I wonder if that also might explain some of those letters of support (though not the language of some of them, 'cause yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, no, there is no "temptation" involved in sexually abusing a child).

To be honest, I'm still burning with rage over the language in some of those letters. I mean my god! 'That poor adult who was pushed into temptation by a child he could no longer resist.' For shame people, for shame. Also? GROOOOOSSSS!

I was on some site reading about this show and someone in the comments said he had worked in the entertainment biz a long time and worked with a lot of people and no one creeped him out more than Dan Schneider.  I gotta say Schneider is creeping me out just watching this.

but I got the vibe that Brandi may... not be with us anymore?

I'm watching the whole thing right now and I too got that vibe. I hope not but only her mom is interviewed (at least so far) and I don't get a good feeling about it.

I'm far too old to have watched any of these Nick shows but I read Jeannette McCurdy's book and when I saw an ad for this I knew I'd have to watch.

The scariest part about this documentary is that there were some kids whose parents were actually trying to look out for them and keep them safe.

Yeah I have to say at least Drake Bell's dad knew something was up and warned his ex wife. At least Bell's mom called the police when he told her. And even his gf's mom was trying to get him help.

I know terrible stuff goes on in Hollywood all the time but this is tough to watch.

Sheila was your birth mother, as you've told us eleventy billion times just since last week, but in most scenes we saw of her prior to her unfortunate collision with Steffy's knife she was either threatening your family, someone you loved, or you, yourself, when she wasn't busy shooting at you. So watching you wallow in all this anguish over someone with whom you had the strongest connection when you were still attached to her umbilical cord is, shall we say, a little WEIRD?

So much this. Yes, Sheila was his birth mother but he didn't know her at all. Were there tons of bonding scenes that I somehow FF'd through?!? He watched her shoot Steffy and himself point blank. Then once his mom saved his life, Sheila nearly killed him again by holding him hostage.

I mean come on. I know people tend to forget all the bad stuff about a person when they die, but this is ridiculous. Plus even if he didn't want to take everyone's else's word about Sheila's past, there is this thing called google and the internet!

I am sooooooooo sick of the tongue baths Luna is getting from everyone.

I hate when soaps do this. It's stupid and boring. Much like the Luna and RJ pairing.

When is Eric going back to the office? I know a lot of people got tired of his story line, but I was really into it. I'd like it if they'd check in on his recovery from time to time and then bring him back to the office.

Currently, this show is incapable of balancing more than one story at a time. I'm not sure why.

I think of all of Steffy's relationships, her best chemistry (maybe only) was with Bill. The show should have had the balls to stick with that. I would agree that current Ridge and KA Taylor had more chemistry than he has with KKL, but KA and KKL had more together than with him!

RJ and Luna are dull and chemistry free for me. Sadly the show seems determined to push them. I think the actors playing Thomas and Hope do have chemistry but them being together makes no sense given his past actions regarding her. Thomas is just problematic period.

  5. It's a wonder Sonny isn't struck lightning the moment he steps foot into a church or chapel.

Anna heard about Sonny and Karen and still boo hoo's with him over Dante? Make it stop already. A mob boss is not a good guy and is not a man of the people.

You know what would be refreshing? If characters didn't act like people coming back from the 'dead' was impossible or shocking. I mean come on at this point how many Port Chuck citizens have done this?!?

I am team Jagger all the way. Those scenes with Sonny were gold.

  6. The first episode available on the app is from 1967, the first day of Dr Karen from Germany. She met Dr Anger in the Chief of Staff office and Dr Anger picked a fight with her. Later Dr Anger got into a physical fight with another dr over Althea ... I think.

I'm used to slower moving older soaps and enjoy them very much. I've been watching Dark Shadows too.

  7. I have never watched this show but I see the episodes are on the it's real good tv app. The app doesn't work on my roku (the ad before the episode starts works just fine and then it crashes) but does work fine on my apple tv. I think it will be fun to explore an old soap which has to feature better writing than anything on the shows currently left. At least I hope so. I'll post more once I get a few episodes watched. I sure hope someone will be here!!

I’m not a fan of Shiela but they act like she’s Godzilla.

But ... that's exactly who she is! Sheila shot and almost killed Steffy and Finn not that long ago. Plus she held Finn captive. Not to mention all of her other crimes. Geez slipping Brooke booze wasn't that long ago either! Why should/would any of these characters give her a break or believe she's been magically changed by Deacon's dick? I no more believe that than I believe Thomas has been changed by the wonder of Hope's va-jay-jay!

    Quote

Sheila being the manipulator she is, she will use anyone and anything as a means to an end.

Exactly. No character on this show or Y&R should ever be treating Sheila like she's a normal because she isn't. I don't think anyone should be getting in her face because she will get revenge.

In fact, I can’t think of any other pairing in this show where I felt the two actors had more romantic chemistry than MA and AN.

