  1. I felt that way about Peacock last year. I subscribed in order to gain access to the 2023 Women's World Cup last summer and the navigability was not user friendly imo. Load times lagged, sometimes rewinding was problematic, and scrolling through the home screen was a pain since it never remembered the last programs I watched. Sometimes I had exit out the app altogether and reload just to fix some of the lags. The day after the tournament ended, they had already charged me for another month so I had it for a few extra weeks. I unsubscribed anyway (but not before they tried to bribe me into staying with a 50% discount πŸ™„). The user interface alone was a major turn-off.
  2. After Netflix ceased password sharing, I lost access to a friend's account when I relocated to a new city - now that I've found other places to watch wildlife documentaries and K-dramas, I've boycotted them ever since πŸ˜‚I really hope that the password sharing option doesn't jump to other platforms. In the meantime, my only main subscriptions outside Prime Video have been to Acorn and PBS Masterpiece classic (I too had the $0.99 monthly subscription for 12 months). $5.99 or $6.99 isn't too bad for all I get out of it. I am annoyed that they are beginning to move shows I once had access to other platforms such as Britbox but I'm still debating whether or not it'd be worth investing in the future πŸ€”
  3. Oh dear, isn't Richard Ayoade married to Fox's sister? Those family dinners must be awkward during the holidays😐
  4. For the same reason she invited Stan to her wedding even though Dorothy had misgivings, she either doesn't care or was in denial about her parent's divorce (because they should just get over it); which is harsher in hindsight since the episode implied that Dorothy's divorce was recent enough that she was still processing the hurt and betrayal at the time as we saw with her verbal smackdown on Stan later - I think Dorothy composed herself well considering. The same reason Sophia holds Dorothy's divorce over her head constantly despite Sophia insisting that they marry anyway knowing what a lowlife he was (because Dorothy just needs to get over it). The same reason the responsibility always falls on Dorothy to be the bigger person when Michael or Kate come crying when they know Stan is worthless - because she should just get over it. Ironic how her kids always go to HER first sooner than Stan but just expect her to ignore the past when she tries to be honest with them based upon her own experiences. They inherited Stan's lack of empathy that's for sure.
  5. I think "Would you want a gay man to speak to you/treat you the way you treat a woman?" is the more ironic language they tend to comprehend or think on more. In my experience, homophobia at its root is a hatred of the feminine. @Scarlett45 Awww pupper 😍
  6. Yup - married men tend to live longer than when they're single for a reason whilst the life span goes down for women after marriage (no coincidence there what with being worked to death, no biggie). It's not at all surprising that older women tend to not remarry as quickly (if at all) as men do after being divorced or widowed..
  7. It's no wonder - I read once that it took 3 hrs for the makeup department to turn Estelle into Sophia during the earlier seasons to make her look a lot older than Dorothy (Bea Arthur was actually a year or two older than her irl). With Dorothy no longer in the show, there probably wasn't a need. Enjoy the show!
  8. I think you are confusing Max with Eddie the Love Machine (even Sophia jumped him πŸ˜‚)
  9. I thought this was strange too! My colleagues who have attended education conferences in the past said it consisted of 80-90% women lol. Maybe it's different for administrators?
  10. The saying goes, "Men either want a nurse or a purse (or ideally both)" Perhaps you'll want a bundle with diapers one day but it shouldn't be your boyfriend πŸ˜„
  11. But nothing screams "aphrodisiac" more than a shirtless shitter photo πŸ™ƒ To be honest, even just basic kindness is such a low bar these days. Things are definitely crazy out there in the streets and you really have to screen these guys to make sure you're not getting taken advantage of, etc. Have you ever tried starting with your interests to find like minded people on the app? Especially when you read through their profiles and pick up on certain keywords? A good place to try and meet someone is in environments that you frequent/ feel safe in, or events based on hobbies and interests, that way you can observe how they walk through life even when they aren't interacting with you. And make sure they're all events and places that genuinely interest you and enrich your life even without the added benefit of finding a man. I believe that quality people that match me and my energy will take a lot more time so you're right to take your time and not just settle for anyone that says something nice. In the past, I felt that I needed to change myself, conform to societal standards of what a pretty, cool and classy girl should be like. Though honestly, you have more value to the people who share similar interests. If you feel disrespected or rushed because of your age or whatever else these grown little boys like to project to you about, never accept it! For each lowlife you don't accept, you're closer to finding that person that will take his time with you. Also, I don't force myself to be out there really; I'm always focusing on my self care, mental health and building into my craft and my hobbies while living new experiences so that I have something to talk about for when the time comes that I happen to bump onto someone. For instance, I find that I thrive in quirky or unconventional events where my confidence is unmatched and people are drawn to that. Just my two centsπŸ™‚
  12. Thank you so much, I'll have a look. It's too bad Essie Davis couldn't narrate them.
  13. By any chance, are there any audiobooks available for Phryne Fisher?
  14. Wow! I too have an immigrant mother and she is also very fashion aware so maybe it rings true LOL It's interesting that Nalini still retains her cultural roots through wardrobe to stay connected to her homeland.
