  1. I didn't think she look all that great 14 years ago.  She is obviously trying to look like someone else.

Thank you! I don't think that Brandi looks great in the pictures shown except the full-length picture of her and Eddie but in that photo she has a case of the Lisa Vanderpumps and looks older than she actually was. I never "got it" when people said that Eddie Cibrian left his gorgeous model wife for dog-faced LeAnn Rimes. Now I have seen nicer pictures of Brandi, they were modeling pictures but how hard it is for a glam squad and a photographer with lighting, filters and post-production tricks to make a 22 year old look good?

  2. I was not that all that put out about Brooke possibly being soul crushed by her aunt Kathy's comment. First of all, I suspect that that was a re-created scene, Brooke got engaged in December 2013, got married in early August 2014 and the show started filming in very late June / early July 2014. I doubt if she waited until the last month to start selecting her wedding dress.

Secondly, having a blunt and hyper-critical relative is not a good thing, but at this stage it should not be a surprise that anything could come out of Kathy's mouth. To me if Brooke could not handle Kathy's caustic tongue, then hopefully Kim would not have even invited her to such a personal and special event.

I don't know if Kathy is considered top dog in her family simply because she married Rick Hilton, yeah the Hilton name carries cache, but the deference may come because she is the oldest and an alpha dog. Kyle and especially Kim had already brought status to the family through their acting careers, and then when they came of age they themselves snagged rich husbands.

As already mentioned, not much of the Hilton fortune trickled down to Rick Hilton due to Conrad Hilton leaving most of his fortune to charity, and then the little that was left for the later generations had to be split among numerous heirs. Rick Hilton is definitely rich by most people's standards, but I don't think that he is uber-rich and that a good chunk of his wealth was made because he started his own real estate agency. I don't necessarily think that Mauricio and Kyle are considered second-class citizens in their group because, even though they are not as wealthy, Mauricio is 15-20 years younger than Rick and followed in his footsteps and started his own real estate company. The gap in their wealth and status may be mostly driven by the gap in their ages. To the extent that Kathy and Rick have status that goes beyond them being older, IMO it's because they are the parents of one-time It Girl, Paris Hilton, and I do think that something like that carries a lot of weight with Big Kathy's progeny.

    ETA:

I did get the feeling from Kyle, that renting a private plane is something Mauricio does frequently now. I would go so far as to say that he most likely has an agreement with that company to lease their planes for his RE business, he is now selling high end RE in Mexico as well as throughout California, not just the LA area.

Agree, I have the same feeling.

  3. I think the limos are provided by Bravo/producers to protect the HWs and the public from DUIs. They use limos across the entire HW franchise now.

Of course! Maybe I was not clear, but the point I am making is that we have been seeing these women being driven around in limousines for years and there is not a lot of chatter along the lines, "wow Camille, Adrienne, Kim and Brandi own chauffeured driven limousines," and therefore I don't know why the PTB and Kyle would assume that they would be deemed shady for not providing additional commentary beyond showing the logo of the plane and being greeted by a guy and flashing that he is an executive with a company that has the same name as the logo on the plane.

Another random thought about private planes, like limousines they are scalable, so a limo can range from being a Town Car to a stretch hummer with multiple bars and a home theater system. Likewise a leased private plane can range from well-appointed puddle jumper to a jet decked out with an office and bedroom.

  4. I don't get this. The jet company's name was flashed on the screen, which is the definitive marker that there's something promotional going on there. How is there confusion that Kyle made it seem like it was their personal jet? When Kyle mentioned the yacht this episode, she said that they were renting it as well.

Not only was the logo of the company flashed multiple times, they were greeted by a guy and it flashed on the screen that he was an executive with the company, it did not say he was the pilot or the flight attendant, but an executive with the company. Like someone else mentioned, a couple seasons ago there was a discussion about flying private between Lisa and Yolanda, it was very clear then from the discussion that when the Fosters and Todds flew private but they did not own their planes. I don't know if the show or cast members should have been expected to provide massive exposition on this matter and the fact that it was not shows some kind of shadiness, they've been showing people being driven around in limousines on this show since the first season, and there does not seem to be the incorrect assumption that everyone in the cast from Adrienne and Camille down to Kim and Brandi all own stretch limousine and employ chauffeurs to drive them around.

