  1. I apologize as I'm really late to the party but I only got around to watch the finale today. I love Matty, his sense of humour is great, he's cute and he's a super nice person, but I honestly think Josh deserved to win.

While Paul and Prue were judging his cake it felt like someone had told them to be as critical as they could because Matty was the designated winner and that wouldn't be plausible if they praised Josh's cake too much, as he had vastly outdone Matty in both previous challenges on the episode. I understand "it all comes down to the flavour", but then they should've applied this rule also to the other challenges, where they complimented Josh several times for his flavours over Matty.

I don't like this mechanism that I see in many reality/competition shows where you're only as good as your last challenge, while everything you've done through the entire season is not taken into consideration in the least.

Oh well, it was still a good season and I'll watch anything Noel Fielding is in, so I I guess I can't complain.

I'm kind of surprised Trey and Leann fell for it. They've been smarter than this.

But honestly, I'm happy they did, because since she voted to eliminate Lorenzo she has become my number one least favorite person in there. Plus, she was an editor at the New York Times! She doesn't need the money! And she sounds like a bit of a Karen.

I'm tired of thin, young, fashion queens, but I'll make an exception for Starlet. Those looks: what. I never thought I'd see the First Barbie, ca. 1959, on Drag Race, but she did it impeccably (minus the swimsuit) on the runway.

That's exactly what I thought, too! Identical! Also, Ru wasn't wrong when she said her entrance look was one of the best to ever grace the show, because it was truly stunning, so elegant and refined. She's a very peculiar queen, so quiet and soft spoken in the talking heads, and that accent is to die for! I'm excited to see what else she has to bring.

So far I'm loving this season, all the queens are very interesting and I like everyone. I would've probably given the win to Starlet, but that's fine. Dakota's lip sync was amazing and I'm willing to bet she won't go home soon.

  4. I am shocked that Bombae went home. She had the best commercial (the "taxi driver" and "go back home" shades hahahahaa) and her look on the runway was really something you would see in a Valentino fashion show, no kidding.

I'm sorry but it seems to me these judges keep judging by politics and not by actual performance, because what shocked me even more than Bombae being eliminated was the ridiculous praise Jada got, once again. She's a sweet girl but her commercial was not so great, her dress compared to the others - except Kimmy - was meh, and her make-up (in a make-up challenge!) was truly, truly awful. Yet, she received the highest praises from almost everyone where others would have been heavily criticized, at least for that make-up.

I understand the importance of the message she wants to send, but at this point it seems like it's all she's got. (Apart from the fact that Bombae, too, was celebrating her culture with a much funnier ad and a waaaaay better dress and instead ended up in the bottom).

What was brave about her performance?

Not so much about her performance as about her choice of a character. Anyway, maybe I used the wrong word, I just meant it was courageous of her to bring someone from the 19th century about whom we don't know much personality-wise and whose antics are pretty much a mystery to everyone — not to mention the fact that Brooke Lynn (who by the way made my heart skip a beat when he said he didn't know who Marie Curie was) strongly suggested she went with Celine Dion instead and Giséle still stuck to her choice where many others would have followed the show host's advice and changed characters. I don't know, I just thought it was a bold and unique choice, that's all.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I just checked and this was only the second time ever someone portrayed a character from the 19th century in the Snatch Game, the first one being Symone's Harriet Tubman in season 14. The only other "historical" characters featured before on the show were Mary Queen of Scots (Rosé - season 13) and William Shakespeare (Lady Camden - season 14), so Marie Curie was definitely not a popular choice!

  6. Can someone explain to me how Jada was safe? She was non-existent in the Snatch Game and her Periodic Table outfit was basically an encrusted pink cylinder. I feel that for some reason she's above judgement.

I think Gisèle's Marie Curie was one of the best snatch game performances I've ever seen in all editions of Drag Race. So creative and brave. She is by far my favorite at this point, followed by Vivian and Irma Gerd. To be honest I also like Fierce because at least she's not fake, although I doubt she has any chances of winning this thing.

