  1. absnow 54" The show has done a disservice in portraying both relationships, in my opinion, which is making it hard for me to understand her final choice in the show universe." I think this is the intersection where we agree. The producer for whatever reason has decided to go all out on focusing on her absolute devotion to Frank. I just see Frank and Claire as a rocky couple who are trying too hard reconnect. The TV show emphasis Frank all the friggin time- to the point where the romance (yes this is-even though they keep denying it) has almost disappeared and you could question why she's not escaping at every moment. When I think of Jamie and Claire I think of a line from the movie Orlando, “perhaps for love.” Anyway absnow54, nodorothyparker, glazecrazy, lianu et al I agree with all yr posts. How did that happen ;)
  2. BooBear "It probably will because they hired an actor who is too big for the role of Frank. Typically a fatal flaw of show producers. I am sure they thought that TM would be great for BJR and want to give him more work. But it doesn't really work because if Frank is a pretty decent interesting guy, why would Claire want to stay in the past? "
  3. This show is rapidly becoming all about Frank and I don't give a flying fig about Frank or what he's going through- at least to extent that his storyline took up more than half the show. I personally never liked Frank and Claire as a couple. I found Frank to have more chemistry with the B&B owner (forgot her name) and Rev. Wakefield . My own personal view is that Claire didn't try very hard to escape from 1743 is because things weren't so great between her and Frank. My own take on Claire was that she was into Jamie from the beginning and had difficult time admitting it. Frank loved her but I don't ever he really got Claire the way Jamie does. I am also tired of them focusing on Frank and how Claire has to get be back because she loves him so much. I'm fine with Claire desperate to get back to 1945 for things like indoor plumbing and antibiotics. Plus she's getting nearly raped every five seconds. My fear is that Outlander will devolve into, " The journey of Frank: dealing with the loss a wife he kind of loved but didn't understand."
  4. Bluebonnet Not unpopular to me . I'll take Murtagh over Jamie anyday. I find Murtagh sexy and I posted in another thread that he needs his own show-I wasn't kidding. I hope we see more of the character. My own unpopular opinion regarding Jamie- is I hated the way he looked in his wedding outfit. I thought he looked pirate from a 1980's metal video. I kept waiting for him say argh, hoist the sails mateys .He was dressed perfect for talk like a pirate day.
  5. hell yeah. Also Murtagh needs his own show. Maybe webisodes.
  6. Yes! I love this series. This is great news. I subscribed to Acorntv just to see it.
  7. I'm sad to see the show go out this way -stuffed with filler and flashbacks. I barely watched this episode or the previous one and have no intention of re-watching either of them later. What I will miss are the forums, boards and live chats -"the community," that grew around the show. This is a great forum and will miss everyone posting. I won't say goodbye yet but -only three episodes left? The goodbyes are coming sooner than I'd like.
  8. Well I guess I can at least be prepared for how awful the last handful of episodes will be.
  9. When there is no one to say no- we get Charles Manson jokes and they weren't funny 40 years ago. Nor was the don't talk to the neighbors schtick-Greg Poehler is playing a well-educated-highly paid New Yorker-at no time during this ep. was his aww shucks Mayberry routine believable. At no time did I think this couple were in jeopardy over immigration. Part of the storyline is that he snagged his Swedish babe is his high level career. I was taken out of the story by trying to figure out why a couple of well off professionals- in a large multi-million dollar apartment- are afraid of immigration. As much as I love this show- the series weaknesses were really in forefront. I think that nepotism is doing a great deal of harm to a show that could be funny and charming. Lena Olin and the actor who plays her husband( don't know his name) were doing some heavy lifting in the first two ep's and their absence (except a brief appearance) was felt.
  10. Ha LOL Guilty as charged. I'll give you a pass on Weird Al. I think he's hilarious. I just watched the video and it may have made just for me. Also- I care a lot about the show so I'm posting-even though I am grammar challenged. ;)
  11. I use to go out to parties and havin a ball. Now I got myself together baby no more standing upside the wall-- as long as your groovin there's always a chance somebody watchin might wanna make romance . Allright some Marvin Gaye- maybe the write’s have got it together. The party was groovin’ . James did notice Lafayette. Then cut to old mopey face-looking dreary by the fireplace -while the party’s going full tilt, another tedious Bill flashback. By the way- the escaping from the Confederates was a total Sound of Music rip off. Lafayette, Eric, Pam were grooving this ep. God forbid we only spend a few minutes of screen time on them and immediately go back to Suckie. Nelson Ellis continues to save every episode he’s in. Calling Jess on her S*t and the other white citizens of Bon Temps, never think of his needs as a person and a man. I hope he gets that. Pam and Eric continue to be awesome in spite of the writers. Eric gets a bad ass action moment-(ruined) but the writers have given him a bad case of ADD and he loses focus on Newlin and goes after the Yakuza. After 7 seasons I cannot believe I’m watching the last few episodes heavily featuring Yakuza. As for Bill- hurry up and die- (take Suckie with you.) I could care less. It was an ep that a few real highlights and the rest was garbáge
  12. Not universally loved? that's an understatement. More like hated. I am thoroughly enjoying this little comedy- I'm fine with the Swedish and I think the jokes are funny. I loved the Will Ferrell scenes and the show- in it's in own way- highlights America's cultural - I don't know-myopia? I especially liked the joke about what the Swedish country house is for- not for kicking back and relaxing. I plan on watching every ep and enjoying the Swedish countryside and the humor.
  13. The best part of this ep. was the flashback. College student Ginger! Super bad ass Pam is back. She was my favourite thing this ep. Really- Eric giving Sookie puppy dog eyes at the end -ick. Lafayette continues to be awesome. So far an improvement but my hopes are not high .
  14. I'm too embarrassed to explain it. I can't be believe I just watched the whole thing. I have no idea what happened.
