  1. I too enjoy Gordon for his culinary skill and antics, I really want him back in HK calling people donkeys, muppets and donuts.
  2. And the community and the location looked perfect for a gastropub. How can you mess that up unless you are a completely self-centered narcissist like Kieran? I hope his wife took him for all he is worth. (Not that that would be much because it seems he's the type that would skip bills and stiff employees and vendors). I have no patience with this type. Mr. pig and I are loyal to local businesses and tip generously, although we are not wealthy people. Ugh. I just feel really sorry for the staff. And lay off the crap on your hairdo, you jerk!
  3. Gronk knew when to leave the game before his brain turned to mush, but I really miss him. He seems to have a pretty respectable working knowledge of food. I can see him doing football color commentary on network TV since Bradshaw is now about 200 years old. Maybe he could have Gordon cater the panel during halftime and they could munch incredible and amazing sliders while commenting on how crappy the pass defense was during the second quarter.
  4. You are making me hungry. When I was a kid our local hamburger joint used to top their 35 cent chocolate milkshakes with a rosette of whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg. To die for.
  5. Does anyone know what's in the Geico gecko's biscuits/cookies? Cinnamon, nutmeg or both?
  6. First off I have to say that I adore Gronk and could eat him up with a spoon. I thought 90% of The Park ep was great, but then that nutty owner took everything downhill in the last five minutes. What a bunghole! I so wanted to snatch that freaky Dondi wig off his head and beat him senseless, I really felt for 18-year-old Kevin (who looked about 12). Maybe Gordon will take him under his wing as he has others.
  7. They didn't mention Rene (Bless this Jeep) Aubergonois! My college friends and I had to go back to the Riviera Theater FIVE TIMES to see M*A*S*H in 1980 because the audience was laughing so hard we couldn't hear most of the dialogue. Mr. Aubergonois was also a brilliant Audible narrator. I have all of his Pendergast novels in my library.
  8. I was so bugged by the In Memorium sequence. Giving short shrift to Rutger F-ing Hauer??? He was an icon who made me cry ("Tears in Rain") and scared me to death in "The Hitcher". I had to rerun the DVR to make sure they even mentioned him. RIP,Roy Batty. You will always be in my heart.
  9. Thoughtful post, Very sad, whatever happened, Ugh -I could really use some good news right now. Did the Browns win the Superbowl???
  10. Nope, Kirk. I didn't realize the Oscars were o tomorrow night!
  11. Well, we know who The Big One will be at tomorrow night's In Memorium Oscarfest.
  12. I remember Orson for Twilight Zone and all his game show appearances. He was always such a sprightly, happy guy. I'm sure more details will be forthcoming, but - damn! - 91 years old and hit by two cars. Sadly, when his name comes up this will be the first thing you think of. Like Richard Bright, Neri from the Godfather movies, who was hit by a New York tourist bus and dragged to death. Yeesh. RIP Orson. You were a funny guy.
  13. Kirk Douglas. I agree with those who find Paths of Glory the highlight of his career. Saving Private Ryan and Platoon were great examples of the futility of war, but nothing has moved me to the degree Paths of Glory has, and it was released 64 years ago. Kirk was pitch-perfect in his take-down of the croissant-munching, brandy-sipping generals sitting in their castle while enlisted men were being slaughtered, This movie has stayed with me since the first time I saw it, and I was a teenager during Vietnam. Who can deny the parallels?
  14. I absolutely love good seafood and seeing the mess that Seafarer's was serving made me ill. What a waste! The entire family seemed dumb as rocks. If I were Gordon I would have marched my Continental Army-clad self right out the door and looked for someplace worth saving. I didn't like the redo either. The outdoor signage made it look like a hardware store.
  15. Sam Elliott times a bazillion. I love him. (Doritos ad).
  16. He is just so icky. And when he first appeared on the scene they were touting him as the next Paul Newman. As if. I really expect him to be hauling body parts in black trash bags out of that Lincoln. It is CREEPY!!!
  17. My sainted mother-in-law who always went to mass and never swore or drank loved "safe" murder mysteries. Like her beloved Jessica on "Murder She Wrote". She read everything MHC wrote.
  18. I will never give up on Chopped since it''s the show that got me into this nutty food scene. But I have to say the dessert rounds are totally boring. For me, dessert is creme brulee, Bahston cream pie, or Haagen Daszs straight up (especially their Trios and Spirits). Let me amend this a bit I love Black Bottom Pie, which is a cousin to Boston Cream Pie. I rest my case. Anyway, I always zone out during dessert rounds and love the ""Breakfast Lunch and Dinner" eps. Show me the cooking and I'll head for the freezer for my own dessert.
  19. I was just watching the Sweet 'n' Salty ep with La Martha. She didn't use chopsticks on her dessert, but she did repeat her favorite grudging compliment "tasty" over and over. I had hopes for her after her sojourn in the slammer, but it seems she's reverted to her old imperious self. Whatever. I don't have to watch.
  20. Catching up on McLanks' (mother and six kids). OMG. There's no amount of lipstick they could put on that pig (no offense to actual pigs) that would make me touch one bite of food processed by those slobs. Yuck. Ick. Nast. Their online reviews aren't bad, which makes me suspicious of online reviews.
