Congrats to Christine. They both look joyously happy! The backdrop is stunning!
Ill-fitting or not, that dress is still a huge step up from that sateen pillowcase she wore to her spiritual marriage to Kody.
For some reason, I just thought I read or maybe I just assumed David's 1st wife died from cancer. Tragic either way.

He is projecting his mind games onto her: he's the one who wont tell her directly what he wants form their relationship. (Hint: He wants her undying loyalty and unquestioning obedience.)
And let's not forget her $$$$. Plus, she was the family CPA and knows where all the bodies are buried. Yes, her financial acumen is definitely in question given her current lack of assets, but I cringe to think of Robyn being in that role. She would be the type to see beanie babies as an investment opportunity. I really hope Janelle is smart and strong enough not to help their file their taxes or balance their accounts. I feel like it is just a matter of time of Robyn and Kody being left to their own financial devices before their world implodes and all their financial shenanigans come to light a la Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann or better yet Todd Chrisley and his wife.
Oh heavens, let me live long enough to see that.
The whole apologize to me and Robyn to now I want a discussion is so stupid. Who in their right mind doesn't believe that "discussion" is to explain to them how wrong they are, browbeat an apology out of them and finally bend the knee to him and Robyn?
3 hours ago, MamaMax said:He uses emotionally manipulative words and phrases like "no one cares enough to protect the babies" and then flips when J called him out on that.
My favorite was after Janelle saying he spend the majority of covid lock down at Robyn's, him telling Janelle that she is going off a recency bias w/covid and Janelle clapping back essentially saying I will, if you stop referencing covid too. BOOM! He has been using Robyn and the tenders total and absolute compliance as a bludgeon against Janelle and Christine since COVID.
Oh and according to Kody, him and Janelle have been separated 2-3 times in the past?!?! I thought it was only 1 when she lived in a tent in Montana or something. Yikes on a bike!

He was trying to convince Logan to live at home while he went to college (but of course, that would have saved Kody money, too), and more recently, he wished Ysabel was staying closer to "home" for college (instead of moving to NC to live with Maddie).
I really don't think it was the money, although that probably didn't help. I will never forget the look on Kody's face when Logan said he was leaving to live on campus. Its right up there with Christine telling him to his face that she didn't want to be married to him anymore. It was utter shock and "shit, I'm fucked!" It was glorious!
Quiet as it is kept, Logan was raising the family that Kody made. Sadly, Logan was the dad figure to many of the children that Kody wasn't. He had to be an adult way, way before his time. I wouldn't be surprised if that is why he has said he doesn't want kids. He has literally raised a dozen kids. He had so much responsibility on his young shoulders and never got to be a kid himself. I was proud of him when he finally put himself 1st and went off to truly enjoy the college experience. Logan leaving meant that Kody would have to step it up and fill the gigantic hole that Logan's absence left, which he never did, which eventually lead to the slow demise of the family. In the end all Kody did was create 3 broken homes with a derelict, dusty baby daddy.
I believe, all the Kody was a "great and engaged dad" talk is mostly him being the fun dad. He was like a giant, fun, dumb, golden retriever that came barreling into the house, bringing chaos and mayhem, roughhoused with the boys, tickled the girls then bounded off with his hair flying in the breeze leaving a bigger mess than before he showed up. Plus, he was probably great on holidays and on family vacations (if they could afford those back in the day). Meanwhile, Logan was doing the gritty day to day shit of getting them up and dressed for school, making sure they were fed and did their homework. Never forget that Christine, asking Kody to tuck the kids into bed while she was at her night job was too much for him and not his job!

I think Janelle confronting Kody on not seeing or talking to Savannah (an under 18 tender) for 6 weeks - during a major holiday BTW - is the first time I have seen him at a complete loss of words. It was a word salad and he finally belched out business. LOL! He was literally like:
Wordsmith Robyn must not have walked him through a suitable response to this - hint - there is none!
Am I the only one anxiously waiting for another 2 rings to fall off during the SW's intro?
Kody saying "Am I just a resource to you?" to a woman who for the first half of their marriage was one of the (if not THE) family member with a stable steady job and dependable bread winner, likely lived at poverty levels, getting food stamps & welfare, filed bankruptcy, turned over her entire inheritance, liquidated her 401k (with penalties) and probably had her kids going to bed hungry more times then she probably cares to remember should have scalding hot lemon water thrown at him and the lemon rinds grounded into his open eyes.