  7. Minnie really needs to take a chill pill. Pomara wasn't laughing at her disability, she only remarked (after Minnie made a bigger deal of her dyslexia than Yvie Oddly of her Ehlers-Danlos or Willow Pill of her genetic disorder) how often they had already had to hear the story. I don't want to offend anyone, but Minnie could've gone about it a different way instead of yelling "someone read out loud to me! I am dyslexic!" and announcing it every chance she got. And the way she lashed at Pomara afterwards, demanding a totally unnecessary apology! Wow.

Well, I agree this is not a very likeable group, but so far Spankie seems to be the most fun and drama-free, so she's my favorite.

  8. I was surprised when almost all the queens named Jada as the one they would eliminate, for some reason I thought she was more popular than Kaos. From what we could see, Jada did well in the mini-challenge (although I think they edited it to that purpose) but her outfit was an eyesore and her victory last week was completely undeserved, so I wish the judges had listened to the other queens and sent her packing instead of Kaos.

At this point I really have no idea who could go next, but I'm tired of production keeping on queens for drama (I'm talking to you, Fiercalicious, Kimme and at this point Jada) instead of talent.

So this kind of confused me so they shoot multiple endings to this thing to? And neither girl knew till it streamed who actually won? That’s crazy I guess the fan vote does actually come into play

Apparently yes, they shoot multiple endings where they crown all the top queens (in this case only Jinkx and Monet), or at least that's what I had heard from previous seasons, so the queens find out who won at the same time we do. I guess it's the safest way to avoid spoilers!

Fiercealicious is really adding nothing to the content of the show beyond a certain petty, bitchy drama, so of course they kept her over Chelazon, who added texture and depth to the season with her Werkroom conversation with Kaos.

I was raised outside of Toronto, and love the city, but I now live in northern Alberta and want to hear about the drag scene in Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, and what's it like to work in one-bar cities, and not about stupid rivalry between shrill twentysomethings in Toronto. Enough!

And can Brooke Lynn try to mimic emotions as she sends the queens packing? She literally sent off Chelazon in the same voice that she'd order a Teen Burger. Can't she take a pill for that?

Couldn't agree more. I get it that Chelazon's performance was not breathtaking, but I loved listening to her and Kaos talking about First Nation and their identities and struggles. It was something new and refreshing on Drag Race and I really would've loved to learn more on the topic. I understand that everyone has to go at some point, but even if only for the sake of the new point of view that was being offered, I feel Chelazon should've stayed on a bit longer.

I love Jada but I think giving her the win was a bit too much, considering her performance was just okay and her runway look was very underwhelming compared to the others (see Vivian, Gisele and Bombae who, poor thing, was truly dealt a bad hand with Fiercealicious in the challenge).

I still don't like Brooke Lynn but at least she made that reference to my favorite Kristen Wiig character in SNL, Dooneese! (Judice? Junice? No one ever knew)

  11. It went how it had to go. No matter which way we got there, I'm very happy with the outcome. I think winning the She Had Already Done Had Herses title was the equivalent to coming in second place in the main competition, and I am euphoric Raja got the crown and the prize. If that was Ru's plan all along, then that's great, although at this point I can't see the reason for last week's shenanigans that put Shea in the top group, pissed everyone off and made Shea look like an incompetent teacher's pet.

Since I loved this season so much, I hope in the future they'll do one with all the most iconic (and not necessarily winners) queens, even as a sort of "where are they now".

Right? And one person picks the final member (gee, who will twinner Monet choose?) AND a 3 star challenge - rendering most of the season pointless. (...)

Excellent season but this episode was an eye-roller for sure.

I completely agree. I feel like I've just watched what at this point is one of the most unfair episodes in Drag Race history. But I voiced my fears about Shea getting to the finale last week, and I evidently manifested them. There's nothing to add to what some of you already said, except that if I was Shea, I wouldn't be so proud of getting into the finale like this. I'm speechless. My beloved Raja was robbed!!