  15. I don't much care for him either so that's okay lol. I think he has hidden depths underneath his stoner facade but Eleanor will help him with growth next season (I hope!). I just wish he'd stop using the nickname "Crazy Devi" around Devi seeing as it hurt her feelings last season.
  16. My thoughts exactly! This whole episode felt contrived to a point where it was just to show the chemistry between Devi and Playboy (sorry, still don't trust him.)
  17. Oh my goodness, exactly! As I mentioned in a previous episode, Ben has such a long way to go and I shake my head every time he opens his mouth - it's all well and good for him to make excuses for being a jerk but he's also a stubborn teenage boy and you'd expect that. At least Fabiola taught him a lesson even if for at least one episode so he can begin his path of growth, you gon learn today Ben! He'd just better get that attitude out of his system before he reaches university or he will have an even lonelier existence long term LOL As for Des - I get "playboy" vibes from him that I don't quite trust, so while he may not have any long-term potential, at least he's a distraction for Devi to move on from Paxton. Good on Kamala for taking the initiative to stand up to her family, looks like all those episodes of Riverdale had its intended effect πŸ˜†
  18. Oh absolutely! I think Paxton hit the nail on the head - she can't have a lasting relationship if she doesn't like herself and what has she spent the last few seasons doing in the self destruction? Heh. The audience probably knew they didn't make sense, but I got the impression that he was into her more than she was into him due to the insecurity. Paxton had more to gain from that relationship than she did honestly (i.e. gaining self-awareness and less self-absorbed, caring about studying more, having empathy for others, taking responsibility for his actions, etc.), he was becoming a better person. Her only benefit was that her social status elevated her slightly amongst her peers. Even if she didn't have the insecurity, I think she'd have gotten bored of him eventually tbh, never meet your heroes Devi. As for Ben and Aneesa, they didn't have much in common but that "library card" joke would've been a deal-breaker for me too. I know the "I'm smarter than everyone else" is just a coping mechanism to handle his loneliness, but he still has a way to go to mature. Although, when Devi and Ben briefly dated, he was a better person for it since she challenged him intellectually which brought out his nicer and more vulnerable/relatable side. Devi brings out the better side in the guys she dates, it's just too bad she overthinks everything where she can't see it. I'm so glad the girls on this show shut down the toxicity instead of laughing and smiling uncomfortably at rude remarks as if it were truth. They highlighted that a bit with Eleanor and that loser actor from a prior season but it's consistent all around and I like that. Lastly, I want all of Nalini's wardrobe - her outfits and the hairdo are fab! πŸ˜ƒ
  19. Speaking of Sophia...I'm late by a few hours but... Happy belated birthday Estelle Getty, you withered old Sicilian monkey! πŸ˜„
  20. I loved this episode if anything because of the scene where Susie is tripping over those golf clubs/the croquet set while trying to look professional. When Dinah was telling her about someone on "line one," Susie just sounded so exasperated by that point. Susie constantly lives in chaos LOL "I am important Dinah. I'm important"
  21. I agree - also I almost feel certain that Rose and Dorothy were at least 55 in Season 1 (and 42 for Blanche of course), while Sophia was 80. The only difference were the fashion trends, although doesn't everyone want to dress like a solid gold dancer going to a gay funeral in New Orleans with a Little House on the Prairie nightgown? ;)
  22. There was a live stream for Betty White's best moments on Youtube which just comprised of TVLand edits from Golden Girls and I concur with the cuts being so ridiculously annoying. There was a brief interlude with Hot in Cleveland that had random scenes but very little Betty White in it? It was the oddest thing, then it would switch back to Golden Girls and just show random moments that weren't at all Betty-centric? Ah well, at least they were able to raise $5k for the American Humane Society.
  23. Thank you for being a friend Betty - we miss you but won't ever forget you. I'll always remember how progressive a woman you were for your time; and how much joy and laughter you brought to both humans and animals alike via our television screens. I think I'm finally ready to watch Golden Girls again. Rose Nylund, you are St. Olaf's Woman of the Year - OOFDAH!
