  1. I loved it despite the questionable Rihanna acting, and I can't believe I saw the twist coming- I'm usually so unobservant! (as soon as Marion started smashing the car up I thought "...if Sam can't sleep in his car when his wife throws him out I wonder if he'll end up staying at the motel....hey, does that mean he'll be the one...?" ) The scene where Norman is hugging Mother in the kitchen and it cuts to him leaning on thin air amongst the mess and talking to no-one was one of the creepiest and saddest in the series to me, it's easy to forget he's really very alone and very ill when he's sparring with 'Norma', and that quick cut to an empty shot was a bit of a jolt. Freddie Highmore is such a joy to watch (especially in closeup eye-acting scenes) I hope he gets lots of work after this.
  2. Heh I love the repetition of the "never get out of the boat!" quote they've sometimes used from that (am I misremembering or did 10K do a slow emerge from the water in the style of cpt Willard in one recent episode?) they're obviously fans!
  3. I loved the big hair at the party- and Barbara enthusing about the white hot heat of being with Jim Gordon, Gotham's least charismatic man, was fun. And the green Vertigo lighting in the dress-up reveal was very obvious so I had hopes for a big evil con being played out (I admit, being a romantic I was so hoping that Penguin/Nygma would have a mutual attraction relationship built on trust/shared evil goals- as the show seemed to be hinting towards that initially a few episodes ago- but failing that, that Nygma was being played by nu-Kringle and that would unite them against her. If it turns out she's genuine and Penguin killed her I have no hope for them being together, sigh. There has to be a twist or it's all very unsatisfying! I don't think she's dead- or if she is, another Kringle-alike will appear, to Penguin's great chargrin)

I want to see this scientific curiosity too, it's interesting even if it fails- I really appreciated the governor's guy doing experiments. CDB now seem stunningly uninterested in finding things out (it always makes me laugh remembering the prison when the pigs got sick and Rick was all "oh well, I guess we'll never know what's wrong with them"- if only they'd had a vet there who could scientifically diagnose such things, heh)
  5. God yes- I'd like to see them wondering what the rest of the WORLD is like once in a while too, it's like the show focuses on the micro picture, where a small remark/bit of throwaway theorising occasionally would give a real sense of world building and an intruiging tease of a bigger picture (I guess we're still supposed to have erased all memory of the CDC visit, right? ;) ETA- I agree with the posts about not feeling the emotional connection with Maggie's grief, I'm one of those who ended up surprised at really liking FTWD's last season & think those writers are much better at dialogue, especially dialogue for emotional scenes (I'm sure lots disagree!)
  6. I felt exactly the same- I love horror films and gore doesn't usually bother me, but dragging out Glen's death and having him trying to talk with a catastrophic head injury was far too much for me, I had to look away, not something I've had to do with twd before, too grim!
  7. Heh, I saw a video on youtube where someone jokingly posits that CDB keep getting taken unawares by zombie attacks (when they really shouldn't by now) because they keep discharging weapons/explosives near their ears and have damaged their hearing- it actually makes too much sense to be a plot point on twd though!
  8. True, true- I'd just wish they'd have developed a policy by now so we don't retread the very same debate every time they meet someone new and the writers could get get their teeth (heh) into some new moral issues instead of this kind of Randall 2.0 situation. Though if I were Rick, having been through Terminus and the wolves recently if I saw someone who looked like a hipster AND kept his forehead covered I'd be 'fuck, no!'-ing my way out if there back to my children
  9. God yes- this 'moral quandary' has been milked for YEARS with characters switching sides as suits, I can't believe they're still rehashing it. Also whoever posted the Big Lebowski video, yes! Every time Jesus outwitted them I thought "don't fuck with the Jesus!"
  10. Ooh is that the 'wendigo' concept? I may be wrong- all my knowledge about the addiction to cannibalism comes from the excellent film 'Ravenous' (can't recommend that film highly enough!) Yes to the whole fear of disease from ingesting human meat being a primary concern- the BSE crisis here was scary enough (and-OT, sorry- I'm pretty sure we uk people still aren't allowed to donate blood abroad because of it,so yeh- scary!)
  11. All this talk of zombies and balloons reminded me to go and rewatch this lovely short film- posting here in case anyone's interested:
  12. Me too! I also forget why there's such a fandom fuss around Daryl until I go back & rewatch those first couple of series- he was such an attractively beguiling mixture of vulnerability and competence. I don't know anything about behind the scenes decisions but it's odd how much of what made him such an interesting character then (a good person without always necessarily being a nice person for eg) just isn't there now. Plus as mentioned his hair looks bloody stupid!
  13. Thirding!(Also I accidentally referred to him as FPP in casual conversation yesterday, I actually can't remember the character's real name now, oops!)
  14. I'm probably going to go out on an (unpopular?) limb here and opine that I think the person Rick's had the best chemistry with so far was Shane, and if the writers had decided to resolve the Shane/Lori/Rick 'love triangle' in that direction... well actually people's heads would probably have exploded so it's just as well this isn't HBO ;) but loving or hating each other I thought those two had some real spark
  15. Daryl telling them he's from a civilised safe settlement which is just like the world used to be, all whilst looking like he's been living up a tree for 6 months made me laugh. I honestly think it would've gone totally differently if he'd had that bath!