  6. I suspect that Don Juan is probably more of an Executive Assistant who got the sexy title (TM Lisa Vanderpump) of Manager as a reward for years of service and to make himself and Kandi sound important when he is working on her behalf.  I don't think that he is a talent manager like the people who work out of CAA or IMG, or even a family manager type like Kris Jenner or Sharon Osbourne, I think that he probably is more of the logistics and admin person for Kandi, which is a respectable gig, but he would not be the one setting the vision for Kandi's career and / or executing some intricate strategy to bump up Kandi's career one or more levels.  I don't think there is any shame in Don Juan not being some Hollywood shark, but I don't know if Kandi's career / potential even merits that kind of manager, or if Kandi would be willing to pay / give a cut to for that kind of management.

  7. Of course we have not seen the whole context but it looks like Kim brings it up in a mano a mano argument with Lisa R, as opposed to bringing it up during a civil encounter and then justifying bringing it up as the "elephant in the room" or helping out someone by being a "girl's girl."  We also see in the trailer Lisa R. discussing enabling an addict, so it looks over the course of the season, Kim and Lisa R. are not on good terms with each other.

  9. Brandi is literally stomach-turning. A sixtysomething (to borrow her own creative arithmetic) literally stalking a dude who's told her he's in love with another woman is not cute or zany, it's fucking creepy and pathetic.

When did JR and Brandi become exclusive? I thought he made no bones about having a casual relationship of convenience. Brandi even complained to him on camera that he doesn't include her in his life, have her out with his friends, take her to his social events etc. Now, Brandi wants to turn their one & off again dating into a full blown committed relationship and play the wronged party? Girl please.

I have viewed Brandi as cunning and manipulative for quite some time, but after reading her latest blog, I still think that she is cunning and manipulative but also a full-on psycho... or maybe she does not realize that she needs to up her manipulation game since the sympathy and benefit of the doubt that she got as the cheated on wife and mean-girled new girl has dissipated.

In her blog she says that she considered herself and JR a couple because he told her he was in love with her - this happened around the time of the PR trip during season 3 filming, the question that popped in my head was "were you both standing upright when he said that?" OK maybe he said it, but there were numerous other indicators that they were not an exclusive couple. Forget J.R. and what he was doing, by the way he seems like a total sleazebag, Brandi was dating that ex-football player guy and bragged at the reunion that he could not quit her because of her make out skills. Fast forward to summer 2014 and apparently J.R. and the woman he met when he went to Italy the previous summer has move to "Brandi's town!" In her blog she is using words like "affair" and "other woman" but during this same time span she brags that the mover guy she just met spent the night in her bed and comments on his penis size.

I have to admit Brandi's got me a bit mystified, I do think she is a psycho, but I cannot figure out if her blog is full of psychotic ramblings, or is she so full of hubris that she thinks she can pull the same scams that she did 2-3 years ago and still get away with it.

  10. Are we on Mohammed's 5th child-bride fiancé? I feel like there's a new one every season.

And there's Lisa suckin' up to every fuckin' one of 'em.  Yeah, yeah, sure, sure, Mo ain't a billionaire & they ain't all suckin' up to him -- er, except they all do.  Btw, is Mo's place the size of the Palace of Versailles or Central Park?  I mean shit, maybe I'm alone here, but I fuckin' gasp every time they show dat place.  It looks freakin' ginormous!!

I am not seeing anyone suck up to Mohammed other than Lisa, and with Lisa it's mutual sucking up because he sucks up to her to get air time. I felt bad for him last season when Joyce could not say "oh hell no" fast enough when someone teased that she was one of his conquests.

To me if Mohammed is not a billionaire, he's a hundred-millionaire, which probably means that a lot of people's first inclination will be to be nice to him. He is also generous and when Mohammed comes into the room he is very warm, effusive and complimentary. It's not like these shallow and oft-times bitchy people are being super-nice to some stinky, grumpy guy, they are being nice to a very rich guy who is very nice to them, comes to their events, and is willing to hold filmed events in his fabulous home.

