That's what I mean when I said it was convoluted, there were just too many rules, it's supposed to be a competition to find the best chef, what does football have to do with that?

It's Texas.  Isn't football a religion or something?

  2. To my midwestern self, "Keh so" and "Kay so" would be pronounced exactly the same.  I pronounce it "KEE so."  Is that wrong?

My cynical self always assumes in the this type of matchup that they keep the teams pretty even in scoring, regardless of how the judges actually feel.  I think they think it ramps up the drama.  Yawn.  I agree the scoring was convoluted and I didn't get it until the first actual head-to-head.

I liked the Quickfire challenge.  Football one was okay.  I'm just glad Top Chef is back.

As for Kamila, awful awful but I'm almost thinking it might be a relief she was off the podium. Had she gotten a medal, the hatred and death threats directed towards her would have been horrific. I'm not convinced there wasn't part of her that fell because she really didn't want to medal.

That's exactly how she skated to me--a grim, joyless grind of a "performance."   Not caring one ounce if she won.

  4. I'm fine with having no medal ceremonies.  I think it will help keep the pressure on to complete the investigation.  If medals are awarded, then a feeling of what-evs may ensue.  The athletes will know how they placed and can take pride in that.  Why would going through a sham ceremony be of anyone's benefit?  YMMV.

Gotta say, I’m not loving Ted Ligety’s commentary.

One thing that really struck me last night is that they NEVER. SHUT. UP.  Constant chatter which may be but usually is not about the person skiing at the moment.  They were trying to get any crumb of good news to say about Mikaela, lauding her excessively for even trying.  They are acting like she's come back from two broken legs and a coma.  I think Mikaela herself is acting fine in the situation, but the commentators are ridiculous.

  6. I didn't like Scott as an announcer either, but the prize for banality has to go to Peggy Fleming.  I don't remember her ever saying anything insightful and still remember her stupidest remark, "She knows this routine like the back of her hand."   Well, duh.

If you read Pride and Prejudice you remember the buffoon Mr. Collins explaining how he works out ahead of time little compliments that he can put into conversations to charm everyone.  I just realized Tara is the Mr. Collins of figure skating.

Hee.  Yes, I was just thinking that I wish Tara would think about what she's about to say and decide if it adds anything to the conversation or is just banal "You really need to bring it to the Olympics"  or "This is their moment" drivel.

Or I wish they'd only say things that are applicable to this skater, not generalities.  That would cut out at least 80% of the chatter.

  8. Last night's primetime coverage had so much filler it was really annoying.  They spent so much time analyzing Nathan Chen's score (not to mention repeating his short program).  You would think there could be, oh, I don't know, actual events going on.  I feel for all the other non-highest-profile-or-non-American athletes who are constantly ignored.  At least I was able to set up In Demand specific sports in advance so it will pick up USA.  I don't have Peacock and it's insulting to have NBC do half of an event and tell everyone to watch the rest on Peacock.

That is why I really liked him as a judge. He can judge what would sell the most and make the winner the most commercially successful.  I really like Coral's too, but I could see her clothing in  a small boutique.   I can see Shantall's line in Macy's.  Kristina's reminded me of resort wear.  And that one blouse looked like it had a large open mouth near the blouse opening.  Chastity's were definitely costumy.

Each has its place in the industry, which is why I didn't like him as a judge.  He focused too much on what he himself does--churn out very similar clothes every year.  I would have like to have seen Fern Mallis(sp?) as a judge instead.

  10. I don't hold Shantall being eliminated against her because I believe so much is scripted that if she really was going to be out for good, the judges may not have eliminated her to begin with.  I don't remember what Coral did that episode, but it may have been just as worthy of elimination. To me most of the designers were equal in talent.

  11. If I picked the collection that had the two single outfits I loved best, it would be Shantall's (the black and white ones).

If I picked the collection that had the highest overall number of outfits I liked vs. disliked, it would be Kristina's.  I was quite surprised by her collection and I really like the prints.

I like quite a few of Coral's too.  I would have been fine with any of the three winning.

I hated everything in Chasity's except the one blue/purple top and pants that had nothing to do with the rest of the collection.  I suppose celebrities could wear her stuff on stage, but even for that, it wasn't very attractive.  Just tacky and dated, IMO.  The finale dress didn't even make an impact because of all the ruffles coming down the runway before it.

If you have to state yourself how important to the industry you are, then you are not.  TH's tunnel vision judging even made me miss Elaine.

I knew, you knew, but you could see she did not know.  She looked bereft. And she is an emotional person.  Felt for her.

Good point.  No way of knowing the actual timing of what happened. I just saw the edited result.

I didn’t like that they left Chasity thinking she was out.  Cruel.

Except it only took a nanosecond for anyone who watches this show to know she wasn't out.  They don't announce outs that way.

There was no discussion shown about the garments among just the judges, no, "We've made our decision, then."  That's when I knew they were all in.  Maybe they didn't want to have to justify any decision?  Lame, lame, lame.

  14. I liked the do-rag mainly because it covered the awful hairdo they gave Coco.  But it should have had a long, light tail which could have given the tornado effect he was going for if it was blowing up and swirling around.  His initial sketch had the top part of the dress not so snug but he didn't do that, the whole thing was tight and made movement hard.  And DENIM?  That doesn't flow at all.

  15. I remember Coco from Gretchen's season, where she modeled a jumpsuit Gretchen designed for a billboard in Times Square.  Coco was amazing and it really made me appreciate what a good model can do.

I do think the right person when home because Bones missed the mark the most, although I liked his garment more than Coral's (hated that fabric).  Kristina's was just odd, but I guess that what Nina likes.

yeah, I'm as "woke" as anyone (for a white person anyway), but lordy I got tired of being beaten over the head with "black girl power" stuff. We get it. Say it once or twice, and we GOT IT.

This.  It makes me wonder if they will just hand Chasity the win like they did with Ashley.  Not because her collection was the best but to make a statement.

  17. This is the first show this season I've fast forwarded through a few times.  I thought it was a poorly constructed challenge.  I can understand Coral's confusion.

It was just boring, IMO.  I'd like to see some of the process that goes into being a stylist, but this was not the way to showcase that.

Kristina basically made a bra, she just didn't make a sturdy enough one.  I did like the mix of prints and thought the black and white mix was good with the hair style.  That model looked pretty good for a change.

She didn't lie.  Her personal aesthetic isn't pants but she wanted the designer to create whatever she felt she could do the best.  Misunderstandings and miscommunications aren't lies.  She never led that designer to believe that she wanted pants nor did she ask for them.

She did, however, give the impression that pants would be fine, while on the runway she said she'd never wear pants to a reunion.

I figured Kristina would be in trouble from the get-go.  Her loose, multi-layer outfits are so not the Housewives' style, and Kristina has already shown she is not willing to compromise her aesthetic.

Kristina and Dr. Wendy were BOTH awful to each other.  Dr. Wendy was manipulative and a liar, but Kristina should learn about racial politics and don't go around calling this woman a Diva on international TV.

Kristina calling someone else a Diva while sobbing about getting her widdle feelings hurt was hilarious, IMO.

I thought Bones did the best job.  His client looked great in that and he added some needed flair with the feathers.  Coral lucked out big time, but I think nude fabric needs some sparkle to keep it from looking drab.
