  1. I think TLo gave Korina too much of a pass regarding her attack towards Char. I'm sure K was furious at the judges/producers, but her whole point was that Char was soooo inferior, it was insulting. How could Char not take that personally? I'll say this: NOTHING* that happened this season hasn't happened before. After 12 seasons, it should be obvious to anyone signing up for this show that inconsistant/hypocritical judging, story-arcing, producer favorites, "unexpected" twists, etc., are par for the course. The rules are that there are no rules, sadly. Rarely does the bitch-personality win. You take your chances and show yourself the best you can. If someone's prompting you to trash talk, well, you still have control over your own mouth. Of any contestant ever, I think Victor has the most reason to be bitter about producer manipulation and he managed to keep it together and act with dignity. *Well, the extra ten minutes for Char did, I equate that with allowing Wendy Pepper's model to wear her own thong.
  2. Yeah, too bad Tim doesn't have enough class left to tell the producers, "Enough is enough."
  3. Korina's whole argument to the judges seemed to be that since she loved what she made, they had no right to pan it. She never really acknowledged that the judges really didn't like her outfit. She even said during her rant (while making the one-hour dress) that she should have been judged on the original outfit, not this one-hour dress. But she was judged on the original outfit. She just never seemed to get that. I thought Tim's advice at least had Emily decreasing the width of those shoulders. I could be wrong, but when she first had it up on the form, it looked like someone wearing a chair cushion. I didn't get that impression from the final result.
  4. ITA. If Korina was directing her anger toward the judges and not personally at Char, I bet Char would not have been reduced to such tears when back in the lounge. Even if she was ranting about the judges/producers, the message is that they are protecting a vastly weaker (in Korina's opinion) designer, which is directly about Char. I do agree with TLo that the Tim Gunn save needs to go, though.
  5. If Korina does stalk off next week, I'm hoping it's because Char told, "If you're going to act like this, go sit in the lounge. I'd rather have no help than help from you." Hee. Thanks for the chuckle. The most hilarious thing were the crickets afterward. Did Korina's model actually say anything on camera? I remember Emily saying the model was chiming in, but I don't remember hearing the model actually say anything about Char.
  6. Unless they've watched the last six seasons, that is. :-) I would bet any designer in the final six is pretty sure they know are going to FW. Korina's hubris came back to bite her. Yikes, she's certainly entitled, isn't she? She acted like it was a truth universally acknowledged that she was going to win the whole thing. I really hate it when designers respond with "I really want this, I've wanted it since I was twelve" when asked why they should be kept. That's irrelevant. Wanting something alot is no reason for someone else to foot the bill for your FW show, IMO. I would put Korina ahead of Char in the talent area, but not nearly by as much as Korina does.
  7. I didn't like anything on the runway except for Emily's outfit. I thought Kini and Amanda's were ridiculous, especially those pink pants. The quilted jacket did look hooker, sorry Kini. Korina's look was so heavy, and I hated the skirt. The cape had too much crap on it. Sean and Char's looked really dated. Funny how the best thing after Emily's was Char's one hour dress (JMHO).
  8. I don't think the show is ever going to get any better. Weinstein doesn't care about PR prestige in the fashion world, as long as the ad revenue keeps coming in. Heidi and Tim can't care either because they've done nothing to halt the decline. Tim even keeps up the "this is the most talented group of designers we've ever had" BS.
  9. Yeah, they trashed any goodwill from having four nice people in the finale with that reunion show. Especially with Tim's indignation that anyone would think the show had producer manipulation. Tim apparently thinks the viewing audience is stupid.
  10. That's a pretty big "other than" IMO. That scoring system that gave them an 8 must not include any score for mutual sexual attraction. I don't see how the writers can resolve Sheldon and Amy in any believable way.
  11. To me, the best way to improve the show is to reduce the number of decoy collections. I just don't get the scheduling problem--would viewers not watch in June? December? Remember the great fall/winter shows, where they had time to make jackets and coats? Make the showing at Fashion Week the prize it used to be. I'm surprised the PR franchise isn't embarrassed at FW these days. Does the fashion press even show up any more? That and more time to shop, and two-day challenges. See how easy it is? :-)
  12. I think he should have sold it as "sun" dress, pun intended, meaning that it lit up like the sun. It might have made the basic sundress siloutte less egrecious.
  13. I remember Kenley (S5) getting emotional at the thought of designing for Diane Von Faustenberg. It was actually a nice, believable moment from a young designer in awe of one of the greats. Regarding Diane's judging, though, I'm less impressed. She rarely went beyond "I... like this dress." as a critique. She lost me in S2 when she even said that about Zulema's butt-baring sweater dress. Even without the butt-hanging out, it was an ugly dress, IMO. I also blame her for her participation in crowning Daniel V. as the winner in the first All Star Event. He had a poor collection except for the dress for the movie premiere for Nine(?) which wasn't too bad. Diane's "Sometimes one dress is all it takes" helped cement his coronation. Can you tell I'm still bitter about that? :-)
  14. Hee. I thought they sounded like teenage girls at a Beatles concert.
  15. True, but he fully understood this and decided to do it anyway, come what may. He fully embraced the challenge directives: to make an avant garde piece for a rainway. I think he succeeded brilliantly in both respects. It made a one-time, unexpected, visual splash, pardon my pun, and used the media of the rainway as an integral part of the design. Daring like that should be rewarded. I was avidly awaiting his garment to come out--how long has it been since that happened?
