When I was in college eons ago, there was an UCLA entertainment booker that was a big fan of Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. She would have 4-6 local/international reggae bands booked each month. Every Jamaican, Rastafari believer, Brit expatriate, reggae lovers would be there. You couldn't see the stage for the pot smoke sometimes. She booked a double bill UB40/Bob Marley and the Wailers (Uprising album tour) At Drake Stadium and it was SRO; the fans were hanging off the fences. Fantastic concert!

I'm afraid that Darvon winding himself into a snit over Chance going on his secret mission is merely a contrivance by the writers to spring the NewChance on the viewers to gin up more unnecessary drama and conflict where Show doesn't need it.
Honestly, Darvon and Mariah were the worst possible candidates for surrogacy.

They all know. The fallout was uneven but to be expected.
I wonder if the post-hostage/Marco uneven character reaction was in part because of the uneven audience reaction to the doppelgänger story. It was a way for TIIC to shake off the obscenity they had written. Having the other characters with differing reactions and opinions gave TIIC an easy out and left the viewer reactions all over the map.
If you hated Phyllis, her being manipulated and raped by Marco was exactly what she deserved. If you thought Victor was brilliant and/or Super Evul, enjoy. If you cried for Jack's fear and frustration as a hostage, you had Lovely Marissa working with him to gain his freedom. If you were fascinated with PB playing the good and terrible Jack Abbott, he did a great acting job.
The Marco doppelgänger had all the dramatic cues to draw in the viewer, and it was disgusting.
QuoteNikki was appalled, as was Victoria. Nick wrote Victor off. None of this lasted for all that long.
I never understood Nick's attitude, particularly when he got back together with Phyllis. He had to know Phyl detested his family for their acquiescence and yet he expected her to act like Little Bo Peep when in their presence. Moron then. Moron now.
QuoteThe worst offender was Dummer, who seemed pretty unfazed by what her pony-gifting Grampa had done to her mother. She was even more appalling than usual. I just remembered - Abby was pretty blah about what he did to dear Uncle Jack, too. Because of how much she loved her father - Blech.
Dumber's response was a surprise, considering Phyllis is Ride or Die when it comes to Dumber. But it also demonstrated exactly how shallow, faithless, and selfish Dumber happens to be. If anything, Dumber's story writing has remained consistent.
QuoteIt was such a stupid storyline and took Victor to a place that was pretty irredeemable. A very bad storytelling choice IMO, but like ButtBiscuit sleeping with Dummer, Dummer pursuing him, Dummer bargaining away a piece of her liver for Kyle's paw in marriage, it's all part of the story canon now.
And TIIC brushed it off, allowing Victor to swan through the turmoil like nothing had happened. Jack and Phyllis raged and frothed and it all came to nothing.
As you pointed out, it gave a new regime of Monkeys with Laptops an open invitation to write another obscene story for characters with no ethics to do terrible things and get away with no repercussions.

Noah and Faith have had their share youthful mishaps and indiscretions. At this point on Show, they're fairly balanced people, though I think Noah is withholding a lot of information from his time in London..
22 hours ago, nilyank said:I think so is Mariah (not including her present storyline) and Cassie was pretty smart and they are all Sharon's kids with 2 of them with Nick. While Nick's other child Summer is Dummer.
Cassie was adopted and raised by Alice Johnson originally, returned to Sharon and Nick as a fully formed, sweet little girl. Mariah was raised by wolves in a cult, and needed civilizing by Sharon.
It seems Cassie and Mariah characters were built more by nature than nurture.
Dumber is a product of nurture. There was nothing stable about her upbringing, and both parents were either over-indulgent or negligent by chasing their own selfish pursuits.
CAN is an unknown quantity; we hear about him, but is never seen.

