  1. I guess that is how they worked out Helen Georges maternal leave. Send Trixie into rehab. This was one of the most depressing episodes in a long time. And given that we are watching "Call the midwife" that is saying something.
  2. I liked it. It was quirky and fun. Most characters were fun to watch but I hated the room mate. SERIOUSLY? You suspect your best friend has PTSD and you still give her shit. Between her telling Liv to find professional help and telling her that she was one of those "You can't help people who won't help themselves."were like... three days. FUCK HER! Otherwise, I liked it. I look forward to David Anders. I love him
  3. Sorry, still calling it. Also Sin Rostro didn't derive (?) from Rose but Rose from Sin Rostro. When I said she would go after Rafael, I ment that she would try to seduce him. She needs a better reason to stay at the hotel and her operation than: Hey... tot's waiting for you dad here... whom I luv so much. So she will try to get to Rafael next. Why not Luisa? Luisa is a wild card. While I think that Rose (who is probably called Cesar or Luis Fernando in her past life) really does love Luisa, she will try to be the next Mrs. Rafael Solano. We will need drama soon in regards of the Rafael/Jane pairing. It is the law of telenovela. Rose will be that drama. She will kill Michael and move in on Rafael. DvD's I have (where the story still makes sense and you might enjoy): Corazon Salvaje, Pasion de Gavilanes, Pasion, Soy tu Duena, Alborada, La fuerza del destino, Triunfo del Amor, Dame Chocolate. I have more if you are interested. Since I am from germany, I have to pay a lot of shipping fees. So I am SUPER Peculiar regarding subtitles and sense in the story. If you want to see more of Jaime Camill; Por ella soy Eva is supposed to be really good.
  4. I am officially calling it: Rose was the original Sin Rostro before. Rose was also a dude. Something happened and she had to vanish. So she plastic surgeoned herself into the Rose we know now and met Luisa and through that, Louisa's dad. Saw the opportunity and took it. Now that she got rid of Emilio she going after Rafael. I am calling it. Yes and No. You can find some on Hulu but will probably need Hulu plus. You can also by DvDs. But there are more a best of than the whole story. Some are good (like... Sortilegio) some are really bad.
  5. She is off. She seems nice and mysterious but she has crazy eyes and is off. I love her already. I think she might bring a lot to the table.
  6. I’d like to add my two non-book reader cents: I don’t think I could heart this episode anymore than I do. It really came together and told a story instead of a sequence of events. You can feel that the actors feel even more in their role as they did and this show really makes me want to read the books. I will wait for that tho‘ until the first season is over. Here are a few things I enjoyed especially: Geillis Duncan. She seems nice but something about her screams "Bitch is cray cray!!!“ Her mannerisms and her smile is … just… off. Even her kindness is off. What is up with that. Also I really like the actress. I liked her in the Borgias. But I have the feeling I will like her here even more. Claire. Ha, I like her. She is practial, competent and smart. But still human and a fish out of water. At least she thinks quick on her feet (e.g. the bra scene. „It is french“). I really felt for her when it was decided that she couldn’t leave. Also it was very human how she started to talk herself into a corner. She isn’t trained in interrogation techniques. She heard her husband talking about it. But that isn’t the same thing. So making mistakes makes her more human to me, which is always appriciated. Jamie: Ye ol‘ flirt. And cocky with a heart of gold. Me likey. I do have a question though: After he took the punishment for Laoghaire (yes, I had to look that up), Claire asked him if knew the girl. He said „mumble mumble heavy accent mumble. But I never talked to her.“ But the way she look into the kitchen (?) to talk to him after gave me a different feeling. Is something going on there? Did I miss something? Also I really look forward to what is going on with the Mckenzie brothers and Jamie. They seem like they want him gone without having the possibility. At first I thought that Dougal was just hard on Jamie because he didn’t have a choice. But that beating was brutal and unnecessary. A punch in the shoulder? REALLY? I do not know who you are sir. But you are dead to me. Colum didn’t seem to mind either. He seems nicer than his brother but maybe that is nothing but a front. Interesting. Both of them. I cannot wait for episode three. I just want more. And I want the opening song for my mp3 player. It was gold.
  7. I haven’t read the books. To be honest, I didn’t even know there were books until after the first episode. The Good: The Intro Music: It gets you right into the setting. For me, a good intro is super important. This one hit me right in the feels. Amazing. The Characterization: For me it was more important to get a feel about Claire and the relationship to her husband than to learn about the Scots. We will have a lot of time to get them to know slowly. I felt like I was right there with Claire. She knows her husband. So he is an actual character to her. But as a person from the 20th century people from the 18th century could very likely be… strange? Comical? I like that it gave me the feeling to be out of place. Like Claire must feel. Yes, she is in the know. But does that really help her? The voice-overs: The helped me alot to connect with Claire. The accents: I am german but did an internship in England once. My landlady and a work-colleague were Scots and the heavy accents reminded me so much of them. It made me also wonder if we hear the different kind of accents there are in Scotland (e.g. The Glasgow accent is quite different from the Edinburgh accent. At least to me). Claire: I hope Claire stays the way she was presented in the first episode. I always argue that, to be considered a strong and self-assertive woman in a tv-show you do not need to be a man-hating raging bitch. I also liked that she right away realized what happend AND that she knew that she would try at first to rationalize it away. Jamie: Not only is he hot but actually seems to be interesting. I like it when I want to know more about a character I am supposed to care about. Hotness only goes so deep. The bad: Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ. Didn’t make sense to me but I guess that it was there for book readers. Over all I really really enjoyed the first episode. The tone set by colors, music and overall tone sucked me in, in a way that I only know from „GoT“ and „BB“ so far. Love! The acting was superb, and I hearted how the gaelic sounded like the actors used it everyday. I love that you can rewatch multiple times and see new things. I really hope that the shows stays this excellent and doesn’t get to confused with itself. (Looking at you Borgias).
