  1. Apparently in California (or Los Angeles - where this was set I believe) you can volunteer to do jury duty. Well that's what I saw on a TikTok video addressing the issue. I have no idea if correct but it makes sense. You answer the casting call, get picked and then go in and volunteer as tribute for a case to get the show rolling. See, I would have bought that they were volunteer jurors, except that half the jurors were trying to get out of jury duty. And why would Marsden be there - also trying to get out of serving - if he volunteered? Were they trying to say that some jurors came from Craigslist and some jurors were summoned? I actually ended up liking the show, so I’m not going to think too hard about the fakeness of it. They should have said it was like a behind-the-scenes documentary on a Judge Judy type of show. Then you could have volunteer jurors and wackiness from wanna-be-actor jurors who would be treating the case more like an opportunity to make it their big break rather than serve the litigants. They also did a very good job in casting Ronald. He was a perfect mix of down to earth, good looking, boy next door niceness. You could root for him whether he was real or not.
  2. The premise of this show doesn’t make sense. In order to wind up in the pool for jury duty you have to receive an official summons. If he’s the only person that was summoned who isn’t an actor, how did he get summoned? The casting people had to find him somewhere. It seems like this Joe Schmo had to have had an agent or gone to a casting call. He probably didn’t know exactly what he was signing up for, but he didn’t just show up at jury duty.
  3. So happy to find this thread. I didn’t learn about Indian Matchmaker until season 2, so I just binged both seasons. I love this show. I hope they don’t wait 2 years to do another season. I agree with the poster who said the people interested in traditional matchmaking are probably not doing this show. I was really embarrassed for some of these 30 year olds when they listed their criteria. I think it was Shital who asked for a man with tattoos. That’s like something you care about in your 20s — not even really. She looks great for her age but she came off as immature and short-sighted. Also, the women were really defensive when they talked about their careers. They tried hard to show how accomplished they were and pointed out that other people weren’t as well off as them. I noticed the men didn’t do that. I’m sure it has to do with years of sexism where women have to work twice as hard to be taken as seriously as men, but it made the ladies seem like they had chips on their shoulders. Arsh was quite accomplished, but he became more attractive because he spoke so humbly about his work. And yes Arsh gave the only comment that made me lol when he said his mom called and told him she found a great matchmaking site called LinkedIn. LinkedIn profiles do look like biodatas! The situations with Prad and Vinesh just prove my theory that if you give most men models, no matter what the models’ personalities, the men will be more likely to settle down. Both Prad and Vinesh are/were holding out for women out of their league.
  4. I just binged the whole season. My thoughts: I don’t believe they are practicing safe sex at the waffle/sex parties. I believe that’s how the Lumon employee who was mysteriously pregnant ended up in the news. Her outie probably had no idea she went to a waffle party. Also, if Lumon is cloning people, I wonder if they take the babies of some of the permanent innie pregnant women and raise them in the testing room. So evil. There’s no way any of Mark’s team can be brought back into the office. At this point, the innies know more than the outies, so it makes sense for Lumon to leave them as outies on their own. As Mark’s crew tries to make sense of what happened, I think Helly is the lynchpin that will bring them together. Helena will see Mark’s picture at the gala in that photo exhibit they did of her innie and remember that Mark is the one who almost hit her with his car. I wonder if she will try to find him. The other innies have no recollection of each other, so they won’t have any starting point to try to find each other. Cobell did say that Helena wouldn’t be punished for the unsevering. I assumed Cobell was saying that Helena is protected from discipline as an Egan, but that the rest of them would be tortured. I am very worried about how that will turn out.