  11. Brandi's feelings are as reliable as my weather guy.

    Sorry Sam Champion!

Like I said no weaves were snatched, and I certainly don't hold it against Lisa for not rolling out the welcome wagon when she met Brandi, and MMV but I don't think that Lisa having a non-wig snatching conversation at a party means that she was among the first to accept Brandi. To me the only person who held out longer than Lisa when it comes to accepting Brandi was Kim.

Given the Cedric situation I don't fault Lisa for keeping her distance, but what has been implied, if not flat out stated, was that Lisa was talking a lot of smack about Brandi to her friends off camera which may have influenced how her friends, which may have been only Kyle, treated Brandi. And just for the record, I do not excuse Kyle for her actions. I remember Camille DMed a Twitter follower, who in turn released the DM, and told him/her that Lisa did not like Brandi or want Brandi on the show or something like that.

  12. I don't think that Brandi thought her first encounter with Lisa was all that pleasant, yeah Lisa and Martin did not snatch her weave, but they felt the need to "discuss" with Brandi her friendship with Cedric. I remember them cutting to a talking head and Brandi making a comment about Lisa along the lines of, "aren't you too old for stuff like this, aren't you like 60?"

  13. My recollection of the Cedric story was that he worked for Ken and Lisa in Europe and became friends with them as well. After Ken and Lisa moved to the States they sponsored Cedric to come to the States and he lived with them and served as a companion for Lisa and served as an extra pair of hands with their business(es).

Re Cedric and Brandi, I don't see there being a problem if Cedric happened to be an old and dear friend of new girl Brandi. To me that should not be held against her, maybe it would be a reason not to be instantly chummy, but not a reason to be antagonistic. Now I have a problem with her faking this friendship with Cedric as a means to get on the show and define herself in relation to the existing cast, by the way I do think that the producers were in on it. To me you can be introduced on the show in a much more benign way like overstating a relationship with an existing Housewife, for example presenting it as if Brandi and Adrienne were friends when they barely knew each other. To me Brandi doing a photo op with Cedric was an act of aggression against an incumbent cast member. Now personally I think that there was more to the story between what went down between Cedric and the Todds - I don't buy that they were a kind-hearted couple who ended up getting taken advantage of and victimized by a grifter. Nevertheless that is the story that they presented to the public and by and large the public bought it, and then here comes some woman, whose claim to fame is that because her husband cheated on her and left her for his mistress, getting photographed with Cedric and gushing about him being her BFF for years and how her kids love him.

I'm inclined to believe that the women actually knew that Brandi was a fake friend of Cedric's versus a real one and a reason why some were initially distant was more because Brandi was willing to come on the show and immediately be put in an adversarial position against one of the cast members.

On a side note I think that it was interesting that Adrienne was willing to be the one who introduced Brandi to "the group" and the audience. I waver between seeing that as a passive-aggressive way of going up against Lisa, or an indication that she was the producers' toady.

  14. What is sad is that I've seen some.of Kim's old movies and tv episodes...she was talented especially at comedy. She had good comic timing.

I.think we now know where Lindsay Lohan will be in twenty yrs just by looking at Kim. Sad state indeed

Do you have any links to videos or search terms because most of Kim's work that I've seen is drama. Thanks.
  15. Adrienne and Taylor filmed with Brandi when she first got on the show. Then after Spa Day Kyle invited her to events, they actually met up for manicure date arranged by Taylor but Taylor was a no show. Brandi kissed up to Camille and Camille was receptive but really warmed up to Brandi when Brandi chose to ask Taylor to leave her party (the Malibu Party) as opposed to Camille's buddy DeeDee. Kyle and Brandi got into it at the Malibu party but Kyle still invited Brandi / did not disinvite or veto Brandi from coming to her events like The White Party or the Hawaii trip.

  16. Responding to a question from another thread re Mohammed and Kim.

Mohammed threw a party for his dear friend Lisa in season one and it was also the backdrop for Kim to be set up with Martin. Kim showed up late, spent a considerable time in the bathroom, spoke to Kyle in their special language, and then, per Lisa, had to be driven home.

