  1. Michele Tafoya says she's pro-choice but there was a bunch of anti-choice talking points about the age of a fetus, premie survival and throwing Kermit Gosnell in as a red herring. 90% of abortions occur before 15 weeks and less than 1% of all abortions occur in the 3rd trimester. No woman is carrying a fetus to 38 weeks and then going "You know what? Nah." Many times women who end up with 2nd trimester abortions have delays in the procedure because of access or finances. Tafoya was a horribly tone-deaf person to be on the panel with this week's news and is clearly biased having had her own struggles with fertility. If you want to feel cleansed of her mealy mouth BS and discuss the real implications of the leak and potential ruling, I suggest listening to this week's Strict Scrutiny podcast: https://crooked.com/podcast/what-the-scotus-leak-could-mean-for-abortion/
  2. Damn, I just discovered that Judith Light played Blanche Knopf when I was reading Wikipeda! WOW, did she disappear into that role.
  3. The actress playing Louisa was stiff and wooden. Hopefully this will improve as the season goes. None of the characters really caught my interest, and were way too busy with explaining everything to have any kind of personality. The photography (filmography?) was also really terrible - overly bright scenes, flat lighting and garish colors. I'll keep watching but I don't expect to get emotionally involved like with Downton!
  4. The "in" portion of "incel" means involuntary. If one has an actual reason for being voluntarily celibate, that's way different. I agreed with most of the new rule, but it's really weak to reduce the argument against a digital life down to loser incels not getting laid. There are so many more things that the internet ruins, not just sex. Bill missed a great connect back to his earlier "stop the hate" point, because when people live entirely online, they get to choose their neighbors and increasingly choose to exist in a self-reinforcing echo chamber where it's incredibly easy to develop hate toward others who aren't like them. The internet basically fomented Jan 6, and look at the demonization of non-masked or unvaccinated people today (before this gets dragged off-topic, I am not anti-vaxx). They even talked about Republicans getting death threats over voting for a infrastructure bill! Social media gives crazies a disproportionately large megaphone. THIS is the danger, not undersexed beta males.
  5. Agree completely. I absolutely believe in Roger's love for Bree, but Bree has never convinced me that she fell in love with him back. This is probably simply because Richard Rankin is a much better actor than Sophie Skelton. The way he was shaking when they embraced ... Sophie just stared at him and then "you're back" with a blank face. I super squeed when Jocasta and Murtagh was revealed. Get it, girl.
  6. Sigh. Just like rape is a lazy, semi-misogynistic dramatic writer's tool, so too is pregnancy. Of course Brianna gets pregnant the first time she has sex.
  7. This is entirely a problem with Sophie Skelton. She's a total mannequin and I had to laugh when the featurette called her a hothead. She just seems whiny. Richard Rankin was in The Crimson Field with Oona Chaplin as his love interest and they were both steamy. I believe his acting as Roger but I just get no feeling from Brianna whatsoever.
  8. Loved Catherine Rampell and even better how she just took the wind out of British Mr Clean with the "what does that have anything to do with what we're talking about?" It didn't! Hahaha!
  9. After seeing her on House of Cards and now here, I just think she's not a very good actress. Or at least miscast in these harsh political roles.
  10. I accidentally spoiled myself on Barbara's death but show, WTF?! If the actress didn't want to be on the show anymore, she had already been neatly written off for half of season 7 already. Why bring her back just to kill her? And POOR TOM. Ugh. Sad.
  11. Which episode was that? Most of the world's figure skating blades, from beginner to elite, are made in Sheffield.
  12. Budgets $400k and up in WNY will get you a really nice house, city or 'burbs. The house is in Orchard Park - the restaurant scene is a well-known OP place. It's an upscale suburb about 20min southeast of the city and where the Bills stadium is located. The market here is almost booming, but $450k was definitely overpriced. I was a little peeved at the guy for saying how up-and-coming Buffalo is - by saying how close it is to Cleveland, Rochester, Toronto?! Dude, there is a ton going on IN Buffalo.
  13. Once someone said he was Evil Pacey, it was all over for me.
  14. We are on the same page. I could buy Jon/Gendry sooner than Jon/Daenerys.
  15. That was really great acting, particularly from Dinklage. All their history and grievances came flooding back. Kit has also been really excellent with almost everyone. Too bad Emilia's a wooden plank with everyone except Lord Commander Friendzone. Emote with your eyes, woman!
  16. I feel it from Kit - he was giving it his all with the smouldering and the sexy eyes in that cave - but I'm getting nada from Emilia. I don't think she's a particularly nuanced actress - lots of wide eyes and yelling. The line from Missandei about how all these people chose to follow Dany, but yet I almost was rooting for Jamie to take her out with the spear. Yeah, but she neatly dracarys'd right up the wagon line. I didn't see many soldiers there. Not that the entire field being on fire wouldn't have eventually set the food on fire, but it seemed a deliberate choice. Well, he did only grammar check him on the specific thing that Stannis had said. So maybe that's his one bit of grammatical knowledge? I can also get behind Jon having a less thorough education than the other Starks due to being a bastard. Hell, plenty of educated people today get fewer/less than wrong.
  17. I do think it's the show's ham-handed way of trying to give Show Jamie the nuance and depth that Book Jamie has.
  18. Definitely Bronn - there was the moment after the scorpion was destroyed when he was staring at the riderless white horse, and it was a man on a white horse that saved Jamie from Drogon.
  19. Ser Bronn of the Blackwater, dragon battle MVP.
  20. Good Bones might be a good show for you. That's the redheaded mother and daughter show. It's similar to Rehab Addict where they take super beat-up historic homes and fix them up. You can tell that both of them are extremely hands on with the demo, design and some of the fixing up. They're a little cheesy but not terribly annoying. It didn't look like a true split to me, where part of the house is half a flight of stairs down from the other part. It looked like a split level entrance only, with the whole first and second floors being congruent.
  21. LOL. Thank you for clarifying. I was extremely bummed thinking it was Yara and Ellaria.
  22. Was I seeing things, or wasn't that Yara hanging from the mast of that ship, and Ellaria, er, stabbed to the top of the mast?
  23. Anita's voice sounded almost exactly like Joanna Gaines to me. Seriously impressive renovations - that front door move was crazy and ambitious - but personality-wise, they are just blah.
