  1. When I first watched the episode, I really, really did not want to believe that Laurie went into the water with the intention to end her life. (She's the sane one, ffs!) I told myself that when she smiled after Jill's call, she decided against it, thinking to herself, "okay, well my kids are a good reason to stick around, so I will--but I can still enjoy a dive in Australia while I'm here!" Lol. I always laugh when people assume I'm a pessimist. Then, last night, I re-watched a few clips and realized she wore a red shirt for most of the episode. (How could I miss that?) Now I'm really sad.
  2. Thanks! I went back and now see the difference in age, etc--though both are natural beauties with very similar features, imho. Also saw that, according to IMDB, Lindsay Duncan played in a miniseries called "Perfect Strangers" in 2001.
  3. Wasn't the leader of the Australian women's posse also the ever-faithful Millerite in the opening scene last week? If so, it could be an interesting corollary of sorts, because in a sense, she couldn't die either...
  4. Nice to know I'm not alone & point well taken. :)
  5. I think I might be the only forum member who is not repelled by any of the major 4 characters. I see some good and bad in each. Not sure what that says about me, lol. Regardless, I appreciate all the great analysis here- so many interesting points of view! I've enjoyed your tenacity, SlackerInc. I can get drawn in to curious issues of semantics as well. My understanding has always been that "upstate" and "downstate" are used more commonly as directional signifiers than geographical, though both directionality and geography are implied to some degree, at the same time. I would bet that someone from Albany would say that someone from Cold Spring lived "downstate," even if that may not be technically (geographically) accurate according to your source.
  6. Micks Picks, I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune. I sincerely doubt that you need to go to the "looney bin," but I absolutely believe that your confusion is as real as it is alarming. These feelings are part of a fairly common reaction to a significant trauma and long-term displacement. I refer to this as the "Rip Van Winkle effect." I'm familiar with it because I've been there -- I, too, lost my home (and everything) in a natural disaster. Though these kinds of emotional effects often outlast the hardship period, it will get better. You might consider some therapy for education and support. So that makes it glitch vs. psychosis = 3:0, as I agree with the others that you must have just tuned in to a repeat airing of an older episode somehow. Check out your local library as an option that's free. They may have the prior seasons for you to borrow, or they may be able to arrange an inter-library loan for you. Wishing you the best...
  7. Thanks, yuggapukka. As you suggested, the AMC site wasn't working for me. I found it on youtube:
  8. Seriously! I cringed every time! Thanks for the lolz.
  9. Absolutely loving every single moment of this rapidly developing shitstorm. In fact, the quality, pace, and scene transitions in this ep brought me right back to my favorite TVshow of all time--Deadwood. How awesome is that?! I'm reminded of my excited anticipation as I waited for Justified's first season to begin. So, so sad to see it go as well.
  10. Did anyone else pick up that the journals said "C.B." rather than "P.B.?" I wonder if they belonged to his mother. He seemed somewhat disconnected from them. Who else could it be? The scene jumps from those to Katie's journals. Could it be Caterina Benedetto?
  11. I thought you all might also enjoy the "blurtlander" recaps (I haven't seen any links to them so far)-- they're pretty racy and absolutely hilarious! http://thats-normal.com/2014/09/things-husband-says-durng-outlander-wedding/ Peacefrog, I heard that we should expect an April return from hiatus. ETA: Actually, I think I found last week's blurtlander funnier, but YMMV.
  12. Wasn't she a therapist, formerly? That could do it. Imagine all the pain she witnessed and the added responsibility to provide care and healing full-time. Add to that a life where she may have already been teetering due to her own experience of 10/14, Kevin's cheating, FIL's psychotic break, and who knows what other things...
  13. Comedy gold, here. Thanks for the lolz!
  14. Or maybe she'll mercy-kill Bill? Lol. You might be onto something though, as far as them bringing that up...
  15. He licked the sheriff's card and handed it back to him. I don't think that'll qualify as a sample, and he apparently shamed Claggett enough in that interaction that he hasn't returned for the real thing. I think Trey did it. He is clearly amoral, and why else would he be going though all these orchestrations?