  5. I think she didn’t mention it to Christian because the HOH this week was a non-CO member. Plus, both nominees were non-CO members and competing on an even playing field. Mentioning the CO would have felt kind of shoehorned in since they weren’t in control this week. I was thinking about how the news that the public will vote to help give one houseguest a power this week is playing with the houseguests’ minds and making them wonder how they’re perceived. Maybe that’s why Tiffany and X had that beautiful talk - partly to reaffirm each other, but partly to let the public know that they don’t mean any harm to non-CO members. Also, I think the biggest c**** in the CO’s armor is that they didn’t give Derek F a person. Now both he and Azah believe Britini is their person and they’re wildly protective of her because they think she’s all they have. It knocked off the balance of the 6 and pits Azah and Big D against the rest of them because it seems like everyone else in the CO has a person that doesn’t get nominated every week.
  6. It’s almost as if CO isn’t actually “just an alliance based on race” and has to do with protecting people who are interested in dispelling negative portrayals of black houseguests and promoting black players to a win. Maybe people don’t know where the saying “invited to the cookout” comes from, but not all black people are invited to the cookout (which explains why they observed Hannah before they invited her). Know Your Meme. Also, people of other races can be invited to the cookout if they show themselves to be an ally to the cause. The CO was started because, with very little conversation, some of the black houseguests realized they had the same agenda - to get a regular black person to win big brother and to make the black community feel inspired by seeing someone like them do well on a show that tends to terrorize black houseguests. They widened out the membership because as they talked to each other they each realized they were wanting the same thing. To people who don’t know what that’s like, they’re just seeing all the black people only helping each other.
  7. So are some people trying to say that although the CO has the opportunity to change stereotypes, asssmble one of the most dominant alliances in BB history and have one of them win more money than any houseguest in BB history, they shouldn’t take this opportunity because… white people couldn’t do it and not be called racist… even though white alliances have been doing this for years? It doesn’t make logical sense. It’s basically saying they should ignore the people who would serve their best interests (the black hamsters) and team up with the type of people who typically beat them, thereby helping those people win…again. Wouldn’t that be what some of the people here call racist - because they’re choosing to give people a chance based on their race instead of just aligning with other underdogs that are obviously in the same position as them? The whole thing reminds me of this video. At all times while POC are fighting oppression, they have to think of the feelings of the fragile majority. I guess if they just smiled and ate while other people continued making alliances with whomever they wanted to, they could achieve the fine honor of being good non-racist people.
  8. This mimics the population in American society as a whole. Absolutely. Demographics are changing, but for right now, The American demo is majority white with the majority exercising inordinate power over minorities - hence white supremacy. Even though the US is diverse, there are many regions that are still largely majority white. Those regions make up a large part of BB viewing audience, hence, why BB tries to appease them. And those viewers are going to see a black alliance vote out white players and be incensed by the “racism” of it all, all while largely ignoring the inequality that goes on around them every day. It’s like, this is the hill people want to die on? Topic: I see the CO as a consequence of years of inequality. To me, it’s no different than if the women were to actually form a gender-based alliance and each attached themselves to a guy while one-by-one voting them out. I would find that fascinating and root for the women knowing that you don’t see that in society and we would probably never see that on BB again. I also know that even if CO wins, the same Barbie-looking usual houseguests are still going to be fan favorites and have the most Insta-followers and get the most endorsement deals, so this stream roll is not something I’m going to shed tears over. It was all fair. The black houseguests came in as a minority group. They were just smart enough to figure out that they needed each other to win. I’m still not even sure if a CO member will win! It’s exciting to me. YMMV, so I can also see how some would find this boring.
  9. Jokers has Derex and Claire in the top 2 fav houseguest spots. In fact, there are 3 non cookout members in the top 5, Sarah Beth being the other one. Yikes, help me out, I don’t remember the names from back then at all. How does this relate to the discussion? I assume it’s in the context of the 1 Survivor season where there were majority POC?