I thought the most interesting lil nugget dropped this episode was Kody mentioning that the current Robyn mansion was one that they planned to raise the tenderettes in for the next 15 years. In other words, he has no plans to pay off, build on or move to Coyote Pass for the forseeable future. He really just told on himself.

This is an interesting comment that I hadn't given any thought to and I agree, she probably took her own money (TLC or whatever MLM scheme she is a part of) and brought that RV.

I feel mostly sorry for them. Those two tendrils are charged with the Herculean task of trying to cover Kody's horrible pattern male baldness. Take away those 2 tendrils, and he would look like a Ben Franklin impersonator.

I used to believe but after that fireside chat this episode in Meri's backyard when Robyn actively and obviously put the kibosh on the whole family being invited for Meri's xmas eve pajama jammy jam, I am not so sure.

I really do hope that Meri is still there because of the money. She has got 3 sources of income and really the show feeds the other two. Her being a D list reality celeb is a boost, no matter how low tier. Otherwise, she would be like every other middle American trying to sell ugly patterned remnants passing as new clothes on the interwebs.
Meri gave Kody the biggest ding to his ego he has probably ever had - she was gonna leave him for what she thought was a better man. Doesn't matter that it turned out to be fake, the intention was clearly there. They circled the wagons and let her push the lie that 'he' was just a friend, but no one with sense believed that shit, except that maybe Meri started to believe her own lie. Womp womp. No way he was taking her back.
I don't believe that Robyn is some great manipulator or plays 4D chess, but you don't have to be with these rubes. I believe Robyn is good at planting seeds and making Kody (and maybe even Meri) think that her nudging them in the direction she wants was their original idea. I never believed that the divorce was Meri's idea. I think even Kody believes that the protoculls are his idea. I am waiting with bated breath for one of them to say that not inviting the kids to Meri's annual xmas eve pajama jammy jam was Meri's idea.
Garrison and Gabe are 100% correct that the protoculls are all Robyn!
On 9/5/2023 at 3:03 AM, Yeah No said:Also, I think those Covid "proticulls" were another Robyn manipulation coming out of her "damsel in distress" act. She managed to convince him of her (and possibly her kids') physical vulnerability to catching it so once again he sees her and her kids as the damsels he must protect at all costs against illness. This became a convenient excuse to keep him home away from interacting with the rest of the family and making him put the focus on protecting her and her kids at the expense of his other kids. We saw that in action in this episode. As soon as he might consider seeing any of the other kids she reminded him about "how safe" it might be to do so, thus putting the kibosh on it. He is so snowed by her and his ego so pumped up by being her "rescuer and protector" that he doesn't even care about anyone else. He has allowed his ego to poison his relationships with just about everyone else in his family including his kids with the other wives. He is a very sad excuse for a man!
I didn't need any proof that the protoculls were Robyn's but I got it when we all learned that Meri had been keeping to them but still not allowed to come over and visit the tenders. When Meri expressed this on screen, Kody later went to Robyn and asked her permission, yes permission, if it would be alright to let Meri come over. Robyn prevaricated and tried another excuse saying something to the effect that it would offend the other wives and family if only Meri were allowed to the mcmansion. I think in the end Robyn only allowed it because it was brought up on camera and would make her
look badlook even worse if she didn't.20 hours ago, Adeejay said:Poor Kody! He is finally coming to the startling realization that the world doesn’t revolve around him. Imagine that.

