  1. Something tells me writing a stand-up routine based around Jax has precisely the opposite effect than what Kristen's friend wants. Katie's takedown of Stassi was great. Someone should splice it in with NBA players being posterized and Jim Ross providing OTT commentary.
  2. Melissa Peterman is consistently excellent, and at this point, I've just given up on Riley so I'm fine with Ben/Riley. And I agree that even though I don't like Ben normally, I liked him in the Christmas episode.
  3. Interesting that they say this. http://www.thewrap.com/nbcu-cable-joins-delayed-viewing-ratings-bandwagon/ But are we really to believe that there are many shows that do disproportionately better L+3? I've seen no evidence of it.
  4. Have they issued an episode when Answering Maching Guy is showing up? It's just so strange to promote the entire show around a character and they haven't shown up yet.
  5. Tiffany lives in Las Vegas, but she and Jax met in San Diego for some reason. Am I crazy or do I like Jax/Lisa scenes? They always bring a smile to my face.
  6. Just as with advertisers, scripted tends to get more play than reality in recap sites. For instance Vulture only does Atlanta and BH, no New Jersey or Vanderpump, but does a lot of less watch scripted. I assume they make these assumptions based on reviews/demos. They probably thought this was a Can't Lose proposition. I hardly wish for some freelancer to lose his/her job, but I bet EW regrets the decision.
  7. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/prestige-outweighs-performance-cables-scripted-759119 Interesting article about Bravo's thought process on the show and its critical support. I don't buy the idea that good reviews equal buzz. Also, Orphan Black is on BBC America with a stable viewership. This show is on Bravo and sinking like a stone.
  8. I doubt they actually yank it or even burn it on weekends. Cable rarely does that. A move to 10:30 after an hour and a half RHOBH (that's actually 1 hour of RHOBH and then WWHL) strikes me as more likely. Also, they probably had low expectations for the next two weeks anyway so that gets them through 5 episodes. They can suck up 8 bad weeks. I wonder if there was some major snafu between development and marketing. Just last week Bravo sent plush hunk dolls to TV critics. They are still trying to convince people this is Sex and the City, when I don't think that's the show's intention.
  9. Episode 3 was a .30 in the demo and 700k total viewers, that's another 20% drop. It's getting to the point where they have to put WWHL on at 10 and move it to 10:30 like People's Couch and Euros of Hollywood. Also, it's infinitely more expensive than the former. As to whether they keep it going, this is getting really low. The conventional wisdom is that this will be renewed no matter what, but El Rey cancelled Matador and CW cancelled Runaway back in the day, so it's not impossible. Unless there are major DVR numbers, you have to wonder what the marketing plan is if the show is renewed - "Hey, here's this show you hated. Have some more, you idiots."
  10. From what I've read of critics they like it because: 1. It's not an hour of catfights which they were expecting. 2. The authenticity of Abby/Jake. Most reviews are mixed on Janeane and don't even mention Beau Garrett. I have no earthly idea why Bravo ordered 13 episodes of this. Cable seasons are normally 10. There's not enough story for 13 episodes. Also, even though this isn't special effect heavy, amortizing the cost of those 3 extra episodes would mean more money for the other 10. Maybe they could have shot in LA and got better supporting actors.
  11. Given how often she talks about Jax and that George Glass is a dime store version of him looks-wise, Stassi is still obsessed with him. Also, why was there no Vanderpump Rules guest on WWHL last night? I like Krysten Ritter and Jason Schwartzman but Mondays should be reserved for one of these idiots.
  12. Kristina's the worst. She's managed in virtually no air time to edge Kristen in the awfulness department. Tom Schwartz knows to keep quiet in important (and by important I mean cringeworthy) Tom/Kristen scenes. Except for a well timed sitting up when it's mentioned that Kristen and Jax banged on that couch. Stassi needs to go back to her imaginary boyfriend. No one cares what you learned on the Food Network about relationships. Schwartz and Katie are dumb enough to deserve each other. Princeton --> Young & The Restless --> Sur hostess ---> likely banging Jax. I guess Rick James was right. Cocaine is a helluva drug.
