  1. It's pretty telling that Sylvie was keying in on the happy couple and the groups of friends chatting in the McDonald's, it's the peace she never got to experience, I don't blame her for wanting to sit a spell and just be a person. Let's never discount that Tom Hiddleston does a lovestruck gaze better than pretty much anyone else, when he saw Sylvie in that elevator that was the money shot for me.

    Loki In The Media

Giving Loki and Sylvie Moon River....sure it's a Mickey Dees ad but also lushly romantic.
  3. The space conversation between Seema and Carrie was fantastic. Carrie not wanting to lose her one friend who is close in age to her without kids was beautifully done without stating the obvious. Without Samantha, Carrie is an outlier among Charlotte and Miranda and while they never make it a thing, it's always good to have someone who can relate to being a woman in this world who has not become a mom. I also loved Seema immediately shutting down whatever "you'll find a great love" platitude that Carrie was going to spout, that never makes someone feel better, it just serves to reinforce that the person isn't working hard enough to find that love. Some people never get that and it's ok acknowledge that, hell, it's necessary.
  4. Miranda Richardson won a Bafta and secured the film's only Academy Award nomination for that role. I read about how this new production wanted to beef up Anna's role but it seems to have come at the expense of Ingrid's part. Lord did the creators of this show go off on how the novel was from a man's point of view, eliding over the fact that it was written by Josephine Hart. It's clear in the novel and the film that the whole endeavor is leading up to the scene where the wife finally unleashes her righteous fury on her husband for blowing up their family. No one needed to know more about Anna, she wasn't that important, it was the betrayal, not how or why it happened that mattered. We are never going to get a nuanced portrayal of BDSM onscreen if people can't allow for it to be shown in a healthy way. Yes, it is often a way for people to work out past trauma (and there's nothing wrong with that) but people also enjoy it and know how to practice it with respect, boundaries (like she lays out boundaries and he proceeds to plow through each one and she lets him, why?) and mutual ongoing consent.
  5. Do not understand the reason behind putting Essence in that giant, poufy prom dress for a contemporary piece, good to know the costume department is still on their bullshit. Bummed that no tappers made it but then again the choreographers on this show do not know how to work with them anyway. The budget must have been slashed to hell if they aren't doing live voting anymore. I wouldn't have blamed Nigel if he had walked even though we know he was kicked off. They've gutted any pretense of caring about dance by hiring someone who only has DWTS as her dance background which is patently unfair to the dancers competing. Not going to bother with the season, fortunately venues here are back open and there's enough real dance being performed that I can see live.
  6. In NYC terms of attractiveness Alyssa is micro-influencer pretty and Azah is should be fronting a major luxury fashion house campaign stunning.
  7. Nicki Clyne's inability to be off Insta got Keith caught. That's going to make me laugh for years. Eat real meals kids, starvation makes you stupid. No wonder Nicki's out there dancing for Keith and coddling up to anyone who will give her some air time, she's partially responsible for getting him arrested.
  8. In the past episode mention was made of Allison losing her period for TEN YEARS. That will definitely come back on her health wise later on. So Keith wanted a powerful harem of women in political positions and corporate higher ups, how exactly were they supposed to do that on 500 calories a day? It must stick in his craw that an attractive woman like Moira Kim Penza helped to put him away, back in the day he would have had all of JNess/DOS going after her.
  9. Allison Mack Sentencing Date Not Set Yet Last I heard, Lauren Salzman and Nancy Salzman were also still waiting for their sentencing dates.
  10. She said in a podcast that she surmised that Keith viewed her as more valuable as a recruiter but today in her victim impact statement she said that Keith "tried to steal her away from her husband". You can read it here. Scroll down to 1:00 PM.
  11. A lot of gifted kids fall off later in life when they reach the age where their talents are no longer unusual. Clearly Keith fell off in college where he barely maintained a C average. It could be that he had high expectations for himself and upon realizing that he was no longer special, his entitlement led him to resent other successful people and caused him to curdle.
  12. Mark got sucked into two cults. Who didn't know that Ramtha was a scammer? And apparently given to racist, anti-Semitic tirades. Before NXIVM and The Vow, Mark Vicente Directed a Truly Bizarre Hit Documentary
  13. The Vow Finale: How the Directors Went Past the Sex Cult To Tell NXIVM's Deeper Story One would hope that for the second season they learn to edit, edit, edit and that Mark isn't nearly as interesting as he thinks he is. I think a certain type of naivete plays a big part in who can be recruited into a cult or an MLM. It has nothing to do with intelligence and a lot to do with being open minded in a way that limits critical thinking because you don't want to miss out on something "special". NXIVM used to refund the $5000 feel for the second part of their intensive if a participant signed up three people to take the first part, that's classic MLM behavior and I can't see how anyone alive today wouldn't recognize that. Even in 2004 I knew that was how MLM's operated. However, someone who really believed that they were being led into a better, more ethical lifestyle might happily overlook that in order to continue on that "journey". That person would never be me.