If the idea was from the beginning to have all eight queens make it to the finale, why have Legendary Legend stars in the first place? Especially when in the end they didn't matter one bit. Just give a cash tip reward to the winner of each episode and then have them all lipsync against each other in one big final Rulapalooza! It would make more sense.

While Shea's performance was excellent, Jinkx and Monet were my favourites in this episode. Both felt organic and natural, while Shea and (especially) Viv felt overproduced and canned. I'd be very curious to find out if anyone sang live; my money for that would be on Jinkx alone, as everyone else sounded a bit too polished.

I can't know for sure but it seemed to me that Monet sang live, too.

  13. I didn't hate the awards ceremony, but I feel like the judges are still watching another show. Kimmy Couture came across as super mean and uncooperative while they were preparing the challenge (and also in some talking heads, tbh) but was funny during the presentation. Now, how she won the challenge with that cardboard-pieces-glued-on-a-bikini dress of a goddess that doesn't even exist (you googled "the sun"??) is and will remain a true mystery for me.

My favorites so far are Lady Boom Boom, Chelazon and Giselle. Also, I would've preferred if Vivian Vanderpuss had left instead of Moço. But that's okay, I like her and all, but I don't think she's here to stay.

  14. I also finally got around to watch the premiere and the judges really want to make me go no further. How was Halal in the bottom three and Chelazon wasn't? And how was Jada with her glued on ensemble in the top three and Bombae wasn't?!

Feels like the judges and I watched two different episodes. I'm very sorry Halal is gone, he seemed so kind and I'd have liked to see more.

Also I agree that, like davidcalgary29 said, they want to keep Fiercealicious for the drama, but then again, how is that fair?

  15. It appears quite obvious at this point that Jinkx is going to win the season, and deservedly so.

I have also heard the rumors about Shea being…well, Shea…and throwing a bit of a fit over her lack of stars.  I’m sure she’ll make the finale, just because.  As long as she doesn’t win, I don’t guess I care.

Well if Shea does make the finale it would be quite ridiculous so I hope she doesn't. I was afraid they were going to give her a star this episode just to make the race more exciting (for whom, I do not know) but thank the universe they didn't.

So at this point, IIRC, Jinkx has 4 stars and already qualified for the finale, Trinity and Jaida have 3 stars, everyone else has 2 and Shea has 1. Did they say (and I missed it) what they're going to do in case of a tie (which is inevitable at this point)? I would be happy with Jinkx, Raja, Trinity and Jaida as the four finalists. I love Raja just the teensiest bit less than Jinkx, and I thought she should've been in the top two this week because her roast was hilarious. Her delivery is impeccable and I'll never grow tired of saying how gorgeous she is.

  16. Jinkx's runway reveal looks were AMAZING, best  I've ever seen on the show, and to match every famous art piece with a dress style from the same period was genius. I adore her and everyone else on the show seem to feel the same way, so I don't want to jinx it (I know, I know) but I'm faaaairly sure victory shall be hers.

Didn't care much for Monet's video or runway, but it was pretty predictable she was going to win tonight otherwise she and Shea would be out of the picture already. I think Jaida and Jinkx should have been top two this week, Jaida's seasons concept for the reveals was great and I loved her video, too.

This was actually one of my favourite acting challenges for Jinkx -- the part was terrible, as were all of the "Mean Girls" -- and what else could she have done with it? All of her character choices and vocalizations for the role were pretty amazing. I think that the editors agreed, as well, because she got an awful lot of screentime in the final edit for a performance that wasn't even cited to be in the top four. She even got the final scene! I think that she wasn't placed in the top because production wanted the Viv to win and block her again.

I absolutely agree. One might think the girls are plotting and scheming with this plunger twist, but really it's just Ru manoeuvring from behind the scenes. In the end, since everyone is getting positive critiques (which I'm also not really on board with, because one, the queens are not all great, all the time, and two, what about the other seasons? I've seen bad looks here being praised 10 times more than some fantastic outfits that were completely crushed by the judges on other seasons), Ru is entirely free to choose who to put in the top two according to who she thinks is going to block who(m?) and hinder their chances at a final win.