    • Love 2
  17. That kind of wealth carries a lot of power! Has he even acknowledged Kim on camera at all? I do not remember seeing him at anyone house except his own and Lisa's until last weeks episode when he came to the WP at Kyle's/Mauricio's house. Kyle and Mauricio had to have been orgasmic that he showed up at their party. Has he been to any of the other HW's homes/parties and I missed it?

Mohammed loves the camera and was probably one of those people badgering Kyle to invite him, although I am pretty sure he did it in a smooth way.

Re Kim and Mohamed, answering in the Previous Seasons thread.

  18. I was surprised to see how many dogs Ken and Lisa have, when Lisa handed Giggy to Ken he had 3 dogs on a leash and a dog in his hand, so that makes 5 dogs and that Rumpy dog makes 6 - I don't think Rumpy was one of the dogs Ken had because they all looked like small / toy-size dogs.

    ETA:

IIRC Lisa tweeted or did an interview that they adopted Giggy's father.

  19. Maybe that's it -- I always thought it was unbelievable hypocrisy that Brandi kept yelling, on camera, "I gave her a heads-up so she could QUASH it!"  It's like, dude, you're not quashing it if you're talking about it (and telling her about it) in front of a camera!  You're giving it a megaphone!  The whole thing about "I was being a girls' girl" when Brandi, at the time, was constantly attacking Kyle, was just silly.

To me, this shows what the dynamic of the show was at the time:  the "Dream Team" was viewers' choice after the last reunion, and they believed they could do no wrong.  They could trash Kyle and Mauricio, attack their integrity, their marriage, openly mock them and laugh at them, and the viewers would remain on their side.  And they could do the same to anyone (i.e. Joyce) who seemed like she might be on Kyle's team.

What's funny to me is that at some point in the season, Lisa (the master chess player) figured out that the tides were turning: whether it was Brandi and the tampon string, or finally realizing that the constant ganging up on Kyle would backfire, or that Joyce might get a better edit than they expected, Lisa realized that she better get some backup alliances in place.  So she backed away from Brandi (as Ken admitted on camera during the reunion), and started reaching out to Kyle and Joyce.  It was strategic.  (Was she also remorseful?  I think that depends on how you see Lisa.  I don't think so, but who knows for sure.)

What's funny is that when Yolanda and especially Brandi realized Lisa had changed strategies and was forging new alliances, they freaked out.  Hence Brandi trying to turn Kyle against Lisa ("she told me to put tabloids in the suitcase!") and both of them wondering (in footage that was shown in the "this season on" previews but never in an episode) whether Lisa/Ken were blackmailing the Umanskys.  I do believe Yolanda when she said that Lisa "never had anything good to say about Kyle, at all," so she didn't understand why Lisa was suddenly buddying up to her again.  I also think that the reason the Lisa take-down didn't work was because it was all about what she was doing FOR THE SHOW, and Bravo will never show that.

As others on this very smart thread have said, the amount of production interference really comes through in the way on-camera conflicts are portrayed.  They couldn't say that the fight was over agreements they had made about who to befriend and what to say or do on camera, because we're supposed to pretend that none of this is planned.  (For the record, I also believe fully that production knows Lisa wanted to bring the magazines, and that production told Kyle that.  I ALSO believe that production may have encouraged Lisa to encourage Brandi to bring the magazines, so Lisa's defense is that "Production told me to," making the whole thing a vicious circle that they can't explain without bringing the whole house of cards tumbling down. The biggest accusation against Lisa is that she stirs the pot.  I think she does stir the pot; I also think she often does so at production's request, so again, it's hard to put the accusations against her on camera.)

I actually think that Lisa re-connected with Kyle because she knew that despite being Queen Bee of RHoBH that she was a third wheel on the Dream Team.  The Dream Team was not a house built on a solid foundation, rather it was a house built on sand with Yolanda talking crap about Lisa in France was the first salvo.  Early in season 4 the indicators were there that Brandi and Yolanda were tight with each other but neither one was super-tight with Lisa.  Lisa initially took the hair flip incident out on Joyce because she thought that Joyce was angling for air time when she took Lisa aside to discuss the matter, but according to Joyce the main reason she took Lisa aside was because Brandi and Yolanda bad-mouthing Lisa to her and when Yolanda did it, it was filmed.

