I think 18 months to 2 1/2 years are the best ages for firstborns to "welcome" a younger sibling. They are too young to really contemplate how much their worlds will change, and they haven't been an only for too long. Heading towards 3 years and up, kids have a better idea of what to expect and wilder imaginations. They can end up acting out long before the next kid is even born.

This is true- my nephew was 2 1/2 when his sister was born and he was not a happy camper. Meanwhile my kids were fine with the new arrivals. Of course when # 3 came along the first two had each other. The transition from 1 to 2 definitely is the most difficult. Katie will surely miss her in-laws. They are actually helpful and doted on Hailey.

  2. My first reaction was feeling bad for Hailey. She will only be 19 months old when the baby arrives. Her world is going to change so much.

My kids are 2 years apart- I know it’s only a 5 month difference but they mature a lot in those 5 months.

  3. That is just creepy. The over-the-top dress, hair and makeup for a 9 year old? And there’s Dad at the door in his same old suit and shoes with a bouquet of grocery store flowers.
Wonder where they went. I bet it was McDonald’s 🙄

  4. Today is Allie’s birthday. Alyssa posted in her stories that they stopped at Dunkin on the way to co-op because Allie had requested a pink sprinkle donut. I’m hoping it was just editing but it looked like the other girls got nothing. Just buy them all a donut FFS.

ETA, just noticed she had a big box of Munchkins. I guess the other girls will get something after all. That’s good.

  5. I kind of give Kelly a pass on her hair. Sometimes the colour just doesn’t hold up. I get that she is still in her 50’s and may not want to go grey yet but surely Josie could gradually take her lighter or do more highlights so the new growth blends in better?

I got my hair colored for years. Went with my natural dark blonde/light brown. Looked good for about two weeks then it started to fade to brassy blonde. I finally gave up last year. It’s mostly white now. I figure if I am eligible for Medicare later this year I can let it go. 😉

  6. I was hoping for Sam but I also like Victoria. Matt was more pleasant to watch than in his original appearances. I got FJ and figured Sam would as a Californian bon vivant.

I did get the Gordon Lightfoot TS the other night. Growing up in Canada he was on the radio all the time and I am partial to some of his earlier, lesser known songs like “Early Morning Rain”, “Beautiful”, “ Bitter Green”, and “Don Quixote”.  My favourite is “Song for a Winter’s Night” which was covered by Sarah McLachlan and sounds very different from Gord’s version.

  7. Carlin posted some photos of Zade and Layla at Evan’s parents’ house. Only the kids. His parents were not in the photos. I guess they finally respected their wishes.

I hate the ripped jeans trend. My 14 year old granddaughter has some that are so bad she might as well be wearing shorts. I tease her about them but she just laughs. Carlin and Whitney seem to pride themselves on following all the latest trends. Doesn’t matter how ugly or silly they are, if it’s “in” they are on board.

  8. I thought about his brother too.

But the two unmarried sisters still live with their parents? The older one is in her 40’s. Do they not work?
I do understand that these days lots of young adults continue to live at home, but you would think that by the time you reach 40 you should be able to live on your own. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  9. Oh Alyssa. I had a girl then two boys. Of course we noticed the differences in reaching milestones, and quirky behaviors, but I can honestly say I never thought “boys do things differently”.  I just compared them as individuals and if anything figured into the comparisons it was birth order. The boys walked earlier than their sister and I simply thought that younger siblings want to catch up.

There was one thing that would have made Alyssa’s head explode. When #2 was born we gave our daughter a baby doll. She loved it and used to pull up her shirt to feed her baby. Her little brother eventually got a Cabbage Patch doll which he loved. He called him “Patty Cake” and took him everywhere. When #3 was born he started to pull up his shirt to feed him. Can you imagine if Rhett did that? I doubt that would be shared on Instagram or YouTube. 🙄

  10. Is it just me or is anyone else having issues with this site? It takes forever to download, the feed keeps moving back to previous posts, there’s a long lag while trying to type posts, and I keep getting a message saying there is a problem. Not to mention the horrible pop up ads. I mostly use my phone or tablet but it’s getting so bad I often give up and try later.

  11. Cyril is still wearing his wedding ring. Lucille’s continued absence should be addressed but I guess we will have to wait and see.

  12. I’m guessing there was bad blood when Erin left the boutique. Not sure why she left- a disagreement about the direction  of the business  or if Chad wanted her to concentrate on him and the kids, but the fact that her leaving did not negatively affect the boutique ( business may have even improved) was probably extra annoying.
Erin was the princess in the family - her “talent” allowed her to escape a lot of the sister mom drudgery. She strikes me as a holier than thou mean girl, and I think she is super jealous that the annoying middle child Carlin got a much nicer wedding and seems to have nicer things all around, even though she wears pants and watches tv. 😮

Carlin is annoying and ditzy to be sure, but she doesn’t strike me as being mean or vindictive.
Obviously this is pure speculation based on what I have seen of them. Things could be totally different in real life.

  13. What a sad looking party. The snacks were sad, the venue was sad, the regimented schedule of events was sad.
The only splurge I could see was that Alyssa hired someone to do the balloon decor and the balloon animals for the kids.
Carlin forgot the gifts for the girls 🙄 I don’t know if she forgot to pack them or buy them. But apparently Alyssa told her not to worry about it. I would have been out the door to pick up more gifts ASAP.

I realize we only see what is posted on  Instagram, but it looks like Carlin and Erin did not interact. I do wonder if  Allie picked up on the tension. She seems like the kind of child who would notice such things.

So Allie was Belle, Lexi was Cinderella, Maci was Rapunzel, and I have no idea who  poor Zoey was supposed to be.  Looked like a generic pouffy party dress to me. Poor kid probably took too long to decide so Alyssa just clicked on a random dress.

If Alyssa hadn’t gone on about how she was planning a “special” party for all the girls  I wouldn’t have given it a second thought. But this wasn’t any different from their previous parties except it was at a church hall/ meeting room.
I feel so bad for those poor girls.

  14. I am spending some time in Portland, just across the river from Vancouver,  and of course Yogesh was on the local news just before the episode aired. 😐

Now that he has won I’m sure they will feature him tomorrow

Troy is very tall but he was the same height seated as Ben and Yogesh  standing so I was only slightly surprised.  I do hope he is ok. He looked very tired.

  15. I knew I was not going to be home so I spoiled myself. Not going to lie, if it had turned out differently I would not have bothered to watch later.

The games are all exciting to watch. I would be happy to see either Ben or Troy win.

  16. I also doubt that Josie will take photos of Miles dressed like a mini Chippendales dancer. 🙄

Kudos to them for not ignoring the girls.  Josie isn't stuck at home with the kids 24/7. I think that really helps her to appreciate the time she spends with them.
