I don't recall it being stated but it seemed as if they were drifting apart.  The last I saw them together they were sitting on a bus, looking like complete strangers. Stevie seemed to be busy and the guy hasn't been around.

I recall the scene with them both on the bus as well, but I believe there was a mention on screen by Bess in a later episode about their engagement. It seems odd how the writers have handled their story after Stevie started working for Russell.

  4. Two ExecP's (Stoltz, Freeman) in the same episode? Maybe Barbara Hall makes a cameo appearance as well. I wonder if sister Talia becomes recurring since Dmitri will be working with Henry in DC. What happened to Jared/Stevie relationship? Did I miss something from last season.

  5. Madam Secretary Season 4 Episodes (22):

4x1  - Oct 8,2017    -  "News Cycle" - When the assistant vice minister of Timor-Leste suddenly dies during a meeting with Elizabeth on the first day of the U.N General Assembly, she becomes suspicious after the president of Timor-Leste ships the body back without a proper investigation. Also, a "fake news" story surfaces claiming Elizabeth is responsible for the minister’s death, and Dmitri returns to work with Henry.

    4x2  - Oct 15,2017  -  "Off the Road"

    4x3  - Oct 22,2017  -  "The Essentials"

    4x4  - Nov 5,2017   -  "Shutdown"

    4x5  - Nov 19,2017 -  "Persona Non Grata"

Sounds as if they regret making Elizabeth the main character. She is, unless they change the title.

I'm just saying that if they radically re-work the show -- like fire Téa and make it all about Henry, for instance -- then who knows if it would be a huge success or die?  A radical redesign and all bets are off!

From CP Entertainment: “Henry will take on more dangerous missions with the Special Activities Division in the new season. Elizabeth, who has yet to adjust to her husband's new position, had a brief breakdown last season, especially when she was the last to learn of Henry's assignments. He specifically kept her in the dark, knowing how she would react……It looks like viewers will be seeing Henry become a risk-taker, something that his wife will definitely not like. Elizabeth may even use her position to keep her husband in check, going as far as to asking Dalton to stop Henry from accepting dangerous missions. The president will not take kindly to Elizabeth's controlling nature since she is allowing her emotions cloud her judgment as a patriot.”

Ah. My guess was End of Series Life. I think this show will get at least one more season after the one that's about to start.

Seems very unlikely. IMO. As @Netfoot posted, a shortened season 4 seems more realistic. The winter hiatus might be the end of the series. Look for Bess and Henry to start talking about life after SoS very soon into the season for a clue about end timing.

That football keeps eyeballs on screens, which is what the networks want. The advertisers are their audience; we are only the product that they deliver to that audience. [/cynical]

"NFL ratings dropped in 2016 (8%), and in an attempt to fix the problem, Fox Sports will reportedly experiment with six-second advertisements alongside their traditional 15- and 30-second spots. According to a report by The New York Times, Fox Sports is attempting to make the six-second advertisement an ´industry standard´."

Probably not on Dec 17 and 31. Judging from past seasons, I would guess that they'd go on break the week before Dec 17?

My point was that many episodes will miss the 10PM start during the early fall and during November sweeps. My cable provider has a 'CatchUp' feature which allows customers to view shows from previous three days. The DVR time splits will not be an issue for me, but the SD+LIVE ratings will not be helped by so many late starts. What was CBS thinking?

Well with football, it'll start at 10:30 or later. Looks like we'll be DVRing and watching another night. (The curse of CBS Sunday night shows...Good Wife, The Mentalist, et al...)

CBS NFL scheduled Doubleheaders for upcoming season which moves MS start to 10:30PM (at least):

    Oct 15, Oct 22, Nov 5, Nov 19, Nov 26, Dec 17, Dec 31

I doubt they'll do that. They've been there, done that, in my opinion, in S1. (When Bess suspected he had an affair). And they had ample opportunity to do it in S2. I'm usually rather pessimistic when it comes to that, but I don't think that any of the show runners or the two leads would be on board with that. (It's probably part of the reason why they buried it at 10: too few drama in that regard ;-))

The Henry comment was just a little sarcasm on my part. That won't happen. The "Passage" episode about the trip to India and the chemical spill was one of the better early MS episodes.  In fact, it is still listed as the top rated episode of the series outside the pilot.

Here in CT it's 9pm, but I still rarely stay awake through an entire episode of anything at that time. I may have to record it or watch it online later. Even the  3am is better than 9pm for me. Plus, I really don't like soap operas. Sigh. What have they done to my show?

Things are headed that way given what happened in the personal lives of Jay, Nadine, Daisy last season. Maybe Henry will have an affair or Stevie gets pregnant. Not what I expected for probably the last season.

They can be and would be just as good at 10 p.m. :-)

MSec also seems a better fit for 60 Minutes and then it could provide a lead-in to the new show at 9 and then NCIS LA could be at 10. Problem solved :-) But I guess, we all just have to hope for the best and that MSec isn't doing too badly. I guess that Hall has that contract with CBS to develop other shows (I think, two more, so now that the CIA drama is in the works, one more?) could give a little hope.