They are a meh for me. I mean I'm glad Hope has escaped Liam (for now) but I just do not like her with Thomas.

Of couples currently on screen, I guess they are the best the show has but that is faint praise from me and there isn't much to pick from!

In the past, my favorite Brooke pairing ever was with Thorne. They were awesome. She also had a ton of chemistry with Deacon but that story was pretty icky!!

I loved Wyatt and Katie so naturally it ended. I loved currentRidge and Caroline II, so naturally it ended. I loved Quinn and Carter so naturally it ended. Even Wyatt and Hope were pretty good so naturally it ended. Bill and Katie had chemistry at the beginning but that ended a long time ago. Bill and Brooke were hawt but naturally this show ruined them (remember Bill choosing Skye over Brooke? Skye of course was a building. Good times).

And contrary to popular belief, some of us did not see his actions with malicious intent.

And contrary to perhaps your belief from responses here, I have no issue with your opinion or interpretation with what happened on screen and I respect your opinion.  I just don't happen agree with you overall!

    Quote

The writers wrote what they wrote for one thing only...and that's DRAMA. This is what soap writers are paid to do.

Well sure but my opinion is as paid writers they ought to be able to bring drama to the show without sexual assault. It can't possibly be that difficult, In fact I find this route incredibly lazy. Because this isn't the first time this show has gone down this particular road. It's not even the 2nd time. We are currently at roughly the 6th or 7th time and that's sad and again lazy.

Do I think there was malicious intent in Zende's actions? I never typed that and after thinking about it some, I'd agree and say no there wasn't.

However, he certainly wasn't thinking about RJ or Luna's feelings. He knows without a doubt they are together. He knows without a doubt she has no romantic interest in him. He knows she might consider building a friendship (which for most folks wouldn't mean sex). And yet he did what he did.

    Quote

I just do NOT see what Deacon gets out of being with Sheila

I agree! Sadly it just keeps Sheila around and I really hate that! Free Deacon!

BUT Luna didn't know that she was under the influence at the time.

BUT she knows now and knows she couldn't consent and knows she thought she was with RJ and not Zende and knows why she thought that! And the writers still have her spouting lines about agreeing this was a consensual mistake!

She was drugged, she cannot consent to sex. Period.

And I am sorry but again, Zende is more than aware of her disinterest in him. He is more than aware that she loves RJ. He is more than aware she hasn't shown ANY romantic interest in him. And yet? He had sex with her.

He knew darn well all of that night was out of character. He had to have noticed something wasn't right but let's pretend he didn't notice her being out of it. He still should have wondered wtf was going on. He still should have stopped and thought 'gee this isn't right to do to RJ.' But nope, Zende just had sex with her.

These writers are utterly gross to repeatedly go back to this same type storyline again and again.

The point is that BOTH Zende & Luna AGREE that what happened was a consensual mistake and NEITHER of them are blaming the other. That's all that matters here! You can feel all the outrage you want, but that's not the scenario as agreed by the two involved.

But isn't this just the writers giving themselves an out for this horrid storyline? Just because Luna is agreeing with Zende that it's a consensual mistake, doesn't mean it is consensual. All it means is she is going along with that story and isn't going to get authorities involved. However, legally a person who is under the influence cannot give consent.

    Quote

B&B relies on this dubious consent trope waaaay too much to be entertaining any more, if it ever really was in the first place.

This. Dubious consent is a good way to put it. The characterization of all these scenes as misunderstandings is just incredibility insulting and gross.

And the thing is, it would have been very simple to write the story as Luna feeling torn between these two guys. To her being attracted to both and allow her to have scenes building relationships with both. B&B loves triangles almost as much as sexual assault, so why not just write it as a genuine triangle right from jump?

As it is, sure Zende didn't know Luna was drugged but darn well knew she wasn't acting at all in character. She has been very clear with this dude about her feelings for RJ. Zende absolutely knows Luna is with RJ - that's not been in question - so it is super creepy for him to just jump her bones like he did.

So I asked my friend Google about Ploppy's mints... here's a little article from 24 years ago... "Diviner's Sage" or "Magic Mint" is a rare herb in the mint family that is used recreationally, causes hallucinations, and is not illegal. It is usually smoked or chewed. So I would guess that you can buy candies with the extract in it, just like you can get everything from vitamins to cannabis in the form of a gummie.

Let me first say, I appreciate this information - very interesting! However, I don't believe for a minute these writers spent any time thinking about this or what the drug is going to end up to be. They just thought mints was a good way to confuse things and make this lame arse story come about. Unfortunately, nearly every viewer probably spends more time trying to figure out these story lines than the writers do. And god knows we remember more about the past of the show than they do too.

