  1. I have to admit, I thought the people who talked about "fabulous" David were just exaggerating. But then I watched his youtube channel a bit, and oh boy, this guy is really fabulous. I would be willing to bet money on it. I mean, I hope for this and his wife's sakes that he is not, cause that would be a miserable life having to pretend to be straight and standing there while everyone talks about those evil gays and how they are destroying society.
  2. I also don't think that J'Chelle and Boob will ever truly leave the ATI cult. If more scandals about Gothard will become public, I can see them slightly distance themselves from him (along with other famous ATI people like the Bates), but that's about it. I can imagine that they will become a bit more liberal and tired of controlling the lives of their younger children as much as they did with the older ones. But other than that, I don't see them ever leaving the ATI variety of fundie land. Because for them, leaving their cult would entail realizing and admitting (even if only to themselves) that they spend all their adult life following rules and convictions that were harmful to their children and (gasp) might not even be as biblical as Gothard claims. I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.
  3. Yes, this whole way of thinking is simply stupid. Getting sick is something that happens to basically everyone in their lifetime, so having an insurance is a very sensible way to secure your family. I think most of these fundies are also very fond of guns, and none of these would ever say things like: well, I'm against guns, because I trust God that I won't get robbed. But sure, stuff like health insurance is a sign that you don't trust God enough.
  4. Just a quick question: in the earlier episodes, back when they were still living in their old, small house, they all wore identic or at least very similar clothing. How on earth did they always manage to find identical clothes for each of the kids sizes in a goodwill store?!
  5. I think she has at least two houses. Also, there was the place where she lived with her husband. I doubt that was just rented.
  6. Yeah, the Bates seem a bit more sensible in that departement. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it if they are truly voluntarily taking a sibling with them when they leave the Duggar compound. However, I somehow get the feeling, that this isn't (always) the case...
  7. Yes, doing laundry is not rocket science nowdays. It's truly embarrassing if a man can't do it. I guess it has more to do with the whole Duggar way of thinking that household work is up to women, while men should be working outside the home and providing for their families. However, I don't see the teenage boys working outside the home and bringing the family home money, so they might as well participate in the housework and help out their sisters and their grandma.
  8. It's pretty clear that they don't have the same standarts for boys and girls. While the boys don't have to do much housework/siblings raising, and enjoy a lot more personal freedom such as going out alone, the girls truly are slaves in their own home. I mean seriously, not letting a grown up women go out alone for things like grocery shopping is simply sick. And it goes to show how they don't trust their own upbringing. If you raise your children well, you don't have to be afraid to let them out into the world, as they should be strong enough and have enough character to resist all those evil temptations that can occur if someone takes a trip to the local supermarket.
  9. Right. But then you can't let the girls come in contact with boys underwear either! I suggest separate laundry rooms for boys and girls, where everyone over the age of 12 has to wash their own clothes. Children who are 11 and under can give their dirty clothes to J'Chelle (the girls) and Boob (the boys), so they can wash them for them. I think that solution would be awesome. And so modest ;)
  10. I hope Grandma and Boobs sister somehow try to balance the J'Chelle and Boob crazy out. Wouldn't it be great if they took all the older girls on a vacation. J'Chelle would have to stay at home and parent her own children and do her own laundry for once! I think Boob is a total tool that he let's his mother do the laundry. Even if she offered it herself, he just should have said no, and should have hired someone to do the work, if he and J'Chelle don't want to do it themselves. The Duggars could afford it by now.
  11. I don't understand that either. Also, why didn't anyone step up when Gothard did that in first place?! I'm pretty sure it goes against their "rules" that young girls are alone in a room with a man who isn't their father or their brother. My parents, who aren't in a cult, would have never let me stay alone in an office with a old man for "counseling"! And I would never let my children do that either. How naive can you be? This goes to show how brainwashed these ATI people truly are, that they think Gothard can do no wrong and let him break all his own rules when it comes to those poor girls.
  12. Yeah, well, that's the problem. J'Chelle and Boob should talk to them and frequently interact with them individually from when they are small babies until they are adults. But they don't. And it shows with the little ones imo.
  13. Well, I think it depends on what you mean with "go out alone". I think they let them go alone to the local grocery store for example. But I highly doubt they let them travel alone through the country. I'm not sure though, maybe someone else knows more.
  14. I wonder how Jana would react if the found herself alone in a bigger town. With enough money, but without any "chaperones". That would be interesting to see.
  15. I also have absolutely no problem with stay-at-home moms, I think everyone should be able to choose what they think fits bests for them. But, and that's a fact, single mothers with children make up the biggest group in my country that depends on social welfare (which means nothing other than other peoples tax-money). I think everyone should choose for themselves, but that also means that everyone should be responsible for those choices. If someone chooses to stay at home for years, they should also have some back-up plans in case the husband loses his job, if he wants a divorce and so on. I know a very nice lady who got married right after school, never worked, built her life with her husband, raised the kids, took care of the family. And well, one day, the husband left her, and managed to transfer a lot of money to his mistress, so that his wife didn't get enough in the divorce. She is now stuck with having to be a cleaning lady for other families. I know that because my parents employed her for a few hours a week, because they felt sorry for her. So I think it's highly irresponsible of Boob and J'Chelle do deny their daughters a proper education. Even if they want to be housewifes, with a good education they would still have much better chances providing for their family if something would happen to their husband or their marriage.
