  1. Considering I believe that in the end that the defendant said the horse was running from the bear, one could possibly assume the fence had just been destroyed.
  2. I think the indication that he was a poor HOA president is that he was voted out. It's been my experience people are very happy to keep someone who wants to be on the HOA board on that board unless they are a problem.
  3. I suspect most gang members went beyond a 16 box of crayons in school.
  4. We just fast forward it through the slow motion walking and tattooing to the tattoos. It saves so much time on Tuesday.
  5. I thought he said yoshino cherry, the other was a wax myrtle.
  6. If the goal is just to produce animals, they could just artificially inseminate the all of the females regardless on whether they are the alpha dog, then raise the puppies via surrogate, however the none alpha females would have to be removed from the pack and perhaps just kenneled and would lose the whole pack structure. I suspect just like other wild animals painted dog puppies learn to be painted dogs from their mother and other members of the pack. In the end you might have a lot of genetic painted dogs but you have lost the essence of what they are. They will be like those Bronx elephants seemingly happy in their existance but not understand how to be elephants in a herd. Perhaps the zoos know their business and are about raising painted dogs as painted dogs and keeping things like pack structure viable so someday perhaps they could be reintroduced in the wild.
  7. But notice those pups were not returned back to the pack in OKC Zoo, probably because they wouldn't be recognized by the others as pack members. It sounds like the move to LA made them their own pack.
  8. We are building a house right now in a developer. Granite is yesterday's news-quartz is the new high end counter tops. It seems that at least the price point we are in. For the record, we are putting in formica because anyone who buys the house after us will want to put their own 'stamp' on it and if you ever watch HH you know the stuff lasts forever. Carpet because we are tired of seeing our poor dogs trying to get traction on current laminate floors carpet can be changed out easier than tile and feels better on bare feet, and black appliances because if judging from the house we are currently renting basic builder appliances will last just slightly shorter than cockroaches and twinkies. We tell them at the design center we are the anti-HGTV homeowners. I think they find us bemusing in that 'old folk' kind of way.
  9. I wish Ink Master would take a page from this show. You don't need all that assholery to make a good show.
  10. I was annoyed with Josh's indication that he had invented the glue gun when we have seen it before done by Justin LeBlanc in the Glamping challenge.
  11. Oak Island has been settled by Europeans since the 1750's (according to wiki) and who knows how many crossed its shores before then. You are going to find all sorts of signs that people have been there for centuries. Native Americans/First Nations traded freely so even if a coin predates when people have known to have settled it doesn't mean that it couldn't have been have come from an earlier European settlement. The careless way people have bulldozed, dug and explored the land means that bits of human bones could have come from forgotten burials. In all of the years this show has been on, they have not discovered one thing that proves there was ever a treasure on Oak Island
  12. I thought it was a bearded lady-in keeping with the location they were tattooing.
  13. I wouldn't call it gross but Kohlepp is disturbing in the Ted Bundy sort of way. It makes you feel vulnerable to know that someone who seems so ordinary can be so sick.
  14. I am afraid I can no longer find the snarky joy I used to feel for this show. I record every episode watch a couple minutes and then delete the rest. It seems that they just keep digging holes and returning to the same old, same old stories on the possible origins of the treasure.
  15. I think so many people got caught up with heritage as country you come from when it could have meant place you come from as well I am a Midwesterner, that white bread all American who have lost a lot of touch with the foods of the country of origin because it was either so long ago or pounded out of existance by the pressures of society to be "American." However, midwestern cooking can be as unique as southern cooking, California or any other regional food in this country.
  16. The twins were too old to rely on being 'precious.'
  17. Cool! I would really love to hear more about your work but this is not the place. I have a huge interest in battlefield archaeology and particulary Douglas Scott's work. so you can perhaps understand why I consider finding artifacts in situ is so important. It could be I was confused when watching the show but I see to recall that the permit that they had from the Canadian government limited their work to just certain parcels on Oak Island and yet they seem to have been all over the place which might pique the government's interest. I will have to pull the episode out of my Tivo trash bucket and watch it again.
  18. It's not laughable. There are at least 2 things going on, either the TV crew are planting artifacts or they are finding artifacts-either one should be investigated to make sure they are operating in the scope of their permit. And for the record, their methods can in no way be considered a form of archaeology. They are like so many others who go to historic spots and remove things that should have been left alone, in place so people who know what they are doing can remove them and put them in historic context.
  19. It's Texas-no basement and they actually use the garage for two cars. I can't stress enough the number of very large inflatables they have (corner lot) and for every holiday possible. Plus inflatables there are lights and decorations for the house and trees. Seriously I didn't not know there were inflatables for Valentines Day, 4th of July, St. Patrick's Day, and Cinco de Mayo until we moved here. They have to have a huge storage area somewhere. I think that Bill and Jen have the right idea-rent them and hire someone to do the decorating.
  20. My neighbors already have their huge inflatables up-both Thanksgiving and Christmas plus they have been up for weeks. Where do people store those things off season.
  21. Maybe in Maryland but warsh is relatively common in large areas of the country. Sometimes I wish people would stop paying so much attention to dialects and colloquialisms. We all talk differently.
  22. I was bullied as well. I kind of sometimes view it as part of growing up, it hurts but it has made me who I am today and I am pretty comfortable with myself. I would have loved to protected my kids from being bullied but again, it will be one of the pillars that they will build their life stories on and become strong from it. Kids can always find something to bully over and it seems like it will never be the things you prepare yourself and them for. The only time though I ever went to the school though was when my daughter was bullied by a teacher but it was like facing a brick wall. I was told he was old, respected and would retire in a year or so and they didn't want to hurt career but they would 'talk' to him. I asked daughter if she wanted me to go further and she didn't, so I felt I should respect her wishes. At time time she was struggling with her differences and she didn't want us to be labeled as 'one of those families.' (It was not of a sexual nature or I would have started with the cops and gone both up and down rattling chains, believe me).
  23. You do realize that your short direction is longer than the one you give as Jen's being too long. (grin) Besides I think the best way to teach kids the right way to talk is to use the words you want them to use like adding the words please and thank you. Of course my kids are now 18 and 21 so I am beginning to forget their absolute brat stages and they are now fading into the perfect children. Heck, who am I kidding my kids had more than their share of moments I wanted to strangle them for, usually when they were tired, had an audience, in a store or on camera but I was just fortunate it wasn't on a national TV show. The bullying message on this show is important and can't be emphasized enough. My kids were bullied from kindergarten on for any number of reasons, with each child. As a parent, it is painful every time it happened and every time has to be handled slightly different depending on the ages of both the kid and the bullies. Bullying comes from so many places, (ignorance, pain, fear...) that the best we can do for our kids is to teach them how to react with strength and dignity.
  24. Did anyone else see the irony between today's first case and the second. One a teen complaining because dad expecting him to do chores and the other an adult man complaining because his housemates expected him to do chores? The mother of the first case should have taken note because she was in the process of creating the adult in the second case.
  25. I am unsure if they got that house (why otherwise would the home owner allow them to film on his property) If they didn't get that property, I suspect they already have a house located or even built and were just in the final stages of closing a contract. I tend to find it hard to believe that they would move into a hotel unless it was for a rather short time, otherwise they would have found a short term apartment rental.