  10. I noticed that Julie said the viewers will have an opportunity to influence the game this week. It made me wonder if they’re going to do that thing where the public votes to give someone a power and that power will allow them to change nominees. I am a firm supporter of The Cookout, but I do believe TPTB know that their mostly white viewing audience is not going to like watching the POC steamroll through the house. I don’t think they’re going to let it happen. Which is absolutely unfair, when they let white alliances dominate the game for years because their affinities were unspoken. “Groups in the opposite direction” (which means white people in this discussion) have steamrolled for years on every single competition reality show in history except for that one time on Survivor where they broke up tribes by race. There’s several reasons for this. Most of the time the producers will select a majority white cast with a few POC sprinkled in and so there’s never really a chance for the POC to join forces and make up a majority with power. This mimics the power structure in American society as a whole. On top of that, white reality show competitors tend to automatically form alliances with people like them, so we would often see majority white alliances on shows like Big Brother. And when audiences would complain about it, the white cast would just say they didn’t notice the race of the people they aligned with; they simply aligned because they naturally felt comfortable together. It’s the privilege of the majority to not have to think about why they gravitate toward people like them; it just seems “natural.” Where as when you are a minority, you have to make efforts to look for and seek out people like you. And yeah, from here on out, houseguests are going to say they should get rid of the POC before they form an alliance and it’ll be the same paranoia that leads the men to scapegoat women cuz “womenz uhlliance”. Only dudebros tend to be able to form automatic alliances, and the other houseguests only stay quiet about it because they don’t want to make themselves a target.
  11. I don't know what the hell was going on with it either... for example I rewound it to see that the green team (and now I've forgotten what team it was...) switched out people when it was 7.6 seconds left and they CLEARLY did NOT hit their button. The time kept running while the next person took their place solving. We never saw their clock again but it was obvious they should have been out. There was also no feedback from people hitting the button. No lights, no sound. Great job challenge builders! See, I actually thought that was really smart. The rules stated that you just had to hit your buzzer before your 25 seconds ran out. So people were running back when they had about seven seconds left and standing by the buzzer but not hitting it until the timer hit about 1-2 seconds. Their partner would run in; thereby giving their partner more time to work within their 25 seconds. If a team keeps hitting their buzzer early, they are excessively rotating people, which is a waste of time. Those few seconds they bought by allowing the clock to run down were actually helpful. I agree there could have been a noise when people hit the button though.
  12. I was waiting for Jake and Hailey’s segment and they did not disappoint! They are both immature and emotionally delayed. Absolutely nobody: Jacob: I’ll take a polygraph test! Hailey: Me too! Strap me up! Just ridiculous. But I realized this time that both Hailey and Jake were trying. Their love languages are so different, they didn’t even realize the other person was trying. Hailey clearly has a love language that revolves around interaction - acts of service and probably some words of affirmation in there. That’s why she kept planning all those sports dates and talking about her trips and things. Jakes language is physical touch. When Kevin asked Jake why he didn’t try to romance Hailey, Jake replied, “she wouldn’t let me!” As in, she wouldn’t let him romantically touch her. He keeps thinking Hailey’s not trying because the physical aspects not there, but Hailey was trying - just in her love language. Pretty much they both suck, but I do think Hailey at least went outside of her comfort zone to try more. Jacob’s outfit made me laugh so hard. It was like he was saying screw you to all his haters. It was right out of a “How to Dress Fashionably Gen Z” with the ripped skinny jeans. He had on his tux jacket from the wedding. And because everyone was saying he doesn’t own sneakers, he wore some bright red tennis shoes! Suck on that haterzzz. (It came off more like sad grampa though.)
