Abby’s exit from #NCIS is in two parts. May 1 and May 8th. I worked really hard to give you my best. I really hope EVERYONE tunes in. Bless

    From next-episode.net:

    15x21 May 01, 2018 "One Step Forward"

Sara Carter begs Gibbs to investigate her mother’s murder as she believes the local authorities convicted the wrong man. Also, Abby is awarded a dinner reservation for two to a brand-new five-star restaurant in an igloo and has to decide which coworker deserves to go with her.

    15x22 May 08, 2018 "Two Steps Back"

    Spoiler

"When evidence reveals an NCIS team member is a hit man’s latest target, the team must search through old case files to determine who is seeking vengeance."

Really......Abby goes into Witness Protection? That is her exit!

........ At this point, I can't understand why TPTB thought that dragging this out for the remainder of the season was a good idea because it's not. I doubt most of us care about the bones and certainly don't care about Liz getting revenge for Tom......

As for the "B" plot, yes, the pretty much accidentally stumbled onto this killer.  Even I know things like this happen even in the U.S. I still find it sick and disturbing but somehow The Blacklist doesn't exactly seem like the best way to get that out there although I guess something is better than nothing.

Samar: “According to this (underground chat room), over 700 million women worldwide were married as minors to adult men”.

Aram: “ Half our states have no age limit. More than 200,000 American children were married in the last 15 years. Apparently, all that's needed is parental consent or judicial approval”.

At first, I was taken back watching the scene with the team that included these comments because I was sure that the child marriage numbers were an exaggeration put forth by the writers to further the blacklist case, but according to the latest UNICEF statistics, these numbers are accurate which is just really troubling. However, according to UNICEF, child marriage numbers are now falling. UNICEF estimates that 25 million child marriages have been prevented in the past decade.

I would never have expected this kind of story to be part of a ‘Blacklist’ episode, but rather something that might show up in the ‘Madam Secretary’ series given that child marriages are more prevalent in foreign countries. The problem is most severe in Africa. The child marriage twist was a worthwhile distraction from the ongoing bones-in-duffle-bag plot which has been lost on most viewers after all this time.

This episode really made me wonder if Blake is who she appears to be. She was laying it on so thick with the earnest, saccharine, schmoopy speechifying, and thus far, she can appear to do no wrong (albeit in a totally bland, boring kind of way). At this point, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she betrays Roman in some way, either revealing that she's all in with her father's evilness (hence the joint schmoopfests that stopped just short of the three of them holding hands and bursting into a rousing rendition of "We Are Family"), or as mentioned ^^ that she's some sort of law enforcement asset/spy/whatever. (Either of those scenarios would actually make it possible that the text messages of doom to the assassins were a misdirect of some sort, and we wind up seeing a flashback that shows that message came from Blake [or Crawford, or both] and Roman was doing...something else.)

She gave herself away when she acted upset on the plane and rushed away to get a drink.  I am sympathetic to Roman's family backstory, but still hard to believe he would kill his sister. He is being played by Blake and the relationship is just a ruse. IMO.

I think the end game is Sergeant Voight being brought to justice.  NBC can't guarantee future seasons but Wolf may have enough good will that he gets the head up that this will be it. So every season will have that legal monster hanging over his head ready to drop when Wolf gets the word that a  cancellation order is coming down. As they have already replaced squad members here and there and some others might get sacrificed to the story before the last series finale.

Voight always supports his team when things get personal for any team member. Voight leaving the show seems very unlikely. IMO.

    Spoiler

    Episode 18 Mar 21, 2018 Ghosts
Upton brings back an old undercover identity to help take down a meth ring spearheaded by a former criminal contact. And with pressure from Woods mounting, Voight calls in a favor for Olinsky.

.....taking down some of the biggest criminals in Chicago, the PD Intelligence squad.

Biggest criminals seems an exaggeration.  The torture extremes only come into place when it becomes personal.  Olinsky (daughter);  Voight (son Justin murdered);  Antonio (son kidnapped); Burgess (sister sexual assault)   The surveillance cameras installed in the cage room has ended the in house torture for the most part this season.  Voight and Olinsky are old school; Run from a cop, you get a beating. Shoot at a cop, you get killed.

So I guess that's the end of the Ruzek storyline then, Woods has moved on, Ruzek is off the hook and we will never hear about the sister again.

I don't blame Al for being pissed off with Voight, he's covered his ass on more than once over the years I am tipping and that's the thanks he gets...I'd be happy for Al to hang him out to dry tbh.