IMO Lisa dismissed Joyce but later on, after other incidents, it sunk in what Joyce was trying to tell her.  Then in Palm Springs you have Brandi making the "strategize" comment which Yolanda did not react to on camera, or at least we did not see it, but in a talking head she commented on Lisa maneuvering things and people in order to get a desired outcome.  Brandi also started getting snippy with Lisa over her "mothering" and Yolanda backed Brandi.  The ultimate IMO was when Brandi was invited back to her hometown for a parade and book signing and she chose Yolanda to accompany her.

You may be right that Brandi and Yolanda freaked out when they saw Lisa "changing" strategies, but an argument can be made that Lisa did it in reaction to Brandi and Yolanda gradually icing her out.

    • Love 3
  20. As elaborated elsewhere on this forum, I think these are instances of Lisa helping production to develop storyline. It was a role she'd been playing from the show's onset, but she probably got more heavy-handed at it by Season 4. In previous seasons, if she'd had any moments of such obvious persuasion, production would have edited it out. But production was left grasping for a storyline during Season 4, since Carlton and Joyce didn't deliver as planned. As a result, they threw Lisa under the bus to craft a storyline about Lisa being "manipulative", building on Brandi, Kyle, and Yolanda's resentments. What you ended up with was a very meta-referential season about the cast member's actions in the light of being on a candid reality show.

As said before, the other HWs all have strategies, which are negotiated (in practice, if not explicitly) between them and production. I don't see Kyle's not shooting back insults at Brandi at Carlton's luncheon as a sign of her personal virtue. If it were off camera, she probably would have - and I don't doubt Kyle was stifling herself.

    [snip]

In order to enact her strategies, Lisa has mostly used persuasion and suggestion to lead the other cast members to action, rather than acting herself. She's intelligent enough to pull this off, and it worked for her (and production) until TPTB turned on her last season.

If Lisa has been truly manipulating things and her clumsier efforts never made it to air or she was shielded by production, I don't consider it throwing her under the bus to finally show the "real" Lisa. I can believe that she got a little sloppy but I think in Lisa's case that there's just so long that a faker and a fraud can get away with their crap, fraud is too strong of a word but I can't think of another. Lisa has been on camera stirring the pot since season one, she has been explicitly called out for stirring the pot and other misdeeds since season 2. IMO the main reason that Lisa had the wind at her back was that the audience liked her more than they liked her adversary, so if there was no smoking gun, many chose to believe that the person going up against Lisa was lying, jealous or crazy. Actually IMO there was a smoking gun a time or two, but it was ignored or rationalized.

Again I think that if you hang around long enough on a candid reality show, some kind of fall is inevitable, especially if you are being fake and engaging in gamesmanship. However much more than production throwing Lisa under the bus or being ganged up on or plotted against by resentful castmates, Lisa did it to herself, because she stated at the very first reunion that the cameras capture the true person and then went on to boast about how honest, honorable, ballsy and straight-forward she was and then proceeded to contradict / not live up to her self-proclaimed hype.

Lisa did it to herself by:

    - guffawing and then excusing Brandi's abhorrent behavior towards new girl Joyce. I think that it was particularly telling to see Lisa belly laughing at Brandi antics and even doing talking heads saying that the crap that Brandi was doing wasn't right but it was funny <laugh, laugh> and IIRC she made another comment to the effect that Joyce was getting mean girled and big whoop. And then that gets juxtaposed that against later in the season Lisa crying to Ken on the beach and telling him in a little girl voice that the others were being mean to her, and then later on leaving the dinner and then checking out of the hotel.

    - calling people out as she has done throughout the series culminating in her going after Kyle and Mauricio at the season 3 reunion, discussing the tabloid rumors about Mauricio and then justifying it as the elephant in the room, and then showing ultra-sensitivity when she was called out in Puerto Rico and when Brandi brought up her past financial issues.

    - other small scenes of Lisa being gossipy, pot-stirring and / or shady.