Well, that escalated quickly!
What does it say when Meri is not only the one that was the total voice of reason but making astute points and observations and shock among shocks - also giving Janelle the benefit of the doubt (not colluding with the family vs Kody)?!!? Someone get the smelling salts and Robyn's tufted fainting divan!
That was way more intense and frankly, anxiety producing than what happened b/w Kody and Christine. I actually re-watched S17 ep 1, and that is arguably, one of the best episodes of the series. Emotions may have been high, but there was no yelling and cussing at each other. Kody and Christine talked more or less calmly and where able to get their individual points across.
This, in contrast, was so frustrating because they kept interrupting and talking over each other. This was friggin' ugly and I've never seen Janelle so angry. Also, although this may have been simmering for a bit but it was rather sudden and so explosive. Janelle has up until now, always reminded me of that meme with the dog, sitting in a cafe, surrounded by flames saying: "This is fine."
Any guesses on whether Kody's MENSA group were required to meet
Robyn'sKody's protoculls rules before & during the brain trust meet up? Something tells me those dudes ain't wiping down mail or bathing immediately upon home entry! Those rules are used as excuses to limit interaction with non-Robyn related family.Nice to have confirmation that Kody was listening to manosphere podcasts. I pretty much thought as much last season when he kept throwing up the word accountability and worried about his money/custody.
What kinda psychopath just stands around drinking hot plain water on purpose? The answer is Kody.
Wow! After that argument, Kody didn't text, see or call Savanah for over a week. He is an ain't shit father that let's whatever present relationship he has with the mother, dictate what kind of relationship he has w/the kids he has with said mother. The fact that he didn't even know that so many of his kids were coming to AZ just goes to show he doesn't really talk to them. He isn't mad at Hunter, why can't he see or speak to him?

I've been watching this show since the beginning, but I am always so tempted to start a rewatch on MAX, but I always stop myself because for one the amount of episodes is daunting and two, re-witnessing Robyn's machinations and Kody's general jackassery, I just don't want to get more riled up about this show then I already am.
23 hours ago, 65mickey said:Just so he could let everyone know that Aurora respects him and treats him like he is special and accepts his authority blah blah blah. So he rewarded her with a special daddy daughter date to have her ears pierced. And remember when Christine was getting ready to take Ysabel half way across the country for serious and painful back surgery he referred to Christine making this like a vacation. That's when I knew that he is despicable and has no conscience.
Ysabel back surgery was a pivotal moment in this show's history for me. Kody's behavior and failure to support his daughter and wife during this time is when he just became completely irredeemable to me. This is the moment of infamy for SW's if you ask me. Yes, he was always a showboat, egocentric narc but he devolved and became a full-on demon at that point. For him to open his mouth and suggest that his 17 yr daughter, who was in near constant pain, should either continue to be so or go cross country to major back surgery BY. HER. SELF. is the most disgusting moment on this show and maybe even in reality show history. The excuse that the tenderettes couldn't go so long without him was the chance Robyn could have used to demonstrate true SW love by sacrifice but nope. Her silence was deafening. That is why Christine's statement that Robyn has never truly lived plyg is such a resounding and absolute truth!
The reason I got so disgusted by the piercing scenes was because of his actions re: Ysabel's surgery. I think it is commendable that a man loves his adopted children as his own, however, that is not really what is happening here. He is placing them above his other children simply because of his relationship with Robyn because she feeds his ego and encourages blind and absolute loyalty and obedience of herself and her children. Anyone who doesn't do that is out of favor.

Kody does not realize that the opposite of love isnt hate, it's indifference. He still has some weird deep wound from Christine leaving - that is hate. But he doesn't give a rip about what's her name Meri - that is indifference.
This is why his statement during lunch to Christine told more about him then it did her. He said that she would love it if he hated her, when really it is the other way around. She truly sits there unbothered by any of his antics and goes so far as to laugh at him. LOL!
I've seen elsewhere people saying that the Robyn Thanksgiving scene was from last year. It was probably even more pitiful in 2021.
I am curious to know if Briana and Aurora even talk to or date for fear of making Kody jealous!
Briana is such a non-entity on this show, that I am curious about her personality. For some reason, I had a dash of hope for her, but based on the comments here, that hope was perhaps misplaced.
Also interesting how many of the OG older kids don't want to appear on the show or have their special moments filmed. Good for them. I can't even remember the last time I saw Logan on the TLC screen.

About Thanksgiving, not for nothing but just judging from last season, who da hell would want to spend a holiday at Robyn's? The hostest with the mostest she isn't. She just didn't have warm, welcoming energy and having guests seemed like an imposition. She just seems so low energy and stilted at the rare times when the extended family is at her place.
Plus, she never struck me as much of a cook and I feel like this has been said a few times on the show.