And yes, Woods has been around far too long.....I guess we've got what? 4 more episodes of this nonsense to go.

Agree. Olinsky has helped cover up the Voight 'street tax' fund over the years. Olinsky is in trouble now because he helped Voight move the body of his son's killer.  He had nothing to do with the original killing. Erin is at risk as well because she tried to stop Voight from the revenge killing. Voight made the killer dig his own grave before his self confession, but the body had to be moved later after Erin realized the location was uncovered by the brass while she was under surveillance.  Voight is the one who needs to fix things in order to keep Olinsky from trouble.  It can't all be about protecting Erin at this point.  I am sure Voight realizes that and he will call in a favor to get rid of the evidence.

    Finally, some progress....

    Spoiler

    Episode 17 -  April 04, 2018  Anna-Gracia Duerte
When an associate of the Nash Syndicate is murdered, Red sets Liz and the Task Force on the case in order to recover evidence crucial to bringing down Ian Garvey. Meanwhile, Aram considers a step forward in his relationship with Samar.

The romance continues in the workplace. Samar kisses henpecked Aram while he is wearing a hazmat suit. Just a subtle reminder that our couple is so much in love now.

McGee was beyond idiotic. I am tired of them killing his character's brain cells. It's like the writers they have now don't realize how smart he is.  Seriously, stepping out of a doorway...and then leaving McGee alone in the apartment? Really NCIS? I wanted to like this episode but it was so frustratingly dumb in spots I couldn't....although Fornell and Gibbs made it watchable...Yeah, a spin off please....

I also noticed NO interaction between Gibbs and Abby again......not sure what they are doing there...and no hint of how Abby will leave the show.

A real nonsensical and tortured premise in order for the writers to give viewers some kind of update on McGee and his ghost family life taking care of the twins.  McGee would move his disabled wife and twin babies out of his home to accommodate a criminal case? Makes no sense. Once again, Fornell easily ambushed and overtaken by the bad guys. The whole season has been overdone with a designated profile link to every case. IMO.  I am hanging on for now to watch the Abby departure.

With that said, I feel that now (with nothing to lose) Danny will blame Hank for his daughter's death and the inaction he feels led to it and come after him harder.

Voight stopped Danny from rushing into the lounge in order to avoid a slaughter inside, but Voight let Danny decide about giving the suspects a car. Antonio did his part by getting the suspects started on negotiations for a getaway car. The daughter was just headstrong over her feelings for the boy friend which led her to the lounge after the father trashed the boy friend and their future together. Antonio warned the girl not to run once she was taken outside no matter what happens. I don't see what else the team could have done except it did look like Halstead had a shot at both of them once the suspects reached the car especially the suspect holding Antonio, but the girl ran and events went sideways fast.

He didn't call Ruzek specifically.  He called his own phone (remember they recovered both his personal and work cell phones from the car), and it was a number he could dial from memory, which I think rules out someone's burner which would change all the time.  He was taking a chance that the women wouldn't answer the phone, but he could just tell them to get the "man" on the phone if Burgess or Upton answered.

(cell phone buzzing) Ruzek: "That's my UC phone. Maybe it's a tip. You know?"

(cell phone buzzing continues; he picks up phone) Ruzek: "Yeah"

    Atwater: "Hey. A.D."

(Ruzek knocking on his desk) Atwater: "A.D. What's up man?"

I thought it was a good episode.  I'm glad Dimitri/Stevie is over so that the show can get back to what it's supposed to be and yet it was different from the usual "crisis de jour".  I would have liked to have seen it play out over several episodes (and maybe it will) - because I think the dynamic between Russell, Elizabeth and the VP (acting as President) would be interesting.....

I very clever twist put forth by the writers on the issue of the 25th amendment as it applies to the President unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office which then empowers the Vice President and his cabinet to declare a President “incapacitated".

The 25th Amendment, Section 4, Option:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”

However, the extent the writers went to get Dalton acting so out of character was overdone. IMO. After the Cabinet coup meeting, the writers went to the Dalton "brain tumor' card in order to make his recovery easier after the hiatus.

I was wondering the same thing and checked Futon Critic and they list likely repeats for the month of February due to the Olympics, so it looks like there won't be a new episode before March. Either the first or the second Sunday in March.

Per the 'Next Episode' web site: 4x13 will air Mar 11, 2018; Enjoy the Winter Olympics.