    - being part of Vanderpump Rules, specifically showing her vulgar and classless side and tolerance of unsavory people and their shenanigans.

Lisa is still very popular and her place on the show is well-cemented, but the luster on her Queen Bee crown has definitely been tarnished and IMO Lisa herself and the passage of time are the main culprits, as opposed to Lisa being conspired against or thrown under the bus.

  21. Ok, she did say it but she did not say it as it were "her" opinion/feelings but that they were Yolandas. That is why I feel she was finishing up what Yolanda said. You did hear Lisa say that the cheating stories were lies right before that and Kyle pointing out that the same "cheating" rumors were written about Lisa/Ken? Then Yolanda starts in on "there has to be a little bit of truth to these stories" and then Lisa says the "where there's smoke...." in response to Yolanda but not necessarily in agreement with her. I took her, Lisa, saying that as nothing more than finishing off Yolanda's thought. It was Brandi that then used the Eddie cheating rumors turning out to be true as a "warning" to Kyle that it may be true about Mauricio. I found it odd that Brandi even thought that Kyle had not seen or did not know about the tabloid stories, "I wanted to give her a heads up about the tabloid stories", she doesn't think Kyle ever goes to the store herself?

I am responding to assertion that somewhere out there is a footage of Yolanda saying all or any part of the phrase "where there is smoke, there is fire," there is not. However when Lisa said it, Yolanda replied, "exactly." When this discussion first came up, my assertion all along was that Lisa said the entire phrase, which has been confirmed multiple times, but that there are different views as to what it signifies. Was Lisa merely helping an ESL friend complete her thought, or perhaps the Dream Team had been discussing this matter and Lisa, playing both sides, wanted to get that sentiment expressed and quickly jumped in to vocalize "the money shot."

    ETA:

According to Brandi she had gotten a heads up that another story was coming out and she brought it up at Carlton's luncheon to be a "girls girl" in case Kyle wanted to try and squash the story. Presumably this was the story that came out the day they were traveling to Palm Springs and was in the tabloid that Brandi accused Lisa of telling her to pack.

  22. That isn't what happened.  Kyle said Lisa preys on the weak the same season as Game Night, so it was said long before fan reaction to game night. In addition, Lisa became close to Brandi during the Hawaii trip, so this also happened before Lisa knew what the fan reaction would be to game night. In fact, Lisa had not yet seen the game night fiasco during the time of filming.

Season 2 was game night, Lisa preys on the weak, the ambush of Lisa at her tea party, and the beginning of Lisa's friendship with Brandi.  This all happened long before fans had seen the show.

ETA: Kyle said that Lisa preys on the weak even before she became close with Brandi.  It was said early in the season.

My theory all along was what made Lisa throw Kyle under the bus over Game Night was the one-two punch of the Game Night and Spa Day episodes airing and its fallout and then hearing Kyle make the "preys on the weak" comment. The "preys on the weak" comment aired a couple episodes after the Spa Day episode.

Lisa firmly backed Kyle and Kim during filming and started getting heat for being part of the Mean Girls group that iced out and mocked Brandi on Spa Day. When Lisa got heat on her Bravo blog, other blogs and social media, Lisa's response (via her Bravo blog) was that she backed Kyle and Kim so vigorously because Kyle misrepresented what happened on that night. Now my response to that is that Lisa had ample information to know that Brandi was not the only one who acted out that night. Kyle admitted that Kim said she does not want Brandi on her team and that when they were playing a game, Kyle said "you first," to which Brandi responded, "bring it bitch!" which totally scandalized delicate Lisa. Furthermore Adrienne had spoken to Brandi and conveyed that Brandi felt she was treated horribly, but Lisa was having none of it, Kyle was her girl at that time and therefore Kyle had her backing even though Kyle and Kim acted out that night as well.

I don't buy that Brandi and Lisa became close in Hawaii, rather that Lisa was icing Brandi out before Hawaii and when they got there she interacted with her, and yeah they did have a couple of laughs but I don't think Hawaii represented the beginning of a true friendship, rather it was the end of Lisa icing her out and accepting her as a member of the cast.