So Robyn doesn't see any dealbreakers between Christine and Kody?!?! So kind of her. So she doesn't think Kody failing to go to a serious surgery of a child is wrong? Spending little to no time with Christine or her kids and when he is there, isn't really present? Or worse yet, texting with Robyn! Kody unilaterally cutting off the nookie? Treating Christine's tenderette as a red-headed stepchild to such an extent that she suffers kidney failure while under his "care." Isn't it nice that someone getting a full time husband, sees nothing wrong when another wife doesn't even get scraps.
Do Robyn or Kody even hear themselves? Christine is 1000% right about one thing - Robyn has never, ever lived plural marriage or life. Ever!
Christine being happy and giddy to no longer be married to Kody is what is killing him and his ego, and fueling his anger and I. LOVE. IT!!!! I remember last season when he seemed so terse and angry about Christine getting 'his stink' off herself and seeing how non-reactive and disengaged she was towards him. She really went to therapy and/or learned how to deal with a narc! She gives him nothing to work with and you could see him testing her and trying to get to her during that dinner, but she was like a ninja, evading all his emotional traps. You could see that her boundaries are set and firm like the Great Wall. Total rockstar!
I want to know
moreeverything about that group chat!! That was the most fascinating part of the episode for me. So the kids were discussing a kids only gift exchange and all was good until grown ass Robyn stuck her fat, wide neck into the situation and demanded a zoom meeting and then everything went to shit! The whole nice idea was derailed and the family fractured even further. Now Robyn is sitting in an interview talking like a victim - AGAIN! Why is Robyn always the common denominator in the bullshit!? Why was her ass even involved?!? I wouldn't be surprised that she insisted on the zoom meeting knowing damn good and well how hard it is to organize all those damn kids with their own lives, families and in different time zones. And Kody calls Christine of all people Machiavellian. Kody needs to look over at his favorite and sole pencil case/sharpener.I am really having trouble reconciling so many of the OG wives and kids saying that Kody was such a good and involved dad. Since so many have said it, I am kinda forced to take it as truth, but damn he must've been a completely different person back then or they are all brainwashed. I guess I would want to know what they consider a good dad.
Was surprised Aurora didn't have to be carried to and from the piercing appointment hyperventilating. The tenderettes are in great danger of being failure to launch adults. Kody talking about how Aurora respects his authority so totally just skeeves me out.

I definitely agree with all who say that Kody has a right to be angry and not forgiving of Meri for the catfish. However, I do blame him for not just divorcing her and sending mixed signals. For example, in the previews for this season, he is saying "I don't even know what Meri is doing here in Flagstaff." Didn't he basically ask her to come to Flagstaff and give her false hope that it could be a new start for them and things might be different? Also, why even celebrate an anniversary with a woman he doesn't even want to be married to and then spends that day being mean and nasty? He asks to be wooed and acts disgusted when she tries.
I don't know if Meri is just prideless, or she sees sticking around and taking his shit as her penance, or just sticking around for the TLC check, but good gawd I am looking forward to her finally taking a hint.

A bit of a tangent and maybe a bit crass, but I always suspected that part of the reason he stopped being intimate with the non-Robyn's was because of lowered sex drive and maybe even erectile dysfunction. The man is in his 50s. His pencil ain't what it used to be.

How fast will the older 3 be told to get their own places and jobs to support themselves?
But even better, I'd like to never see them on my TV again for any reason!!!
Robyn is very withholding (and therefore so is Kody) about her relationship with her best customer. I don't think we will ever get the real truth for them and if we do, you know repo men and sheriff are knocking at the door, Robyn's Precious Moments vendor(s) can no longer afford their summer home, and the bills on the counter have collected cobwebs. In short, the shit has truly hit the proverbial fan.
But count me in until it either gets to boring or the wheels fall off. Kidney boy's reaction to Christine having a boyfriend and then getting engaged, is something I am positively salivating to see. I may need a cigarette afterwards.

