to change my ways. I have a 1/2 in the refrigerator as we speak wrapped tightly in plastic, but naturally, I threw out the pit. I'll know better next time. :-)
  21. I'm new to eating avocado, or maybe a better way to say it is, preparing it myself, that is. I've eaten it when someone else has made it - guac, etc. It's just me here, so what is the best way to store avocado - either just a whole half or when it's smooshed together to use later for toast. Can you tell I'm a real novice here? (probably why I've never eaten it before - intimidated). It's good at first cut, but always turns black before I have a chance to eat the leftovers. Hep me.
  22. As for scary incidents at work and psycho employes, I think I got out of my job situation just in the nick of time because there was a negative atmosphere that had started simmering for a long time. Cost cutting measures, job cuts and no replacements, people having to pick up the slack with no compensation. The morale of the whole place was deteriorating rapidly and ultimately there was a bankruptcy. I wasn't faced with any psychos per se, but it felt like you could see it coming if things didn't change. I was a casualty of the bankruptcy but luckily I had the years in to qualify for a pension and financially was able to leave that job and survive on my own. Praise God. My company made a comeback but I never felt the same loyalty or regard for them as I had for those 30 years prior but I'm still grateful for those solid years of employment - something I don't think you'll see much anymore. I often wonder what the work environment is like nowadays.
