  1. I would think the prosecution would argue that the existence of those children is a reason to deny him bond, not grant it. It’s not like he’s been charged with Grand Theft Auto.
  2. And then, if he’s convicted, that much again for the appeal?
  3. Looks around to make sure no one can hear, leans in, whispers…”they might have to take orders from a woman!!!!!!” Or a heathen or someone of another faith or creed or race. Or someone who doesn’t understand how SUPER SPECIAL they are!!! The horror… That and there are those pesky things like waking up on time, being accountable, working hard, and learning skills. Not going to happen.
  4. The Duggars never looked half that good on their best day ever.
  5. Yowza. Did no one re-read the first sentence of that article before it was published, because… …is a really poor choice of words.
  6. I was thinking about this, and the difference may be in large part because there weren’t any legal proceedings involved in either of the prior two scandals. The molestations had happened while Josh was still a minor and it was years prior to it being made public, IIRC. The Ashley Madison scandal wasn’t illegal…it was just a shitty thing to do to his wife and it was a complete kick in the groin to the Duggar Holier Than Thou brand. But nobody was going to get arrested for it. In this case, Josh the chronological adult has been charged with an actual crime and a heinous one at that. Given that our system is based on the presumption of innocence, there may be less immediate cries for canceling the show or actions from the advertisers, pending the outcome of the case.
  7. They’re young. They’re able-bodied. Sooner or later, this day was going to come and it shouldn’t have been a surprise to them, given the preview they had the last time Josh’s activities came to light. They need to find a way to have independent lives. Churning out babies as a way to keep the show was a very short-sighted strategy and it’s painted them into a corner. I dislike Derrick and think he’s mostly frosty because he CAN’T rely on TLC money anymore, if he ever could, but at least he’s getting a law degree and they stopped at two kids. They’re far better prepared than the rest of the family at this point. It was going to happen. It was just a matter of time. Was anyone ever going to pay them for “526 Great-grandchildren and Counting”?
  8. You’re too kind...literally. Michelle has admitted she “never had a heart for children” and YMMV, obviously, but I take her at her word. I think they’re both narcissists but in varying degrees. Most teens are endlessly self-absorbed and JB and Michelle were just teens when they got together. After that, neither one matured much because they turned to Gothard’s cult and apparently never had an independent thought again. I do think they’re very much alike and that’s probably both a blessing and a curse.
  9. Kinda gives new potential meaning to the phrase, “breakout star,” now doesn’t it…
  10. Now see, that’s a fundraiser…sell tickets to THAT!
  11. When is his bail hearing again? Or is that called something else, like an arraignment? #clueless
  12. I would bet $1000 they didn’t. JB’s too arrogant and he thinks rules are for the little people/godless heathens, not him.
  13. I agree...however, JB may not know how much Josh knows. The guy who wrote that AMA on Reddit said that Josh is very tech-savvy and I’m guessing JB isn’t. If JB uses a computer for any of his financial stuff Josh would have been able to access it. Even if everything is hard copy and locked up I can’t see that stopping Josh for too long.
  14. Oh FFS. To borrow the exquisitely-crafted phrase by @Zahdii, that technicolor fame-douche REALLY needs a reality check. Does no one in this entire extended gaggle have a working bullshit detector?? You’d think, statistically, there would have to be one, at least?
  15. Hold up…US us? Or Duggar us? Because the day I need help from a grifting unemployed pretentious fashion freak with a designer Bible will be…never…so Jer can kiss off with himself.
  16. Yesterday I was reading an article about cleaning a 330-ton wad of congealed fat out of the sewers of London and I thought, “well, there’s the worst job in the world right there.” But it’s still a distant second to being Josh’s live-in guard.
  17. Do you think they would have had a big media push anyway? I don’t know how any of this works anymore with Covid and virtual interviews, but I wouldn’t think their publishers would have been throwing much (if any) of their money or clout toward getting them PR for what is essentially a vanity press book?
  18. Thank God. Jana’s put up with enough babysitting for a lifetime. Three lifetimes.
  19. Dunno…do they allow conjugal visits in federal prison?
  20. Okay, I am enjoying this scenario to a degree that might not be entirely healthy…
  21. It’s not even that terrible a gamble. Right now the “government witch hunt of the Christians” narrative is pretty potent and all Josh would need is one juror to go that way. And it’s sad, but true, that since the last one of Josh’s atrocities our cultural standard for moral or ethical behavior among public figures has been lowered a whole lot farther. JB may see this as a hill to climb on if he still has political ambitions, which wouldn’t surprise me. He does crave power. Of course, it would probably help if Josh weren’t such an odious SOB.
  22. Josh was raised as an entitled monster and that monster is lurching back toward the village that created him, yet again. It’s just too bad that so many, many innocents are being hurt in the process. @Albanyguy, I think your scenario is probably really accurate. The only part the cynic in me wonders about is whether TLC will have the principles to drop the Duggars if Josh pleas or even if he’s convicted. Their public statement was clearly, “Josh who? Don’t know that guy” level distancing, so I can see them clinging to that posture and continuing the show in some format, regardless, because $$$. You give Jeremy more credit for intelligence than I do. My candidate for “sole exception” is Derrick. It would explain his rages getting more intense during this time period and it would explain why Jill has finally gotten therapy support to be liberated from her upbringing. It’s pretty damned rich that J’chelle would tell Jill she’s only welcome in the compound by invitation when Josh, 3-time big sick loser, is living there with his brood. I really don’t blame Derrick for being royally pissed by their hypocrisy and favoritism, especially as Jill was one of Josh’s victims.