This episode did seem like mostly rehash but there were some immensely enjoyable parts like Janelle and Christine talking shit in her apt and Christine saying if Kody can say she is responsible for tearing apart the family, then he is responsible for his shitty relationships w/his kids.
If Robyn thinks she was depressed in 2021, I'd
hatelove to see her now. My guess? Those bills piling up on the counter to be paid are doing nothing but accruing interest and gathering dust and she is in a spiral wearing high water jeans that don't reach her ankles because she can't afford the VS long legged version.Losing a 200 lb tumor results in an instant glow up - good to know!
Loving Christine sass and pure joy over not being married to that giant flaming jackass anymore! I hope her only regret is not doing it sooner.
The only time Kody ever says my house or my kids is when referring to Robyn's residence and her children.
Another contradiction is Kody telling Janelle not to be an intermediary b/w him and his estranged sons, but that is exactly what he wants. He only doesn't want that now because Janelle isn't on his side. If she was, she would be able to speak on his behalf.
Nothing is ever Kidney boy's or Sobbin's fault! Nothing! Isn't it awful that Christine's happiness is getting in the way of Sobbin's dreams of the perfect plural family? Isn't it awful that Christine didn't stay in a loveless, sexless and disrespectful marriage to assuage Kidney boy's ego?
Robyn dear, you didn't have blinders on. GTFH with that nonsense. She is a triangulator down to her bone marrow. She knows she is the fave based ONLY on comparison to the other wives. She had her gold-digging miners hat on and shovel in hand. She only talked about family and togetherness but all her actions were the complete opposite - divisiveness and selfishness. She goes on and on about how HER tender aged kids can't go 3 days without their dad, but happily took Kody away from newborn Truely weeks after her birth for a 2 week honeymoon. Of course, the Browns had issues and fractures in their relationships pre-Robyn. However, she exploited the pre-existing ones and happily created new ones. She never in a million years thought Christine would have the guts to leave. Frankly, I admit that of all the wives, I thought Christine was the true believer and would be the least likely to leave. So happy she proved me wrong.
Was this episode a little slow? Yes, but the road to just desserts can be slow and winding and I am enjoying the ride. It took 17 friggin' seasons to get here! 1 down, 2 to go.

As far as the high kitchen cabinets, I would use them to store things you don't use that often. I'm short enough I have to use a step stool to reach the top shelves in my cabinets, so I would use one to reach the high cabinets.
I love their kitchen, but yeah those cabinets were sky high. It would be more than a step ladder for most avg height people. I feel like I would be in danger of my life just to get on a ladder and get those 'not often used items.' The thought of having to break out the scaffolding just to get my grandma's special thanksgiving pumpkin shaped butter dish is just too much. But I have to say, in actuality, having them stop short of the ceiling would probably be a problem and look chintzy. I don't know what the solution is. Soffits?

I was shocked by the win, but pleasantly so. I actually clapped (in a bedroom by myself). I am so happy for them. I don't know what it says about me but Michel and Anthony's house most closely aligns with my personal taste than the 3 others. I love a touch of luxe and I veer more towards dark and moody. One room that probably didn't get a lot of play but was my utmost personal fave was their pantry. The pantry of my dreams and is staying pinned on my boards. Kind of reminds me of a more modern English pantry.
I did also love Michel and Anthony's master, but the master shower although gorgeous was huge, cavernous and doorless. I'd be freezing my ass off in there every damn morning.
Frankly, I thought Jon and Kristina had it locked, especially with the kitchen and their gear room. Colorado has a lot of outdoorsy people and no one else thought of a place to put things like skis, bikes, etc. I didn't care for the room but thought it was a well thought out addition.
I thought all the exteriors were super lovely, but I do like the light tones of the hotel couple. The brick works way better on the outside than on the inside.
I am now firmly on the 2 kitchen islands is ridiculous train.
I am with everyone else, what about the other bedrooms and bathroom(s)? I feel a little short changed.

I am totally shocked that no one did a home theatre! That is what I would want to see.
What do NKOTB and Kristina have against dishwashers?!?! My money is on them to win this. I hated their bedroom though. That color green was awful! But I guess that can be painted over.
I like Michel and Anthony's design but I can see now that their house is unlikely to win because it really isn't kid or family friendly AT ALL! So it is not gonna to appeal to a larger segment of buyers. It is very sexy though. I loved their kitchen but frankly, if I was paying upwards of $2m on a home, I want quartz counters, NOT PORCELAIN.
There is basic and then there is basic & ugly. Enter the Baumlers. Their basement was 75% spa and 25%. Where were the kids supposed to play? In that small room under the stairs? If they had just done the gym, sauna and full bath, and let the rest for family fun/relaxation, I think they stood a chance of winning. The massage room and gigantic bath were too much. That might make sense in some ridiculous 25,000 square foot legit mansion, but not this one. I know Brian and Mika won overall S2 and they didn't win any of the individual challenges but at least their home was simply basic, yet functional, family friendly and well thought out i.e, had mass appeal. Any one can add their touches to elevate it to their taste. The Baumler rock wall is aggressively ugly and dominates the entire house. I can't see anything beyond it and it seems to be almost everywhere. It would be a PITA and expensive to remove.
Paige's deserved to lose just for those swings alone.

