Except that Zach's nauseating description of Whitney as the "best lil' wife" makes me think Whitney's done a pretty good job fitting in with the Bates' standards.

I just watched the ABC special on the Bates. It was so refreshing to hear Alyssa say that she would be happy with 6-10 kids and didn't know if she could handle 19. She also mentioned how peaceful it is without 20 other people around. Good for you, Alyssa! I can't imagine any of the Duggar kids being so honest. Once again I have to express how hideous Erin & Chad's bedroom is. It's like a Disney princess threw up all over it.

The Lead Actor & Actress categories were extremely competitive, but I'm baffled as to why they keep nominating Downton Abbey for Best Drama when everyone knows the show is crap. Oh well, at least this is Breaking Bad's final year, so maybe there will be some room for The Americans next year.

I don't see it with Chad either. He is soft-spoken, but that doesn't mean he's gay. He seems genuinely head over heels for Erin.

Ugh, sorry but those bridesmaids outfits were hideous. I understand the "country chic" look they were going for, but it came off as sloppy and under-dressed for such a big church wedding. Way too much white slip showing and the wedges are so clunky and inappropriate.

I don't find it hard to believe that Derick was a virgin. He may not be a hardcore fundie, but he's religious enough to go on mission trips and have "prayer partners" and the like. If he wasn't a virgin then I hope he kept his mouth shut, because I can't see Boob or Jill being down with that.

I see a few people wearing jeans in that last photo. I wonder if they specified it would be a casual wedding or if that's just how Arkansas fundies roll.

I've seen ruching on a lot of brides, none of whom were trying to hide a pregnancy or belly. It's purely ornamental and it adds a nice visual element to the gown. I think she looks very youthful. It's nice to see more brides moving away from strapless, a trend that has lasted way, way too long.

Aw, they look really sweet. I love Derick's suit and Jill's veil. Very pretty colors for a summer wedding. Also, good for Derick for not gellin' up his hair or shaving. Jill could have done something a bit more with her hair, but oh well. Congrats to the happy couple.

Jeez, I thought it was bad enough that they were registering for 2 vacuums, 2 irons, 4,000 sets of towels, etc. But guns, Fruit Loops and Burger King cards? Give me a break. I like these two but they need some serious registry etiquette lessons, like not putting the entire store on your registry just because you can. I didn't see any of the Bates kids registering for silly stuff like this.

Yeah, I really wish Alyssa had not worn those earrings on her wedding day. They are too much with the veil. Always better to keep jewelry simple on your wedding day. Lawson's first music video was released and you can see it on Kelly's blog. He has a pretty good voice, although the song is something my five year old niece could have written. I'm surprised they filmed the video in Colorado, you would think fundies would totally avoid the state for fear of getting a contact high. Erin looked kind of swollen at Alyssa's wedding. I wouldn't be surprised if she's already pregnant again and keeping it under wraps.