  13. Yes, they had definitely aired some of the episodes before they filmed this reunion because the couples reference watching episodes and learning from seeing themselves. Virginia said she realized she says, “I like to party” way more than she actually parties. (Cough: Lies.) And Erik said that he realized that he came off domineering. For instance, he said the male friends conversation made him cringe. Also when Erik’s mom comes out they talk about the scene where Virginia says that she’s 50-50 on having kids. There are similar conversation with Vinny on his tantrums and Chris saying he saw his pastor comparing Mercedes to Paige on TV and he didn’t like it. Also, Erik kept joking saying, “for sure” at the end of his sentences and laughing, which was his little call back to Ryan on the show. On what Hailey said about the dreaded first four days, US Weekly has the quote. It doesn’t seem bad to me:
  14. Best case scenario: Part II starts with Pastor S Curl beating the crap out of Chris in the parking lot. Here’s and unpopular opinion, I kinda like Paige - Something about the lopsided wigs, they shiny t-zone in need of blotting sheets and the awkward fashions. I just want to mother her and feed her pound cake and shake my head to her bad dating decisions. Girlfriend is a full on mess and it can’t be fixed. But when she’s through being a doormat, she is going to be the devil in an ill-fitted blue dress. All kinds of men will pay for her past mistreatments - It’s gonna be legendary! I never say this, but I think Ryan is gay. All the controlled and controlling behaviors remind me so much of Bachelor Colton before he admitted he was gay. He’s trying to paint some perfect picture of what heterosexual wedded bliss is. It wouldn’t be this difficult and tense if it was natural. Recommitment ceremony when you never say I love you? Yeah, ok. Correction on the Hailey interview. She was very careful to NOT say Jacob was bad in bed. Kevin Fraiser kept asking her and she said, “It’s best if I say nothing.” Kevin said he needed to know and she said, “There was no physical connection.” Granted she did giggle throughout that exchange, but I’ll allow it Your Honor. She had a rough season. What always strikes whenever the group starts talking about Jake is that no one likes him. As soon as Kevin started asking Hailey about him, the other women started dogging him and saying they were opposites and there was no way they could be a match. The other husbands don’t seem to like Jake either. Also. When Kevin asked Hailey if she’s talked to Jake since filming, she said she can’t because Jake blocked her on all social media. They both seem immature, but look like the old couple of the season. I can’t wait for their segment.
  15. The scene at the beginning shows that Camila is a “wind beneath my wings” type of supporter. In fact, Charles starts out the joke by saying, “I can’t tell this joke without her.” Charles gets all of the glory for the amusement and Camila is skilled at propping him up. Plus she’s neither overly pretty or charming so she doesn’t take the shine away from him. Di is the opposite of this. That is not an insult to her. Whenever Charles told a joke with Diana there, his jokes fell flat. Because she’s pretty and more visually interesting, people’s attention just shifts to her. And his jokes suck, sorry, no charm at all, come on. But to Charles’ credit, he spent part of his speeches talking about how great his wife was: “luckiest man alive” was the catchphrase. Maybe someone told him to say that, but he was doing his part to show her admiration. When he was gushing about her at the last event and she made a face, probably instinctively, it undercut what he was saying. She could have blown a kiss to him or shouted something lovingly cheesy and the audience would have said awww, but she’s not the wind beneath my wings type. She does tend to think of herself first, which is natural. It doesn’t work for the positions she has been hired to fill though. Her whole point is to lift up the crown. If that means every time someone asks her about herself she finds a way to include talking about the future king, that’s what she is expected to do. Charles is flawed, but his flaws are so common to men. He is under a microscope constantly so he gets picked apart for his human failings. But least we forget all the hoops Elizabeth jumped through to make Philip feel like he was admired in the beginning of their journey as royals and he wasn’t even the crown! I imagine this happens to a lot of men with pretty, intelligent, talented, charismatic, breathing (I could go on) wives. Some husbands have a minute/years of ego bruising.
  16. Lol. I feel like once the episode is posted on YouTube, viewers will see it. It’s a pointy nose people! The Unfiltered YouTube usually posts the episodes on Mondays, but it’s not there yet. That’s ok, I’ve got time. 😂 In the meantime, here’s a picture from Reality TV World blog.
  17. Yes! Thank you. You can see in the left picture that her nose is pointy-er. Not as round as the original. She is also facing up in the left pic, so you can see up her nostrils a bit. But if she was faced the same way as the other picture, you could see the difference more. My verdict: Possibly just fillers in the bridge of her nose though, not a full nose job. Also, I loved her makeup and dress. It’s like Karen came dressed to the nines for one of the Unfiltereds and now all the ladies stepped it up a bit.