MS was perfect at 8PM when the series started. I wonder how many MS episodes will actually start at 10PM. The overruns from football always effect the DVR schedule which then causes the last program recording to overflow into the news. It becomes a pain to watch split recordings later that night or next day.  MS will need DVR viewers to keep it going. IMO.

Glad they moved the family show to 10 p.m., we wouldn't want all the shooting of NCIS LA be shown too late, would we?! ;-) (And yes, I am sarcastic. I'm just still annoyed that they moved MSect to 10 with as harmless a show as it is. It's an 8 p.m. show)

I feel your pain about the 10PM late start, but those NCIS LA shootout scenes with Kensi and Deeks on location are the best as well as following their ongoing romance in the workplace.  CBS needed the 8PM slot for new programming.

@VinceW, no need to spoiler tag since this thread is already tagged with spoilers meaning people who don't want to be spoiled, enter at their own risk.

Point taken, but at the time of the postings, 'NCIS in the Media' thread was on top and I lost my place with two tabs open. As far as the photos, the screen shots have been out there for a few weeks.

Hi, new here, just joined......And with that faith, I'm hoping for a strong, believable Bishop heading the search. Maybe she's one of those people who only lead (or shows leadership qualities) when they absolutely have to.  Guess we'll see.

Welcome to the board!  Gibbs trusts her sleuthing skills ever since Bishop came over to the team from NSA. Bishop was a big factor in searching for a terrorist Benham Parsa and she was instrumental finding his associate Bashir Malik after the drone strike that injured Delilah. Gibbs did pick her first over Torres to go to Paraguay as  well.

  18. Spoiler

It looks like viewers get a prisoner story after all. There are photos out there on the web showing both Gibbs and McGee as prisoners. The last scene with the standoff against the rebels seemed hopeless, but if they are still alive, it seems likely that their captor is the person who was buying the uranium from the rebels. What happened to the Navy backup?

  19. 8 hours ago, kwnyc said:

Morgan Freeman a "token"? I think not.

His role as a Supreme Court Justice means nothing to the stories especially last season when the writers had Freeman meet Bess by chance at a restaurant while she was jogging in order to tell her how he voted.  His scenes are nothing more than token appearances given his stature as one of the Executive Producers.

TV Line: Ask Ausiello, August 2, 2017

    (I kinda wish I hadn't read it....)

    Spoiler

The last scene in the finale doesn't really allow for any kind of 'take them prisoner' story, but rather the local military rescues Gibbs and McGee. Both agents stay in Paraguay working with officials to uncover who is buying the uranium from the rebels. We will never see the rescue. It doesn't seem likely that viewers will see much of Tim and Delilah's interaction during her pregnancy which is unfortunate. IMO.

Looks like Morgan Freeman could be directing the S4 premiere, too.

Since this is season 4, I wonder if Morgan will put himself in 4 irrelevant scenes this time around . His token appearances add nothing to the show. IMO.

.......I hate the scorched earth endings, so this one was awesome.  Life goes on.  It's funny, I always said Castle was my favorite series of the two, but I find I watch Bones re-runs all the time, but I don't watch Castle re-runs.

I feel the same way about Castle. So disappointing the way the last two Castle seasons were handled by the network over the ongoing angst between the co-stars.  I doubt that I will ever invest that much in a TV show again. The Castle show runner (Marlowe) enjoyed poking fun at the Bones series whenever he had the chance, but Bones handled the ending beautifully and the Booth/Brennan relationship made the show a big success. I still listen to 'Almost Home' when I get a chance to keep in touch with the Bones series.

I feel just the opposite. ER is so bland and emotionless.  It didn't bother me on L&O because I saw her as a detached ADA (whether she was supposed to be or not). But, here she was supposed to be worried, and then upset, about her colleague and his horse, and I got nothing.

ER was at her worst on The Last Ship (TNT).  When she took over as faux US President at the end of last season, her role was so contrived that she just ruined the finish. I skip any of the L&O with her as ADA.

I'm glad she's leaving as I didn't care for the actress and the show was loaded with too many characters.

There are too many agents working on just one case at times, but neither Torres or Bishop is the answer. Alex had good chemistry with Gibbs, but not so much with the others.  IMO.

Oh, I knew that they had been with the show for many, many years, but I didn't know it had been from Day One.  However, I still stand by my original point.  They have been a part of NCIS, but it has not ever been "theirs" to do with as they choose.  They has always been executing someone else's vision, be that person Bellasario, Breenan, or Glasberg.  I think we have yet to see what their vision is, but we will see it this season.

I just have to caution that the same thing was said about Marlowe when he left Castle series early. The two writers that took over as show runners just ruined the finish. However, that show had outside forces working against them because the co-stars had serious personal issues with each other.
