I really admire Erika. She's tough and unflappable. Even the Truth Bomb didn't seem to phase her.

I've liked Erika from the first episode we finally got to hear her speak.  I haven't always believed she would make it to the end, but looks like she could possibly get there.  This is the second tribal council where we've seen her explain her position so the jury gets a clue to how she has been part of moves.

  2. I thought Erika handled tribal council really well when Jeff started digging in with the "if you're on the bottom you need to make a move" type questions and you could see Shan getting nervous that Erika hadn't talked to her.

Erika was able to turn it around to reassure Shan that they had just worked together on the last tribal and also drop the info to the jury that she helped orchestrate the Naseer vote out, giving herself game move points.

  3. Erika helped take the hypothetical machine gun from the baby. Everyone keeps saying she's sneaky. No, she strategic and it isn't sneaky to talk about a plan with you, Deshawn, she's trying to include you to advance both your games.

Ricard has a very flat affect- I wonder if it has to do with his hearing and how he has to observe everyone so closely so he doesn't miss things. It makes him appear calculating and tonight he was. He decided now was the time to turn on his ally. Wonder if he'll be able to work with Erika, Xander, Heather and Deshawn to make it further or if he just set himself up to go next.

  4. Xander is wise to hold his idol. Liana is going to be coming for him, not only because he wrote down her name, but because of his face (?).

He seems to understand how to use his advantages better than Shan. That isn't how an extra vote works.

  5. Was a little concerning when after sitting on the bench for about 10 minutes Naseer tried to clap and couldn't do it, still saying he could feel his right hand. Did make me laugh a little though, after he mockingly told Erika that he could stand up there for two hours. Way to go, Erika.

Best line of the night goes to Ricard-, "I have the most high maintenance alliance ever." But it's so simple-  All he has to do is let Shan make all decisions and never question her.

For all of those who complain about reality show players "mugging" for the camera: I give you . . . Tiffany.

Oh, the eye rolls! She just had to let the camera know how little she was falling for Xander's advantage confession.

Genie- if ever in this season someone has reason to roll the dice to try to stay it was you on this night. How that was not obvious to her (particularly when it was brought up during the tribal discussion) I cannot fathom. Clueless and way too trusting to the end.

  7.

This the first time that I heard Erika speak and I like her. She is smart and insightful and seems that she judged Sydney's character very accurately. Too bad she misjudged Deshawn as the player to trust. He would rather stick with an emotional and erratic player over someone he could strategize and go far with.

Didn't like Sydney when I heard speak for the first time last week and this week just confirmed it. Her attitude is astounding. Hopefully attitudes will have shifted before the blue team does go to tribal so Erika has a chance.

Random thoughts on episode 3 “The Fine Print”:

    • Advantages have more fine print than a free theme park ticket
    • JD needs to work on his layups
    • The Ferris Bueller oars for Brad’s legs were an uncanny likeness

Shan is the most entertaining player to watch this season.  Her story about what happened to her when she was five was heartbreaking, and I’m generally immune to reality show sob stories.

JD and his showy layups- embarrassing! Have to wonder who he watched this episode with. They probably haven't stopped laughing yet.

  9. So it's come just tossing advantages around camp because they can't trust the players to find them. I guess they need the players to save all their mental energy for trying to decipher how the advantages work.

I liked Boat Oar Brad- well done. But real life Brad didn't understand how to apply his subterfuge skills to the game and proceeded to overshare placing himself as a target for the vote.

  10. I'm sorry but everything Tiffany did tonight should have been enough to shut down the women's alliance. At this point Evvie and Liana are just caving to Tiffany against their own logic.

I saw a blonde woman on the blue team that I'm sure I didn't see on the first episode. Maybe we'll get to see that tribe sometime. But not until the yellow team's implosion is.complete, I guess.

Yesssss. I don't have any hearing issues and really could barely discern any of the dialogue in the first 10-15 minutes. The music was fine but it should be background music. Don't drown out the dialogue!

Same here. I immediately started hitting the sound quality buttons for my sound bar; turns out the "sports" setting helped a little bit not enough to really hear.

Not sure I can make it through another season. All the characters have become ridiculous parodies. My eyes can only roll so hard!

  12. So good to have the show back! Hope that can stop telling me that it is Survivor 41 so it's all different, faster, harder. Got the memo.

Surprised neither tribe tried counting the triangles, but sure it would have led to some big disagreements over the right answer and might have splintered things right away if the answer was wrong. Not that didn't happen a little with DeShawn and Danny getting caught looking for idols instead of working on the challenge.

Didn't have time to know if I'm sad that Abraham is gone, but his "strong equals man, woman equals expendable" line is old. They will miss the muscle if they have to pull anything like those sleds up an incline again though.

I didn't want Sarah to go until they got to tribal council and she was still teary. Then she and Shan stated the whispering.  (No more whispering!) Then I was fine with her exit. Even if Brad, who announces in front of players that they are going, got to stay.

  13. At long last Gayle's daughter, Kirby had the grandchild. And she got to show a couple of  pictures, which surprised me. But Gayle still had to gripe that she wasn't allowed to show the baby's face. You go, Kirby. I love how she and her husband hold their boundaries against the force that is Gayle.

I liked the dialect coach piece, too.  Oh, and there was the one about the high school in Colorado and their crappy football field.  I liked that one.

It was a good show overall. Really liked the dialect coach piece and Anderson Cooper's piece was more interesting than I thought it would be.

The football field piece was good, but I was distracted the whole time wondering where the school building was. I understand it might not be right behind the school but there wasn't a building in sight even in the drone shots! Do they have no locker room, where do they and their fans go to the bathroom? Maybe some of that extra money can take care of that as well as some bleachers.

  15. You're not alone, junemeatcleaver- I watch the Saturday morning show most Saturdays.

Made me nervous when they started talking about a new format so considering what other changes they could have made this sounds ok. I'm curious to see how it plays out. Just keep it focused on the news, please.

  16. Tony gave me a good laugh with his confusion this morning about the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends" while they where talking about "The Wonder Years" reboot. And now I've had it stuck in my head all day.

    First day without Anthony- sigh

  17. This is so disappointing. Anthony brings a stability and depth of knowledge about music, culture and history. I love his delivery and subtle sense of humor. I only know Nate from guest spots on this show- he seems intelligent and prepared, but he talks so fast and all Gayle can do the whole time he's there is talk about how good he looks and how great his outfit is.

The change I wish was happening was Gayle being replaced with Jerika.

I remain baffled by the dominance of the fluffy, annoying morning shows and hope that isn't the CBS plan

  18. I buy almond milk now that our kids are out of the house specifically for its longer fridge life. Since we use milk almost exclusively as an ingredient it doesn't get used very fast. So the one week fridge life wouldn't work for me. My daughter makes her own almond milk using a Blendtec blender, which can be used for a myriad of other things instead of another one use kitchen appliance.

I have long, very thick hair and never once have stuck a glob on of it on the shower wall. But I have the solution- the teenager who sticks their hair on the wall has chosen to clean the bathroom that day. If you do it every day; you can clean it every day. Nobody else should have to solve this non-problem.

  19. Jane was a guest on NPR's Wait, Wait.Don't Tell Me today. She said that the cast and contestants were.flown to Australia and spent a solid 14 days alone in their hotel rooms. Eve after hearing that it was jarring to seen a crowd and a full band. So many people!

I liked the show and will watch. Something light and fun. And now I want to listen to Bryan Adams.