Apart from that, I just wanted to say Raja might be the most beautiful person I've ever seen in my life. She is stunning! But yeah, Jinkx is one cut above the rest and I also enjoyed Trinity's and, surprisingly as she's not among my favorites usually, Monet's performances in the challenge. She has excellent comedic timing.

  18. I just think it was wonderful that Willow won, predetermined or not as it was. She was inspiring for so many people with real disabilities and I loved how she didn't make her illness all there was to her. She was so clever and random, I just adored her, plus she was a model of kindness and humbleness so in my eyes she's the perfect queen.

I know I'm in the absolute minority here but if I had to choose, I would've put Angeria in the finale with Willow. Lady Camden was lovely and all but IMO not as funny as Willow and Angeria. She also kinda botched her performance, it looked like she was throwing limbs in the air randomly, and she couldn't really dance that well in high heels.

In the Media thread I posted a People Magazine interview with Willow. It said that Willow’s sister passed away from complications of the same disease Willow has just a few months after the show was filmed. I wonder if that’s the sister who was at the finale.

It wasn't her for sure, it was the sister whose picture they showed on one of the episodes when Willow was talking about her disease, she looked a lot like her. I imagine it would be such a painful loss so even more kudos to Willow for pulling through, I'm sure she did it for her sister, too.

I don't think the queens have much input into the songs they're given. Back in season 8, Bob insisted on a "purse first" song - but my guess is that if they aren't adamant about a certain theme, they're assigned one. (I can't imagine that Willow asked for an "I hate people" song.)

Yeah? I think that's exactly the kind of song Willow would request/co-write, as it's something she would absolutely (jokingly, I guess?) say.

  19. I like Bosco, and I didn't think she did that bad in Moulin Ru last week, so I was glad she got the golden ticket (as scripted as it was, because come on, what were the odds someone who didn't deserve to go home had it) and this week she truly was the best, both in the challenge and for sure on the runway. Most of the other girls' outfits didn't even look like tutus!

As much as I find Jorgeous cute and funny in the talking heads, her presence on the show had really become unjustifiable at this point, and I think she knew. Deja had also realized it was her time to go, like someone else said, and was at peace with going home. They both left in a very cool and dignified way.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I do hope Bosco wins (maybe because she hails from my favorite city of Seattle) although I think Willow will take the crown home (which I would be super happy with, too). I just hope it's not Camden. I love her and all, but she was never extraordinary in any of the challenges, IMO.

Didn't realize Ozzy was a fan of DR but I pictured him seeing Daya as him and throwing something at his TV with disgust.

Still cheering for Willow, Camden or Angeria FTW.

If it hadn't been for Cotton Eye Joe the name tag, I wouldn't have realized it was Ozzy, period. He sounded Australian ("Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, oi! oi! oi!" Really?) and had none of the mannerisms of Ozzy Osbourne. Even his clothes were off. I'm sure the real Ozzy's reaction to seeing that would be very close to the one you imagined. Daya just did an awful, awful job. She really has to go, she is not talented and she's so mean it's hard to watch.

I thought Tammie Brown, Ilana Glazer and Betsy DeVos were pretty strange choices for Snatch Game. Bosco's jokes as Gwyneth Paltrow might not have landed, but she got the general impression down to a T. She really looked like her! Bosco, Willow and Angeria are definitely my top three.

I also don't mind Jasmine as a person, it seems to me she's taking all the (unjustified, IMO) criticism pretty well, so kudos to her for that.

Fyi: Kraftwerk chose that red and black look on purpose as a reference to nazis. It is not a coincidence people are feeling a hitler influence. The band themselves were making a statement in their clothing choice which Noel and Matt imitated.

Ha, that's interesting. Where did you get this from? I'm honestly asking because I thought they mostly drew on German expressionism, but I might be wrong.

There's this very nice article about them and their inspirations: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/feb/27/kraftwerk-by-uwe-schutte-review

All I wanted to say is that It's fine if you don't find some comedians funny, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I love Noel and Matt (and Kraftwerk) so I recognized that specific reference immediately, but there are so many others that I don't get!