Why does the sperm donor get to hold the salami and spend time alone with it when the surrogate is chased away with torches and brooms? Neither of them are the legal parents/guardians.
Team Baby trusts Rev. Darvon's peaceful assistance over Mariah's admission she's had a profound change and is having difficulties.
Darvon hasn't showed any of the scary hormonal emotionalism that Mariah has demonstrated. Remember Mariah had to leave the Chancellor Mansion because she couldn't handle the mental and physical upheaval gestating, giving birth, and the nursing program put her under.
Rev. Darvon has repeated his calm and beatific homilies without a whisper of what his genuine feelings are for Bowie until today, he talked about losing his Hillary baby and questioned if it was a good idea (did he mean safe?) to return Bowie to Abby. But when Abby woke up and immediately embraced Bowie to comfort him, I think Rev. Darvon was a little disappointed he wasn't needed to play his Baby Whisperer Routine
QuoteAnd the salami has three living grandparents and a nanny and an uncle and an aunt and a great aunt and a great uncle. I don't see the logic of all of this sperm donor involvement.
Bowie has plenty of people perfectly capable of caring for him and assisting Abby with the Chance Go Boom! situation.
Mariah is still under the stress of pregnancy/birth/milk production and untreated PTSD from the kidnapping. For every self-treatment for those stresses, she takes three steps back absorbed in real/imagined dangers for Bowie's welfare. Her certainty that she's the only person able to protect Bowie is irrational, but that's where her head is at. Tessa can barely reel her back in from her flight of fear over Bowie.
Rev. Darvon is trusted by Abby and family, because he hasn't made a point of making his emotional ties to Bowie or make his position more significant to Team Baby. Darvon's a helper.
QuoteIt's not like Chance won't be back. It's not like Abby and Chance will be killed off. It's not like Abby will dump Chance for the sperm donor.
Chance will reappear. That's already been loudly telegraphed by Abby's dialogue today.
QuoteWhat's it leading to - Darvon getting baby rabies and demanding Hilary 7.0 pop one out? And if she refuses he goes after her sister? That's too dull even for these MWTs.
I think Rev. Darvon will spend more time with Abby and Bowie, taking on a more direct and active paternal role (While Hillary 2.0 is busy with her father's murder trial). Darvon groused many times how he disagreed with Chance leaving Abby for the mission, now is his opportunity to father his biological son. Chance will return. Darvon will fight back. Abby will be confused and guilty for leaning on Darvon.
QuoteWhat's the point? Because whatever it is, assuming there is a point to it, isn't very interesting to watch.
There isn't one.
TIIC can come up with a good SL, but are terrible at writing a interesting story arc that doesn't devolve into crap, ending abruptly with no purpose in mind.

This whole Chance is dead story line is killing me. Is it possible to die of boredom?
You've got to give MO some credit; she's trying very hard (And that dream sequence was terrible), but TIIC can't write their way out of the corner they've created, so they keep dragging out the inevitable (Like listening to Nick and Phyllis drone on about their inability to admit that he's a jealous, whining child and she's deaf to anything but her own concerns).
Mariah and Darvon are looking to anoint themselves Bowie's guardian ad litem to fix what's missing in them; which is something Bowie cannot fix and a position they don't belong. Victor and Ashley are carefully giving Abby time to accept Chance Go Boom!, with the useless assist of Sharon (Shut It, you stupid, gossiping bint!) and Dr, Nate Natety Nate Nate Nate Nate, who made the most sense of the two, having suffered personal loss, and calling Abby on feeding her delusions and not taking care of herself since Chance left.
When everyone, with no say in what Abby is or is not capable of, make their individual decisions what will transpire for Abby and Bowie, Abby steps up and comforts her son.
As much as I love Mariah, if she doesn't realize her Baby Rabies is a personal obsession and not a call to protect Bowie from imagined problems, takes one step toward usurping Abby's maternal rights, her character will be ruined.

