  1. Rogelio #mybrogelio was robbed!!!
  2. "Little heist on the prairie" - this podcast is gold.
  3. "And O'Neill just stands there and watches them like an ***hole"- pretty much cemented that I will be listening to every single one of these episodes. Having also watched this show after school every day of my childhood, this is 100% my jam anyway.
  4. The creepy smile Gabriel flashed at the end when he said he would make sure Philip and Elizabeth could take all the time they needed... I don't know, I got worried for them. I really think I should start monitoring my vital signs during these episodes, they're so tense!
  5. Oh man, I know this show is probably on the verge of getting cancelled, and I was never a big Community fan, but I saw Jim Rash, realized Lowe's character's name, and was just expecting a "Come on, I'm Dean" sing-off. Did I out-meta Grinder?
  6. Sad breakups on this show: Michael + Rogelio >> all other uncouplings.
  7. Fred Savage has real comedy chops. I hope this show doesn't get cancelled, if only so that there might be a chance to see gratuitous shirtless Timothy Olyphant periodically.
  8. I was just casually checking out the show like I normally do- it's almost like an easy listening radio station- funny, doesn't require too much effort, and there's always this nice tinge of nostalgia from watching Fred Savage. Then Timothy Olyphant turned up and I started yelling at my television (in a good way- is that a thing?). I knew the betrayal was going to happen, but it didn't matter because it meant more Olyphant chewing up the scenery. I only hope this is a story arc.
  9. The thing is, it doesn't matter if the words actually came out of her mouth. It is still a tone-deaf title for that episode. I think Kamau-Bell's tweet still stands even if the words came out of Effie's mouth. I know you mentioned that in your earlier post, but I don't know that she needed to clarify that in 140 characters.
  10. Let's check out this quote from Cary Fukunaga, who could easily demolish Jason Mann on the scale of talent in pretty much every category: "Authorship is a tricky notion in filmmaking, in general. And it applies to the film and television making world. I will never for example, put a "film by" credit on my movies. Never have, never will. I don't think it's appropriate to say that when you have so many incredible people participating and putting not only their technical expertise in something, but also their own creative input, and oftentimes putting aside their personal lives to help your vision come to the screen. If you're saying it's your movie, what the fuck have they been doing this whole time?" This is the guy who made Beasts of No Nation, made on digital, though Fukunaga usually shoots on film, because of limitations since he was filming in the jungle. Fukunaga got malaria just prior to shooting, his cinematographer bailed on him so he had to do double duty. Jason Mann would last exactly five seconds under such circumstances, mostly because his head would explode the first time he had to adjust his 'vision' to logistical barriers. Effie is not a perfect human being, that is clear from this last episode, and she definitely tries to hang Mann out to dry at the end of this episode. Yes, she doesn't come out looking great but when you feel like nothing you do is appreciated, that you're not in a team environment, and that you are being set up to take a fall, it's certainly not motivating. But I think it's also very difficult to work with someone who is as dismissive of you as Mann is of Effie. From the beginning, he has not acknowledged her role in this process, made any attempt to relate to her. His approach to everything has been "mine, mine, mine!" and to make it seem like anyone who is not giving him exactly what he wants is not serving his artistic vision and therefore the enemy.
  11. I see what you're saying about the baked-in drama aspect, and undeniably without Mann in there driving everyone insane, it probably would not be as trainwreck-watchable. On the other hand, it's then annoying that Damon and others are always proclaiming that they're picking 'the best' person as the winner of their contestant.
  12. I've changed my mind about this whole show. It is brilliantly infuriating. I just can't tell if this is by design or not. Are they trying to point out how ridiculous the film industry is, or are they actually catering to this manipulative director with unrealistic expectations and no experience?
  13. That ending was so lame. Some pithy remark about reclaiming the city's heart, etc, when the nails are already in the coffin on San Francisco. It was decently done, but it was such a 'shrug' of an ending.
  14. I get where Effie was coming from- it seemed to be partially about her frustration with Mann, but also I've been in that situation where someone goes over your head and it is a problem- it does undermine your role. It would have been nice if Farrelly had thought to include her or give her a heads up *before* meeting with Mann, for that reason (and really, Farrelly with all of his experience should have understood that), and I think she probably could have just said that except she was probably fed up by then.
  15. I tuned in a little late and really thought Scott Grimes was on the show.