  18. Yes, her nose is definitely different. Ugh, I wish I hadn’t deleted the Unfiltered episode, but here is a picture of what Amani normally looks like, even with her hair pulled back. You can see her nostrils and you can see the piercing stud inside her nose. On Unfiltered it was nothing like that. It’s possible she had a temporary nose job where they put Juvederm in your bridge to make your nose appear narrower. If it was during lockdown, I guess that’s what it was, but that procedure doesn’t normally change your nostrils. I don’t know when these episodes are filmed. Eh, eventually someone will put the episode on Youtube and I’ll be able to side-by-side the photos and give my diagnosis and expert opinion, lol.
  19. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get a spin off show where Amelia is a new doctor and Olivia’s the nurse that attends? Kind of like a buddy cop show but with doctors. Actually, I came here to talk about the fact that Amani got a nose job, as evidenced by her appearance on Unfiltered, but no one here is talking about it. (Crosses arms and pouts.) I thought it looked nice. When Miles apologized for the 14th time about a small thing that Karen blew up about, Karen made a face like she was searching for the next way to aggregate him and was drawing a blank. I think she is slowly running out of ways to test Miles, which I’m curious to see what happens then. And Miles is definitely on a mission to wear her down. He’s not being honest with her about how frustrated he is. I wish real experts would help them. Their communication style is toxic. Now she’s introducing tantric massages that are going to make Miles more frustrated and lead to 50-11 more ways Karen’s actions will be misinterpreted... which is exactly what Karen wants. Henry and Christina used to be my favorite for the train wreck action, but now they’ve just settled into wreckage that can’t be salvaged. Can someone please put them out of their misery!?
  20. I loved that when the three lampshade wearing bridesmaids asked Bennett their quirky questions, he neither gave them the satisfaction of focusing on their odd getup nor stumbled over answering. He acted like they were sitting around wearing jeggings asking what his fav color is. See ladies, Bennett is quirky, but he’s mature. (((Lesson))) No comment on his crotch itch confession. I would like to have a question and answer forum with Bennett and his mom. I really want to explore the reasoning behind apologizing to inanimate objects. Why? Is it putting good vibes into the universe? Is it a self awareness exercise? Make it make sense O Wise Wierd Ones. My fav couple by far is Henry and what’s her name. (See what I did there Xtina!?) People keep saying he should have been matched with Olivia, but absolutely not, no. He keeps value signaling what is important to him and it’s looks, appearance and perception. When the producers asked what he was hoping for in regards to his wife, he said, “I hope she has good hair and shoes.” Plus the fact that he totes around skanky ex-girlfriend and Trashelle is his way of letting the world know he can pull hot women. What other reason would a man put up with those shrews? Olivia would have been dismissed in his mind in seconds. This man is not looking for a nice girl. I find his relationship with his Dad endearing. You can tell his Dad adores him and thinks he’s the jewel of his creation. I more felt bad for the other sibling when the Dad announced the other brother was a slob like him. There were only 2 times that Henry showed a genuine reaction without thinking first and that’s when he threw his napkin over his face as his Dad’s speech went off the rails and when the shrews told him to stop eating and listen to his wife and he said exasperatedly, “I am listening!” Other than that he held back his emotions and thoughts. I think he likes/needs people who challenge him. If Christina brings the diva to the fore, I think he would actually embrace it. Both of them are heavy image conscious too. She wants a marriage like on TV and he wants to look like a perfect normal couple. Ain’t gonna happen but they can try. I also want to know just how tall Christina is. Trishelle is tall and, in her heels, Christina was taller than Trishelle. Basically Christina is the opposite of petite.