  16. Too bad Tim forgot the purpose of the Tim Gunn Save was exactly for this scenario. He let it get corrupted into a maudlin personality contest, regardless of the design potential displayed to date, IMO. Very, very disappointed that Fade is out. I also think the movement to keep Amanda front and center contributed in that the judge's seemed oddly disinclined to even look at Fade's designs. I don't know what would be worse: That the producers are pushing The Amanda Show as a their chosen story hell-or-high-water, or if Tim and the judge's truly like her designs. If so, I question their taste level. YMMV.
  17. While I don't have any particular dislike of Amanda herself, I don't like the whole fans-decide-their-favorite-to-come-back. I hate they way the production company tries to spin that as fans demanding a return of a favorite who got a raw deal. They need to start including another option like "Rather a new person than any of the above" when allowing voting. There was nothing special about Amanda in her season, IMO, and certainly no unfair elimination. And now that she's back, I honestly believe the producers are putting her in the top just to justify it: "See THE FANS were right, she's great!" Unfairly or not, this makes me want Amanda to fail, especially as I see her undeserving (IMO) designs keep getting praised.
  18. I agree. He had the kind of getting-away-with-it-justifies-doing-it, smug personality I personally loathe. I could see him becoming a judge's darling with his "bad boy" (barf) ways, and was delighted when his own dishonesty got him booted. Re Vincent: He was a little creepy to me during the season, but I was more frustrated with the judge's keeping him around after his truly horrible (IMO) designs. I didn't even mind him telling Laura to shove her Harry Winston's up her nose because she was unfairly chastising him for Alison's elimination--yes, he should have been out, but he had no control over that. But his crazy rant about the laundry shown during the reunion really made me think he's not just creepy, but dangerous. Seriously, if I had to share living space with him after seeing that rage, I would have asked to move, fearing for my safety.
  19. What I like about season five is that so many of the designers seemed to actually be having some fun. Except for Daniel, there wasn't so much whining, "I don't DO that." I just rewatched S5; it's my second favorite to rewatch after Season 1. I loved the variety of challenges. They had a DRAG QUEEN challenge, how much fun was that? The Olympics, Diane Faustenburg(?), car parts, "hip hop" (hee), Botanical Gardens. To me that's the last season that hasn't been a continuous string of "make an outfit of your choice vaguely inspired by (insert product placement of choice)."
  20. I pretty much disagreed with the jewelry lady judge regarding what colors went with what jewelry. Kini: White for diamonds? No. Boring. Alexander: I thought the grey color perfectly set off the red/white of the necklace, when you could see it, that is. Korina: That sparkly black necklace almost clashed with the matte black dress. When you could even notice it, that is. I figured Samantha was a goner as soon as she picked the most boring, non-inspiring jewelry for a gala. JMHO.
  21. Hubris, thy name is Kini. He's so likable, though, I felt sorry for him. Didn't Tim tell him to lower the hem...?
  22. ITA. Didn't Char also suggest the leather and then not know how to work with it? That it would be stiff and make pointy breasts? I thought that was odd, too. Add me to list of viewers who don't like Tim's tattletaling to the judges. Everything time he starts to say, "I TOLD them...." he should check himself--it's really not fair to the designers. I did not like Kini's at all. It looked complete cliched and dated to me. The only reason I'm not more disappointed at their team's CLEAR win, hee, was because everything else was dreck. I would have given the win to Fade, though. Emily's was okay except for the sleeves which put it squarely in costume territory. They really needed more time. This could have been a fun challenge. Instead it turned into another, "Make a garment of your choice, but make it unusual, daring, etc, and impeccably made in 10 hours", leading to ANOTHER terrible runway show. The guest judges were beyond useless and had nothing to say except, "I would/wouldn't wear that."
  23. And to make it worse, Natalia came in second in that same challenge, right after coming in second for the steam punk challenge. And to make it really worse, Asha's entry (in the day to night look for this challenge) was HIDEOUS! Tim did nothing. Sad.
  24. I thought so too. While I agree that the judges are within their rights to give feedback, they should either evaluate the worst on each team or none that aren't in the top or bottom. To pick out only the one most vulnerable person is just shit-stirring and reduces my respect for the judge, producers, and the show. But this show stopped caring about being respected ages ago.
  25. ITA. I was thinking she was being selfish in not letting her teammates run the collection, since she had nothing at stake. Then she did exactly what they wanted and they say it's her fault the team's in the bottom. I would not have cared if Hernan went too. I disagree with the judge's that Sanhya's was the worst. It at least had some interesting lines. Carrie's was a dress we seen thousands of times before. What the heck did Carrie think she was doing with her behavior? That they were going to disregard the rules? Maybe she was hoping Tim would save her. I will miss her ever-changing hair color, though.