...I actually want her to run and I want that to be how they'll end the show, that she resigns so that she can campaign. Since, as I said above, I don't believe the show will be around for another three seasons, I think it's a perfect way to end it before Conrad's second term is up. I do want sort of an epilogue though, with Bess being sworn in, I'm greedy like that ;-)

As far as a reboot as "Madam President" is concerned, I would like to see that but I doubt it'll happen...

Agree. The ongoing 'Elizabeth for President ' mantra that has been prevalent for weeks now points to that kind of finale because the series will end after this season. IMO. If the series was going to run past this season, I doubt that viewers would have been given so many early revelations in recent episodes on her possible ambitions for President. Really, how else can it end since the SoS position only persists at the wishes of the President in power.

....Other shows, like Bones, have had the leads marry and even have kids. It can and does work.

Unlike Bones, it was disappointing the way the last two Castle seasons were handled by the network over the ongoing angst between the co-stars.  The Castle show runner (Marlowe) enjoyed poking fun at the Bones series whenever he had the chance, but Bones handled the ending beautifully and the Booth/Brennan relationship made the show a big success. I still listen to 'Almost Home' when I get a chance in order to keep in touch with the Bones series.

But then they would have actually had to remember he had siblings and they would have to show them every now and again and we can't have that can we. We know every family member has to leave one way or the other. Now they don't have to worry about Atwater's pesky family and they can get back to writing other random OCC nonsense. I guess we should just be happy they didn't leave in a body bag.

This is so true about families in so many of the cop procedural stories on the network. As far as adult relationships, the writers go no further than will-they-or-won't-they as long as possible until the whole story becomes ambiguous.

I thought they would have at least one parting picture or something (I do like a cheery montage).  Was surprised that he wasn't on paternity leave or something through the holidays.

The McGee family life now seems to be lost on the writers since the big buildup to the wedding and twin announcement. No after thought on screen now about what lies ahead for McGee with his new responsibilities. A new mother at home, disabled, confined to wheelchair with 4 week old twins and no mention about some level of outside care being provided to the McGee household to help care for the twins. McGee babbling at work about taking a case near the holidays, but seems totally oblivious to what Delilah might be going through at home with the twins. Makes no sense.  I enjoyed Delilah as an accomplished intelligence analyst working cases with the team, but all that history now seems lost for future episodes since the takeover by the new show runners after the passing of Gary Glasberg.

  22. The landmine message invoked by the writers in this episode brought back fond memories of the mission by Diana, Princess of Wales to rid the world of landmines. It was interesting to watch Elizabeth take on Diana's persona while persisting with her staff about the danger to children much the same as Princess Diana did in her charity work.  Lady Diana was obsessed with the issue while traveling the globe for many years until her tragic death. This year is the 20th anniversary of Diana walking through a partially cleared mine field in Angola as the world watched on TV. At that time, negotiations on the Mine Ban Treaty were ongoing and Diana’s visit to the minefield and her subsequent advocacy helped galvanize public opinion against anti-personnel landmines. The landmine story was overshadowed quickly with the ‘Elizabeth for President’ mantra which was unfortunate after such a good start to the episode.

The Henry CIA spying on US congressmen stuff has pretty much run off course after the odd revelation that a US Senator was the culprit behind the leaks.  It seems probable that Stevie will find out the truth about Dmitri before he takes her to bed.  However, if that would happen, Henry would likely put out his own marker on Dmitri before the Russians get a chance to kill him.

Relax; It was just speculation on my part. She might help Ruzek with the sister legal issue as well.

How likely is this, though? I'm sure Ruzek didn't hire her formally or give her a retainer, so it's not a question of attorney-client privilege in the strictest sense, but it seems somewhat indiscreet even so for her to run to his boss about Ruzek's "friend." Would Ruzek even choose someone Voight was likely to know? (I didn't recognize the character giving Adam legal advice, so I don't know if there's any history there.)

There is no lawyer/client privilege between a cop and an attorney acquaintance discussing a hypothetical situation.  The greeting between them at the start of the meeting does suggest some kind of personal/professional history and she is somebody he can trust. The scene was more about Ruzek coming to grips with his legal consequences over turning against Voight..

  25. 4 hours ago, Sandman said:

.....the favor Voight needed from Judge Tommy will involve making Ruzek's troubles go away -- but the one thing I figured for sure was that Judge Tommy offed Bartender Vance, because you don't hire John Pankow for a walk-on...

I wonder if the woman who gave legal advice to Ruzek during the bar conversation provided the heads up to Voight about what was really behind Ruzek's troubles. I think that Voight knew about the Woods setup beforehand which explains Voight openly keeping the cash found at the murder scene.