  21. Aww, I saw the preview for Amelia and Bennet’s first dance and Can’t wait to see what happens.
  22. I think Karen is correct in saying she got a text that she wasn’t supposed to get. The grey area is that she said, “I think I got a text I wasn’t supposed to” instead of “I know I got a text I wasn’t supposed to.” She knew when she got the text from her friend that she wasn’t supposed to look Miles up. Hey, I would have done the same thing though. And if I were her friend I totally would have forwarded her the text. In my head, the result would be us laughing and tee-heeing happily as we looked at his Insta. But yeah, the reality is probably more likely to be tears, anxiety and buyer’s remorse. I mean, look at these guys MAFS selects. 😞 You know normally I go really easy on the poor Production Assistants who work on these shows, but in this case, whoever sent the groomsmen’s dressing room assignments to the bridesmaids needs to be fired. It’s just, c’mon PA! You had one job!
  23. I wonder if it’s like other seasons where production has them all living in the same apartment complex. Since they got stuck in shelter in place while filming, maybe they just ended up staying there. They could’ve still filmed from their own apartment in the complex though so I don’t know. Also for people who keep asking how to see Unfiltered, it comes on 30 mins before the newest MAFS episode. You can set your DVR to record both. FYI, fast forward is your friend. Too much replaying of clips you already saw. I was looking at the Bennet/Amelia wedding pictures. Yea, his face says it all. Underneath Bennet’s quirkiness is a genuineness and groundedness that Amelia doesn’t have. I bet he thinks her quirkiness is obnoxious... cuz it is. But, I guess men who live in pretentious tiny houses should not throw stones, eh Ben! During the Karen/Miles wedding, Karen was doing that thing where you mentally leave your body and pretend you’re not really there. Poor thing. You could look at her eyes and see that no one was home. When she got to that part in the vows where she broke down crying, she was thinking about something or someone else. The whole look on her face was pure regret. I wonder if she was supposed to marry the two-timing baby-maker ex-boyfriend. I'm so worried that they saved the Henry/Christina wedding for last because it’s going to be a doozy. Their wedding pictures don’t look that bad though. If she is the villain and he’s the doormat, his girlfriend-friend-of-the- friendzone-friendship will definitely put Christina in her place. I hope to see it.
  24. Derek seems to be treating his marriage like he treats all his other (failed) relationships. He said himself that he’s good at the dating stage, he just sucks at being committed or letting himself fall in love. He acts charming and smitten like his girlfriend is the only woman in the world. Then when the girlfriend is invested and tells him she’s in love, he begins his withdrawal. That’s why he keeps boasting that he’s never been in love. He likes all the goofy, lovey dovey stuff, he just doesn’t want to be serious. It’s sad to me that Katie keeps saying that Derek doesn’t have game. She’s not getting it. Derek’s game is just undercover which is more dangerous than those guys who approach you with the hair gel and the obviously cheesy lines. He is the only one who during the honeymoon thought up the rose petals and strawberries to surprise his wife. All the other men just followed his lead because they never would have thought of that themselves. Guys who do those kind of “romantic” things have usually done them before and they just keep doing them because they realized that it worked. I bet you all Derek’s ex-girlfriends say he was the most romantic, attentive, and affectionate boyfriend... until he got what he wanted and checked out. Plus Derek is highly attractive. He’s getting plenty of attention from women; he’s not going to see a need to settle down for awhile. I think he and Zach are two sides of the same coin. Derek is just more smooth about it.
  25. Oooh, I sought out this movie because it’s one of the classics and I wanna give my take as well. Can I just say the movie doesn’t age well because Hubbell’s tease flirting with Katie while they’re in college would’ve sparked a MeToo movement and Katie’s drunk sex with Hubbell would be considered date rape? (Seriously, how creepy was that?) But about their marriage, I thought the major theme was that love is not enough. Katie and Hubbell will always love each other, but once their idealism faded away, they went back to what was expected of them because it was easy. I also thought Barbara Streisand’s comment about Redford’s new wife was a dig even though she sincerely meant it. All Hubbell wanted was a wife that was “lovely” that people would envy him for. He didn’t even seem to like his new wife that much. He went back to making eyes at Kate... buuuut he was still going to stay with his new wife because it was what people expected of him and it made his life easy.