  13. According to Showbuzzdaily, the show did a .37 about a 20% drop. That's bad but maybe forgivable given the SOA finale crossed over into even unusual markets and the episode was released earlier. Even still, it's not Euros of Hollywood toxic. Also, I think Bravo is a L+7 network and this show has been getting (inexplicably IMO) good buzz in other places. That said, eventually there comes a point when it can't be saved.
  14. Every scene is a struggle to get through. It's very oddly paced too. IMO that contributes to being hard to follow and somewhat grating. Did we get an explanation for why a CW actress would be dating a househusband camera operator twenty years old than her. And why is he dating Julianna Guill (who's breasts were rightly called "stupendous" in Friday the 13th (2009), while she's stuck with a 28 year old as played by Wilford Brimley. I think I'm out. Send a bat signal when Answering Machine Guy shows up.
  15. Jax and his therapist banging is going to be the twist at the end of the season. Tom Schwartz is such a simp that he must have cheated to let Katie/Jax argue like that. Although did anyone notice it got switched from Jax's Vegas girlfriend said.... to Jax said....? I guess production couldn't afford to bring her in from Vegas. I just saw Stassi on WWHL and they showed a photo of her bootleg Jax "boyfriend" then she was annoyed that they showed clips of romantic moments with her and Jax. Kristina needs to learn to be quiet when adults are speaking.
  16. Cable is different from network in that premier ratings are not necessarily representative of how things will wind up. Devious Maids had a very soft debut and recovered over the course of the season. Also, Bravo may be unwilling to give up on its first scripted series regardless of ratings.
  17. I stuck with Satisfaction and shockingly may have to continue with it so I'm a glutton for these kinds of shows apparently. My main problem was how "talky" this show is. IMO, that's what's causing it to be more Sad in the City than Sex in the City. A shallow quibble: I found the casting of the younger guy weird. He didn't look that much younger. Now part of this is because Lisa Edelstein looks fantastic for her age, but it was as if they said she was dating a little person and it was a guy who was 5'7".
  18. Kristina is her name. She's terrible and just Stassi's lackey. I would rather watch The Muppet than her.
  19. The only explanation I have for Tom Schwartz's behavior is that he has independent sourcing that Katie "cheated" when she was drunk and maybe nuzzled a bit with a guy and no further. In fact, I suspect this came out between seasons and is being "re-enacted" now. Katie's reaction even reads to me as someone angry that her shit is being aired out rather than some wild, unfounded accusation. Stassi's completely useless. She can take George Glass and watch the Food Network back in NYC. I don't care one bit whether this was a good opportunity or slave labor. WWHL was a waste, going over old stuff like the tattos and the nose job. The woman on with Jax whined "can't we talk about my show" and I wish Andy said, "no, we didn't even have time to ask Jax whether he's sleeping with his therapist."
  20. At this point, I just find Stassi wearying. "When I ran Sur," laughing about plastic surgery when she looks like a different person from TAR, worried about people's drive when she watches Food Network all day. No one cares about your pompous nonsense and fake boyfriend. Schwartz clearly has no work ethic. Although I question the "reality" of that scene. The manager who told Lisa he quit doesn't have the best poker face.
  21. I liked Rob on Price and AMC. Jordan Lane Price was Charity Rahmer levels though. He had much more chemistry with Brooke Newton. This role is not right for him because it requires him to be threatening but still sympathetic, which is a plain out weird writing choice that anyone would have difficulty with, but still. He works best as pleasant and inviting (say what you will about Mike Richards, he's not dumb).
  22. They have to do that because Euros and People's Couch are tanking in the ratings. People's Couch needs to get rid of the boring groups and do the popular Bravo shows weekly.
  23. I hate to defend The Muppet, but the showing up to work after being fired was producer manipulation. No one does that. That said, why are they spending so much time on him? Even the WWHL poll question was about him. Give his camera time to the characters I care about. The Stassi/Jax stuff was foreshadowing that they're having a one night stand this season, right? Also, filed under the inexplicable love of Jax category: was it just me or was Jax's "therapist" eyeing him like my dog eyes sirloin. At first, I thought it was shock at his behavior, but IMO there was something more there.
  24. Chris was played by Kellan Lutz who has looked very muscular in some roles.
  25. Busboy is brutal. What a gossipy jerk and worse he's taking precious airtime away from more important people. I hope FI Tom breaks his jaw. Decent start to the season, particularly given that you had to catch up with where everyone is.