Also, she was referring to them as mints (when she was alone and looking for them), so apparently, whatever drug she's taking, she was able to get in the form of a mint, which explains why Luna didn't notice that they weren't her mints when popping them. Although I'm still side-eyeing the idea that they would have had to look like her mints and that Poppy keeps them in the exact same kind of container, so that Luna wouldn't notice anything was off.

Perhaps it's such a habit to call them mints for Luna's benefit, she does it when she's alone too. And what drug or medicine would be in the form of a mint?

I side eye the entire thing. It's all dumb which is nothing new for this show.

I marvel that Bell couldn’t simply write a story where Luna dates RJ but also maybe develops an attraction to Zende. Triangles that never end are his thing, after all. RJ and Zende being design rivals could provide conflict.

All of this. So instead of writing a fairly simple triangle, the writers actively chose this route.

    Quote

That isn't consensual. Someone can actively participate in sex and it still not be consensual, when they lack the ability to consent. That's the situation here.

Although is Luna even aware she was drugged? Since we are supposed to believe Luna is dumb enough to mistake medicine for mints then she isn't aware she took medicine, right? The writers probably think this muddies the water enough to cover their butts over rape/assault and boom another misunderstanding is born.

Now she'll run around feeling guilty for cheating on RJ and we're likely going to be enduring months of that conversation before the inevitable WTD plot kicks into gear.

    Quote

If those "mints" are Xanax, then, given the way Poppy pops them like candy, she has a very serious problem.

True which is why they'll probably turn out to be something else.

He didn't know she was on anything. He also didn't know she wasn't seeing him.  He came home to her in his bed, in his house saying she was waiting for him.

I think it was pretty obvious she was out of it. Additionally, he knows damn well she's with RJ and loves RJ. Plus in this age of #metoo, I would hope most of us are hyper aware of our actions in this regard.

But naturally #metoo isn't a thing here in BellLA and the writers keep going back to this same storyline. It's sick and gross.

The writing is also insulting in how this was all setup. As if anyone could take medication accidentally as a mint and not taste the difference! I mean sure I guess the writers expected us to believe Brooke couldn't tell the difference between Ridge and Oliver but come on medication and a mint aren't even close to tasting the same!

This show is just so exhausting in its dedication to stupid and insulting storylines.

Diane, my Diane, I love you dearly pretty much no matter what, but it looks to me like her nose is just that much out of joint because Jack is currently in savior mode for Nikki and Ashley and not her. if Diane is wise, she'll step back and let him do it with no blow back or passive aggressive behavior.

I agree but at the same wasn't it Nikki, Ashley and Phyllis running around plotting against her for however long? I mean, all of that nonsense didn't really go anywhere (true of so many things on this show) but still they were being pretty crappy to her. I can't blame her for feeling a bit put out by Jack in savior mode!

I guess it might be the FF button, but I don't really understand this entire Ashley/Tucker restaurant thing and why is it STILL going on? What is the point?!?

Braeden is still all worked up over my asking about Victor constantly calling Nikki ‘baby’ or ‘sweetheart.’

  18. There are just so many things I don't understand about the writing on this show. So basically Bill spent his youth sleeping around and not using protection since now we have child #3 he never knew about?!? Why this convoluted nonsense when Steffy's child is Bill's and just not revealed yet (I'm firmly of this belief - don't try to take it away from me!).

I loved all the Li stuff with Bill back when he rescued her - why throw that all away for this foolishness? Oh I know The show got rid of Wyatt and so needed an insta kid (for some reason) and here we are. Rather than simply revealing Kelly and then having Bill and Li get together ... the writers change Li into a complete and utter biotch and then introduce her sister. And somehow we are to believe Bill never forgot her despite never mentioning her through all these years and all his various loves of his life. Just make it stop. Also? Please never have her dance in a restaurant again. Please?!?

I don't have a particular issue with Poppy, I just think the writing is awful and ridiculous,

Oh I think Finn is a goner for sure. And I am not happy about it. I do not want Steffy and Liam cha cha cha-ing again or ever again.

Were we just recently bemoaning the child actors on GH?

Maxie learning she has BJ's heart.

OMG! Why are you people so determined to make me cry every day?!? Needless to say, that little girl really pulled off that scene. Wow.

I like the name change from Kelly's to Bobbie's, it seems appropriate.

I feel like Kevin has mixed feelings about Esme. Yes, she's his niece.  but, that's because she's his psycho brother's daughter.

Another thing, no true Mob Kingpin would deliver that kind of beating to a rival and leave him alive to tell the tale. Sonny isn't good enough to lick Tony Soprano's shoes.

Well I mean to be fair, Sonny leads the gummy bear mob and we're supposed to believe the GH mob isn't involved in drugs! GH mob has nothing on any other mob on any other show or movie!!

Nina is a traitor who went against Sonny's family? Good lawd.

I would have preferred a whole ep dedicated to Bobbi. I was never a huge Bobbi fan but she and JZ deserve a big tribute.