Efforts to fight climate change are being held back in part because coal, the biggest single source of climate-changing gases, provides cheap electricity and supports millions of jobs. So I’ve reached the point where I FF thru all the Phyllis scenes, doesn’t matter if she’s with Jack or Nick, but most especially Nick. I just can’t anymore. And Nick seriously needs to just get down off that horse he’s riding because he looks like even more of an idiot. Wah wah daddy only loves me sometimes. But then he shuts me out in favor of Adam when he needs some dirty work done. Who cares if I’ve repeatedly told him NOT to involve me in his nefarious deeds? I want daddy to ask ME! ME! ME!
Nick has a long history of brushing aside his malicious behavior and crimes, all to turn it around by condemning others for what he perceives are slights against himself.
Phyllis can't get out of her own way or control her antagonistic communication skills, to simply listen to Nick whine and complain like an immature asshat. Her hatred of all things Newman (and it's becoming apparent to Nick that she's incapable of giving the type of support he's been asking for, and might only be tolerating him because of the money he lent her for the Gangrenous Parsimony and their Sexxxy Times) is a low bar and the only thing important to her. Demanding Nick agree with her puts him on the defensive and he spouts Ride or Die with his family ... Phyllis refuses to let go of her hostility.
It's an impasse, something neither of them will be willing to sort out.
QuoteSally girl, I kinda like you but please just stay the hell away from Jack. He isn’t worth your time or effort and he’ll always take Phyllis’ side no matter what. (Sigh) I used to really like Jack. Now he can just Fuck off with his sanctimonious attitude toward Sally. Jack honey, if you keep looking for the Virgin Mary you’re going to be perpetually disappointed. Especially at your age. Everyone has baggage, including you. Sure you have a right to be disappointed and even upset that a woman you cared for, repeatedly lied to you. But that’s where it ends. You don’t get to rag on her every minute of every day because your feelings were hurt. Grow up and pull up your big boy pants if you can find them.
Sally's insecurity demands that she confront every person she's upset/lied to/offended for absolution or acknowledgement. She wants to be recognized as a talent and her detractors regret dismissing her.
Let it go, Sally.
The same can be said that Jack pursues contact with Sally if only to insult or demean her, because he blames her for being left alone when Dumber, Kyle and Locke Jr went to Milan. Jack chooses to be alone. And that's nobody's fault but Jack's.
Quotemichael wants Amanda to testify against Sutton, saying he only wants her to discuss what transpired after she was fired. Didn’t The Firm teach us that attorney/client privilege extends in perpetuity? Or is that only for things that happened while she was still employed by him? Either way it’s at least unethical and I’m sure (IRL anyway) the Bar’s Ethics Committee wouldn’t be too pleased. Not to mention any potential clients. Of course I still don’t understand how this case is being tried in Wisconsin? Didn’t the crime happen in Chicago? Last I checked, Chicago was part of Illinois, not Wisconsin. But hey, why let silly geography get in the way of a stupid storyline?
There's no there there with Sutton's murder trial (or much of anything involving Hillary 2,0 finding her maternal family). Why should we care? TIIC chose not to create a character driven story that involves Hillary 2.0s maternal family. We haven't seen Naya and Imani in weeks, never seen Naya's husband. Sutton is a black cloud looming over Hillary 2,0s life and she wants him to suffer the same as she has and imagines Naya has been hurt. Testifying to conversations after Sutton fired her sounds unethical for Hillary 2,0 to balance her already tarnished reputation and law license upon, but she's game.
Damaging Sutton's reputation and sending him to prison won't be enough for Hillary 2.0.
Quoteso Billy thinks he’s going to malign Adam and get Sally of all people to spill whatever she may have heard? So glad she held her own and made it clear that her loyalty is to her employer. Of course Adam saw them together and is going to conclude there’s something going on, without even asking her WHY she was sitting with Billy. Because that’s how this show rolls.
NotBilly is on a fishing expedition with Sally. Any small piece of information might lead NotBilly to where Gaines in located. NotBilly isn't half as clever as he thinks he is. Warning Sally about Atona was a laugh, forgetting that NotBilly is just as malevolent and should be wearing his own warning notification in polite company.
His intent is to tie up Atonal, Victor and Locke-ness in the same criminal conspiracy, and salvage all the money and time he's wasted at Chance Dot Com trying to stop Victoria from moving on from their past.
NotBilly's desperate for a win, as he rushes headlong into another brick wall ... And with Lily's acquiescence.
Another business plan full of holes from the NotBilly brain trust.
QuoteI didn’t pay much attention to Rey and Noah’s conversation today but I don’t get how he can think Mariah is in a ‘good place’ based on one round of drinks. And has he even spoken to Faith? Rey had to tell him that faith is hung up on Moses. If Noah had even one conversation with her, he would have discerned that for himself.
That was an odd exchange. Was Rey Rey exercising his territorial rights as Sharon's husband, or just annoyed that Noah was treating the cottage like a crash pad, with no plans how long he was staying in Genoa City?
I don't think Noah is that concerned about Nick's dust up with Victoria or what's going on with his family. He's been reticent to talk about why he wants to leave London and too interested in Tessa's romantic life with his half-sister.
QuoteSo ashland isn’t responding to the chemo. I really don’t want him to die, RB has been a breath of fresh air and even made Victoria likable. I’d say it might be a fake out but I’ve (thankfully) been proven wrong before when I thought he was scheming against her. So I don’t know what to think.
It would be a shame to kill off Locke-ness, just as Victoria is beginning a life as a happily married lady. It's one of the few times EH has been fully engaged in her character; RB brings out all the best in her.
Locke-ness is conspiring with Victor and Atonal to crush NotBilly/Chance Dot Com, while giving Victoria room for plausible deniability, should the subject arise.
Anything that wipes the smug off of NotBilly's face and publicly exposes him as a waste of skin, I support.

Oh Wow! We had the ultimate episode today, just what we've all been waiting for. We had an episode of ButtBiscuit talking to Rey Rey - and in a BOOTH, no less! (I do love a booth).
The drama......it gripped.
Right in the upper intestines.
QuoteOne question, though.......why does ButtBiscuit look like he had his lips injected with worms and then the worms just up and died in there. Quite a look.
Why are so many actors going for fillers and Botox when it makes them look like wax works?
QuoteAnd why does Rey Rey always hold his head back so you can't help but look up his nose? Is he trying to compete with ButtBiscuit as to who's packin' the biggest nostrils?
Leading with a glass jaw like Rey Rey's is never a good plan.
QuotePiker - ButtBiscuit will always win that contest.
That's a fact.
QuoteI felt so sorry for Ashley being stuck in the Chancellor House with all those grim Baby Chancellor cult members. She looked like she wished she was wherever Chance is. Chance isn't dead, he just doesn't want to come home to any of that.
It seems a waste to drop Eileen Davidson in the middle of this nonsense. She won't be around long enough to be effective. What happened to Ashley and Victor's agreement to find Chance and drag his useless carcass back to Genoa City?
QuoteIf Chance has been killed, though, that's a pretty rough start in life for a two month old Cotto Salami named Dominic.