Robyn and Kody truly make me think they suffer from folie a deux syndrome - shared madness of two, where symptoms of a delusional belief are transmitted from one to another and most unfortunately, Robyn seems to actively be trying to spread to her kids.
"GET THEIR PENCIL'S WET"
"GET THEIR PENCIL'S WET"
Does anyone else remember the time when the Brown's didn't even seem to cuss? How far they have fallen? We seem to be getting at least 2 beeps every episode. But this here, so very crass and uncouth and he also told on himself - he is a pencil dicked SOB.
All this Kody found his soul mate ... Kody found his true love. I say bullshit! Most agree that Kody is a narc. Kody loves Kody. Robyn co-signs his BS and manipulates to get better treatment and money. Kody said himself that respect matters to him most, not love. I hope he never gets sick. Robyn can't even take care of her own healthy kids let alone a grown ass man baby. I also never hear about him raving about her cooking or anything else besides her loyalty. Hopefully that can sustain him.

There was just so much to be annoyed by in this episode ... The first "family" conversation with Kody trying to force a discussion about Christine: It's totally cool, Meri don't be weird its not a forbidden subject. Come on, say something ... say something shitty about Christine! Come on! I felt like I was watching a teenaged asshole sitting at a jr high school lunch room table trying to push his friends to take his side in some petty fight with another kid.
Family discussion # 2: With regard to the whole apology thing ... Kody can slam his fists and shout all he wants, but I don't think the reason he is upset is due to the poor communication between him, Janelle, and their boys. Nor do I think he's coming unglued due to Janelle's failure to show him proper CoVID respect which made his life so hard and caused problems for him with his sons.
Part of me thinks Janelle staring down the gauntlet of a lifetime of more meetings w/those 3 losers tag-teaming her and no Christine for backup was a big part of what made up her mind.

And I'm saying to each of you that I want to get this figured out."
Janelle, stone-faced: "WELP, gotta go get Savannah."
Janelle was giving me Rick Sanchez energy in that scene but the clean Mormon version.

S18.E09: Battle Lines are Drawn
in Sister Wives
This was quite the nugget filled episode. I might have to watch it again!
The whole time I thought Aurora was Robyn's mini-me, but I guess that is only because Breanna hasn't been on screen all that much. From her voice, to her speech pattern, the very words tumbling from her mouth to the horrid scrunchy face bawling and what seemed to be tearless eyes - Breanna is Robyn's successor. Wow! That whole display was honestly concerning. Robyn has emotionally crippled her children. Great day in the morning!
Once again, the xmas exchange discussion just is so very riveting to me. I love that Garrison said everything with his chest and really at many points, sounded just like this board. He truly has connected all the dots and I loved every minute of it. Robyn doesn't know anything else but to be manipulative, gaslight and cry. Standing ovation to first saying she is angry that she can no longer control them and secondly him realizing he didn't have the emotional maturity to speak with Robyn.
Speaking of which, what a dark bitch! She really overplayed her hand. The whole description of her gift exchange behavior had flames licking at the side of my face. Then her telling Logan and Mykelti to tell the kids she doesn't want to speak with them anymore. What is she in friggin' middle school?!? I noticed she didn't even attempt to cry when describing how all the kids rightfully don't fuck with her. I think this might have been a Robyn tearless episode (but for her doppleganger). One for the record books.
Did Kody call all the non-Robyns' (including his kids) jerks?!!? I swear the only real truths he told this season are that he was going to embrace the devil that he is (A+ job BTW) and that he don't fuck with Meri!
Aurora talking about Gabe softened me up towards her just a smidge that I am sure won't last long.
I didn't understand Christine at first when saying that taking Truly away preserves Truly's relationship with Kody, but looking at Savannah's relationship with Kody puts it into perspective. Truly can now think that she doesn't see her dad that much because he lives far away as opposed to him living minutes away and seeming to choose not to see her or forget she exists all together.
This episode didn't help with my Mykelti and Tony distaste.
